The car specs for the Rocket are 581 points and 197 HP maximums. Naturally aspirated only please but other than that bolt on any engine parts you wish to get these numbers. Tuning is open. Tires are sports softs.
points for the series will be awarded as follows
pos.=pts.
1=35 9=16
2=32 10=14
3=29 11=12
4=26 12=10
5=24 13=8
6=22 14=6
7=20 15=4
8=18 16=2
There will be bonus points this time around as well. In a field of eight or less qualifiers the pole sitter will get two points. In a field with more than eight qualifiers the pole sitter is awarded four points and his front row counterpart will get two points. And no matter the size of the field the runner of the fastest lap in the race gets three points.
Format will be enough qualifying time for three maybe four laps. Then a race of approximately 25 mins.
As was the case this past month the room officially opens at 9 Q starts at 9:30. All times are eastern. The lounge of choice at this moment will be Baked's place. Want to join in, I must receive your friend invite by 5 on Friday. Consider that the pre registration deadline.
Any questions have I not been clear? More than possible but rather quite likely, just ask.

Have you decided on the tracks for this event?

Have you decided on the tracks for this event?
Silverstone in various configurations and Matterhorn.
Promoters note the sponsor for the Matterhorn races dropped out and those races have been replaced with ones at Apricot Hill and Brands Hatch.
-
Will there be a spec for this vehicle, or stock/tuneless?
I would imagine tuning is open, because of the low top speed when stock?
Thanks
-
Will have specs for car and track schedule listed byt Saturday evening.
-
Some preliminary specs final posting will be by Saturday this is in case someone wants to get some practice this will put them in the ball park
HP197

Tracks we will start and finish the month at Silverstone first week will be the National and International circuits. While week 4 will have us on Stowe and the full Grand Prix tracks. The two weeks in the middle we have us visiting Apricot forward and reverse and both Brands Hatch courses..
Man in the cockpit view around these track I can imagine what it was like to be a F1 driver back in the 60's. Hopefully it will be enjoyable enough to others to generate enough interest for the series.

I am really looking forward to this one. I love these little cars, to the point I'd love to have a real one.
I just kinda wish there was one week at Cote de Azure.
I guess I could still try to plan and organize a full Gran Prix, 78 lapper, there. :) Once the pit stop bug is fixed.
-
Do it so it would coincide with the real Monaco GP.

I've thought about that, but Monaco GP is the same day as the Indy 500. Which means it'd have to be close to the Undy 500. I figure that may be a bit of a long race overload.

Following pics are gratuitously stonlen from Pix of Six thread and they are from a recent TuTu but it is hopefully what we can expect from the coming month's series. Stealing these from Chrome hopefully he will not mind.

Going into the sophomore season I have several aspirations. Some as a racer the usual ones wanting to be faster, smoother and more consistent. But as the event promoter I also want o see things happening. Bigger fields and more close racing although the first season had plenty of this so if it can just be maintained I would be pleased.
To those who started their career in the karts good luck and I am looking forward to seeing you all out there for the coming season. And to anyone wanting to start now come on out join in the fun it is shaping up to a fun series if any of the pre season testing is to be believed.
-
This should be really fun and educational at the same time. I hope to plan to be there, or plan to hope to be there. One of those.
-
Opening night of the second season will see us running the National course first for 27 laps then our attention will be turned to the International circuit for 23 laps.
-
Looking forward to it.

Well that didn't go so good! First race I forgot to set that speed on the transmission, had it at 180! Then the second race was going fair and then I get booted! Guess there is next week, see everybody there!

Good racing last night y'all.
I will be unable to attend next Friday as I'll be at a wedding. :P :P
-
I didn't do very well, and it didn't really have much to do with Chevy bumping me in the first race. Sure, I caught up okay, but the second race and my Saturday races were all very sloppy.
Don't feel bad Chevy, you didn't ruin my night. I did that on my own just fine ;)
Overall, I need to practice more, and that's no one's fault but my own. (and everyone who asks me to do shit, pronounced "douche it")

Hey guys sorry for the delays in getting points up. I went to TN over the weekend for some scouting and to speak to a few folks about jobs. Event though I have been back my spare time has been filled with much family discussion and emails and phone calls with those folks in TN. Right now it is looking like I will be southward bound late this spring. Will have some time tomorrow to update points and post a lap count for this week's race as well.
-
Great. I'm glad that it sounds promising for you.
-
Found out last night had to be up at 6 this morn. Had not been expecting that or my daughters car to break down mid day. Do not have points compiled but do know that this week's race will be 17 laps in eother direction.

We had a great turnout for the first Friday of the new season. And it is looking like Some of the same old faces came back out with some new ones mixed in. Bada and Brindle were fast in karts so it is no surprise they were fast in the Rockets as well. While speaking of performances noticed Mondo seems to have picked up his pace in the off season and is off to a better start. As did dlrws6.
I looked up once during the first race and could have sworn I saw five wide behind me. HOLY CARP that puts pressure on. Nice race everyone. Looking forward to Ape Hill this week.

peyepete is off to a nice start out there. Looks like this could shape up to be a good points battle.

would like to have been more competitive but enjoyed anyway ... thank you

Knew when the schedule was set this week might be neglected somewhat in favor of keeping significant others happy on Valentines Day with only 6 in attendance points are going to shuffle the rest of the season will be tight. I managed to take the triple on the first race taking pole, victory and fastest lap. Not to be outdone bada pulled off the same feat when the circuit was ran in the opposite direction after intermission. peyepete showed consistency, speed and smoothness on the way to a good results. Looked as Feldynn and nosoks had some quality back and forth between them for some good racing. And Mondo was on his way to a podium when he dropped a tire late in the race not giving him a result indicative of his performance. Was a good nights racing from top to bottom, hope the field fills out some again next week.

With four races left in the season the points are way different than I would have imagined at the start of the season. Scheduling conflicts have played a part in this obviously but it still makes it all interesting.

Looks like I'm gonna miss this week too. :( :P

You will be missed Wiz :'(

Brands Hatch GP. 16

Last week's races at Brands Hatch were rough that is a tough track and in the Rocket you had to be on your toes. Brindle won both races in a dominant fashion that had been unseen til that point, actually out qualifying the second place stater by two seconds in the second race. Outstanding job Brindle. Meanwhile the other two spots on the podium were filled with me and bada swapping spots in the two races. All bonus points went to Brindle as he tries to get back into the points race.

which tracks for tonight?
I believe they are Silverstone Gran Prix and Silverstone Stowe.
Don't know lap counts, but expect around 20min each race.
-
Bada has it dead on.
-
sweet. I'll try to make it
-
Stowe will see 24 laps ran tonight while the full GP circuit will only see 10.
Good luck and have fun everyone.

The season finale was at Silverstone and points were shaken once again as the points leader had a DNF in the second race with a fuel pump related issue. Brindle swept the races, the poles and fastest laps to maximize his points for the weekend to make up for missing two of the races earlier in the month. But in the end he came up just one point short of the championship. Congrats to badaboya he is the CiaY Rocket Champion. Also congrats to the rookie of the year Feldynn.
