Title: TuTu April 16 2013 - ACO GT1/LMGT1 Road Cars
Post by: TheHotstepper on April 10, 2013, 09:41:11 AM
Between 2005 and 2010, the ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest, organizers of the 24 Hours of Le Mans) ran a class called GT1 and then it was called LMGT1 (it is not called something different). This week we are running any of the road car versions in GT5 that had a race car variant that competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in these classes in this time period. Car list is below.

My whole neighborhood is having interweb problems tonight .... I'll see if I can get logged in.  If I cause problems in the room, let me know and I'll bail.

I got logged in, but everything is painfully slow.  Not about to ruin your race room with my poor connection.  Hopefully they'll fix the area soon.

Till next time .....

I owe an apology to someone last night, think it might have been Grumpy or GoesTo11? Forget who it was, but I basically ruined one of their races by punting them from behind and knocking them off the track. I'm so sorry. I was coming into a corner and tried to heel-toe with the new rig. Problem is that GT5 doesn't support the clutch (forgot) and when I hit both the clutch and the brake at the same time, it really confused the game. It put my car into neutral and none of the pedals worked, so I had no brakes. It only started working again once I started shifting with the paddle shifters. I'm very very sorry for ruining your race.

I haven't been on GT5 in at least a couple of weeks so it wasn't me.  I thought that GT5 supported the clutch.  Anyway, sounds like odd behaviour.  I'd keep an eye on that.  I get the impression from the forums that the csp v2s are less reliable than the elites.  People have had issues with the accelerator not working or spiking.  I'd also adjust your load cell so it doesn't take that much pressure to get full braking.  Both the elites and csps have issues with the load cells wearing out.

Hmmm, did some more searching and it sounds like you're right, that GT5 does support a clutch but that it's sort of an on/off kind of thing. Not sure why I was having problems. Read another thread that said you had to shift through all the gears first for it to work. Odd.

It was me that you tagged. No harm or foul, i have seen you race before and know you don't do that! I was really puzzled how i was ahead of you, now i know!  :)

Yeah, and then on top of everything, the new rig consumes both of my USB ports so I didn't have one open for my mic. We both sat there afterwards like ... ok, now what ... but I made sure to give you a spot ahead of me and I was hoping to get behind you and push you back to the pack. But I couldn't even do that.

So note to self ... next time I have a new rig, spend some time getting used to it before joining a race with friends. Lesson learned.

If you buy a usb hub to solve this issue, buy one that has it's own power supply.  I had to learn this the hard way...  I bought a few that only got power from the USB port on the PS3 and didn't have any luck.  Random disconnects of wheel, mic, whatever.  Bought one with it's own power supply and haven't had a problem since.

Do you mean that you can plug your pedals and wheel into the ps3 separately?  I didn't know that you could do that on a ps3.  You know that you can plug the pedals into the wheel with the ps2 cable?

Powered USB hubs are cheap...  (I have a 7-port on each or my PS3s)

Shoot, I bet I one of those powered hubs sitting in one of those boxes my ex-wife packed for me. LOL. I'll have a look when I get home.
