Formula 2na series inaugural season is coming to the Tunaverese in high style. From tracks to cars we are big time the cars are ex F1 cars that have been detuned to 500HP for reliability and drivability and they are still fast just not as vicious. Ferrari will supply us with a fleet of F2007 cars and a warehouse full of parts.
The tracks are equally impressive with only courses that exist in real life. The proposed schedule is as follows. The series will not actually begin until almost November but I wanted to make sure everyone had time to buy their own F2007.
1. Fuji F Oct 30
2. Suzuka Nov 6
3. Laguna Seca Nov 13
week off
4. Daytona Road Course Nov 27
5. Indy Oval Dec 4
6. Indinapolis Road Course Dec 11
2 weeks off
7. Cote d'Azur Jan 1
8. Monza Jan 8
9. Nurburgring GP F Jan 15
10. Spa Jan 22
All races would be between 30 and 60 laps with the Indy oval being a 120 lap affair.
I am posting here to gauge interest. I will be capping participation at 14 drivers that is if there are 14 people up for it.

You know me. ^-^

must get 2007
-
I can't commit to racing full time in a series. (Well, I can commit to one...and I've already picked it) I like the idea though. Good car - detuned, tracks, schedule.
-
I love the tracks and I will try it as soon as I pick up an F2007. I'm afraid I am not quick enough for these though even though they are detuned.
-
November is quite a ways off so this is subject to change, but right now I'd be interested in this and should be able to come along for most races (depending on the day of the week).
I always liked the idea of running something with a slightly detuned Ferrari F1 car, or even a Formula-GT (more colour options!).

2 seasonal events with TT's and DT's will pay for one.

Or you could just cash in a level 24 ticket. 1 in 3 shot of getting an F2007

Cool, I'll send it from my MMXtreme account, that's my distributor.
Thanks Doc.

Need a level 24 ticket or two? easiest way to nab one...

I just realized that this event is on Mondays. Mondays, real tracks (except I hate ovals) and formula cars; sounds great. I can't make November 14 (it's my wife's birthday) and I don't have a place to live in January yet so it is possible that my ps3 will be on a moving truck in early January.
-
Thanks to some help I now own a F2007. Thanks.
As 11 has pointed out these are on Mondays and I missed that part. So I won't be able to make the races, but if anyone wants some practice I am down for that.
-
I was wanting to hold them on Sunday's but with SFS I was not wanting to step on toes. Guess it could be done as it is an hour or so would be all it would cut into the current Sunday schedule.
-
Sunday would be nice, but I'm not asking for a change. I am making more level 24 tickets from what was sent to me. So if anybody needs one let me know.

Sat/Sun/Mon are the best nights of the week for me so I don't mind a switch to Sunday.
-
Monday would hurt my attendance as well.
-
Thursday and Friday are optimal for me.
-
I may be able to take part but only on Monday - Thursday.
-
I must say this idea has piqued my interest. I've never raced the Formula 1 cars much simply because I couldn't keep up with how quickly things happened. I'm curious if knocking them back to 500hp might tame them enough for me. To the point I'm going to go try it right now.

If it helps, I tried running a Formula GT in the "Real World" seasonal and having to detune it to 750PP made a huge difference in it's handling (in a good way). I largely detest driving LMP cars for similar reasons but I found a that to be much easier even with my DS3 controller (aka the Plastic Banana!).
-
I turned a few laps at Suzuka yesterday afternoon, my time severely curtailed by an update download and installation. And having to agree to the Terms of Service at least twice... maybe three times. (FU, Sony, I said "I Accept" already!)
The F2007 at 500hp is very manageable. I ran it on R1's. Still have to run an ATX though. I just can't seem to flick through the gears fast enough but the auto tranny handles it very nicely. I could see racing these things.
-
Very interested! I love and been wanting to use fully tuned F1, not sure how much this detune is but I'm still interested.
Also have 24 tix to throw around if anyone else needs one!
I def can't make halloween as it's, well halloween and my wife's birthday, but should be good for most rest of the series!
-
...not sure how much this detune is but I'm still interested.
I had to take my car back to about 72% power to make 500hp. Originally, it was 70%, but I lost some hp after running practice laps at Suzuka. Don't know where I'm at with oil changes and such.
-
got in the F2007 tuned her down and ran a few laps at Monza on R1s with Allstar...... don't know if we were fast but the car seems easily manageable. I should be in Indonesia by then so don't know about my ability to join in. but I will give it a try
-
I tried it out for a few laps at Fuji on R1's and it's really a lot of fun. I did about 10 laps and got a 1:24:000, I don't know if that's any good but this could be a blast.
I'm in for Mondays but I can't do Halloween either, should be good for the rest though.
-
Was not thinking of halloween when I made the schedule doh! So as an adjustment I could push everything back one week and make the 2 weeks off before the European leg schedule just one week. How's this adjustment seem for many of you?

Hey what now?! For good or just a stint? Def enjoy racing with ya soks!
-
good with revised also
@ Phreak... going for six months for now when the visa crap is cleared but for good when I can get all my stuff sold. Internet connection is sometimes iffy there and power sometimes goes out for no apparent reason. Still I will make every effort to continue running with you and all other Tunas. Goos times.

sign me up baked

Was thinking of moving these races to Sunday evenings/primetime. A problem I ran into though was that race #7 would fall on new years day then. At first I thought this would be an issue but the more I thought about it I realized it was not an issue for me but still might be for others. Those of you that are wanting to run need to speak up some.
-
What time are these being run?
I can not run after 10:00 PM Eastern time.
-
Was thinking if it were to be Sunday they would start 7 or 8 eastern if it were Monday's then it would be 9 probably.
-
I vote Sunday at 7.
5 or 6 would be even better.

9 is a better time for me. 5 or maybe 6 on Sunday would probably work. Jan 1 or 2 probably doesn't matter for me since I will most likely be moving on those days and can't race anyways.

I'm with Chrome kind of...I would prefer Monday at 7 since I work a double shift Saterday night (10:00pm) through Sunday afternoon (2:00pm) but Sunday at 7 can be done. 9 pm is not great for me because my wife has been tearing into me something fierce for racing right up to the last minuet before leaving for work, I'm pushing my luck enough just signing up for another dedicated series as it is.
-
9
-
I can't do Sunday but Monday @ 9 would be ideal. Kids go to bed at 9.
-
sunday or monday is good for me
-
Scheduling update will be adding one maybe two races. Was thinking of adding Spa should it not present any currently unforeseen issues. And it looks like these will be run Sundays at 7 pm. My apologies to anyone that has a scheduling conflict, tried to go with what works for others as well as my own schedule.
-
I think I'm going to respectfully bow out of this. After my experience with the X2010, and FGT the past few days, I've come to the realization, that I hate these cars, and really have no business joining a series for them.
Sorry Baked.

Sorry Baked.
This is why they have been neutered to put them into the hands of more folks to build some confidence. But if you don't have fun then I don't blame ya one bit.
-
Negotiations are ongoing with the management team at Spa but it is looking like they will be race ten. Details will flow when they are available.
-
Can we get a list of entrants? I have a couple friends I might want to ask to join but I want to make sure there is room first.
-
Speak up if you are interested.
-
After having driven it around Fuji and Cote d'Azur I think I'm still interested though I'm not sure quite how good I'll be in race conditions with other cars around me (so I may withdraw if I feel I'm more of a danger to others than anything else :laugh).
Even with the reduced power it can be a touch tricky so it might also be useful to have some tuning info either posted or maybe a pre-season "test n tune" session one weekend?
-
Yeah, I'm in.
-
I should be in but early January will likely be an issue. I should have a better idea about my plans for next year in a week.
-

Yeah, how bout a 1st post update with proper dates and a current list of entrants 8)
-
Is this still on? It's supposed to start Sunday but there doesn't appear to be much interest.
-
I'm not worthy, I can't drive those cars very well.
-
I just saw this and daymn, I'm definitely interested! :)
-
I hope so. By my count, about 7 people are signed up.
-
is start time 7EST? if so I gotta pass sorry
-
Still on, I counted seven as well.

OK I'm confoosed! Re-reading I see nothing was ever definite, but I thought it was decided to keep it on Mondays, and push the first race back a week due to Halloween.
Was it officially moved to Sunday's and is it starting this week? After my piss poor performance in Brindle's Cup, maybe I should bow out of here as well, I have a feeling there's going to be some very competitive racing up front, and with all the recent life changes/new games, I don't think I'd be able to devote the proper attention to not screwing up any more races...

You have not screwed up anything. Shit will happen in races, there is no way around it. I fucked up and forgot there were no cautions under 3 laps left. Oh well, there is always next week. Seat time is always the best thing, so please, come on out and never feel that your in the way. :)

what time does the room open?
-
My lounge is available for practice all day.
-
race time?

I'm going to bow out. I have to move across the country before the end of the year and I've got too much to do before that.
-
My apologies for missing week 1, as I think I mentioned it was the wife's birthday weekend and I was no where near a PS3 or sober... But I finally found some time for tuning/testing this car on Suzuka for week 2 and I'm ready for the race! Oh it was last night? That was for serious? Damn I thought that was just a practice :D Well had I been able to do any testing before the race this is what I would have found, I'll share for other's, perhaps it will aid them.
First off, I think I'm a much better driver in bumper cam than in cockpit cam. I raced cockpit last night because I love the look of these cars in that view, open wheels spinning, steering wheel turning and lighting up and flashing... But to be honest with myself, I don't think I'm nearly as clean as in bumper cam. Error #1 found this morning.
Pre/during/post race I remember some people started discussing tuning (myself included) and most people kept their setups stock with full aero. I was one of the few who decided to be daring and try a bit less than full aero. Well after some actual practice I can say this, full aero is most definitely the way to go, hands down! My best lap time last night was a 1:37 something and that was probably with a draft during the race. So this morning I fired up my lounge and started practice with the exact same suspension setup I used last night and upped the downforce to max. I think I banged out a 1:37 my first timed lap and immediately knew full downforce was the way to go. A few more laps and I was finding I could take turns a whole gear higher than I could last night. Error #2 found this morning.
Lastly I decided to try going stock suspension settings with full down force vs my settings. Granted I didn't change much, but it was a bit here and there, most importantly I think was camber. At the end of the day, I found that although I was able to finally turn a *slightly* faster fastest lap on my settings, I was more inconsistent overall and couldn't really throw multiple clean laps together back to back. The difference in timing between my fastest lap on stock settings and my settings doesn't nearly outweigh the ability to throw fast laps back to back on stock settings. Error #3.
So if I could re-run this race what did I learn? Use bumper cam because I'm most used to it. Use FULL downforce, the top speed loss doesn't nearly outweigh the ability to take turns a gear higher. And lastly use the stock suspension settings. I'm sure it's possible to find a better setup depending on the track and everything, but these cars seem pretty tuned to themselves as is from the factory, and I don't have the time or experience to tune it to each individual track.
So my best best lap on my suspension was a 1:33.865, all by my lonesome on Suzuka... But for consistency sake, I was able to pull these 3 in a row. So like I said, I'm totally ready for race 2, albeit a day late :P

Without decent attendence the series was never completed. :'(
