TuTu March 26 2013 - A New Kind of Shuffle
« on: March 20, 2013, 12:23:03 PM »

We're running a shuffle race, but we're not actually setting it up as a shuffle race. Instead, you get to pick your own car - so there can't be any bitching about getting stuck with a loser! WRINKLE: YOU MAY NOT RUN THE SAME CAR TWICE ALL NIGHT. You must change your car between every race. No repeats!

Car: Whatever the game gives you!

Setup: Oil change. Paint. Wheels. Go apeshit!

Restrictions:
PP: 440 max (you may run anything lower)
Tires: Sports Medium
Lounge: TuTuTuna
Shot clock: 4 minutes (no testing time... pick your ride, lower the power, and go)
Tuning: Prohibited. Power adjustment only.
Opening Track: Motegi East (if that's a real thing). We can change often.

Remember: a different car every race (and not two different colors of the same car: you can run a '90 NSX and a '95 NSX - but not two different colored '95 NSXs. Make sense?). New car. Each race. Tuning will be set on prohibited, so if your car has something done to it where it can't get in - tough. Pick something else - there should be about 500 cars eligible for this event. If you can get a Ferrari F1 car to 440pp, then by all means, run it. Race cars, road cars, prototypes. Anything goes. Just don't try running the same thing twice. I'll keep a list if I have to.

Cool idea.

Do same year cars count as same car when name is different?

Hypothetically speaking, is an '03 RX8 (EU) and anb '03 RX8 (NA) considered the same?  Or what about cars that have both Premium and Standard models (e.g. '54 Mercedes 300L)

(Pulling answer out of my ass): The RX8 example would be two different cars. The 300SL would be the same. Hopefully it won't come to that tho

Many thanks for the kind offers. But my usual plan of adtion for tuneless event is to buy the car and sell it when i am done for the evening. Currently my whole garage is devoted to track day cars afterall i am not commuting in any of these. So buying severl cars for the one night hardly seems practical. Again thank you Dude and Charlie.

Could have sworn I'd commented on this before now but apparently not, maybe I was just thinking of a reply but never actually posted.. it's all in my head :D.

Anyways, I really like the idea of bringing our own shuffle cars and I think it'll be a blast to see what cars everyone will roll out!  The only minor drawback I could see is maybe running out of available cars to use after a finite number of races, so it might be more logistically plausible to have say a limit of maybe 10 or 15 different cars and you can't run the same car again until you've used them all.

Just a thought, either way I'll be there with a bunch of cars :).

There are about 500 cars (or more) that qualify. You can detune a Miura to the specs. Or a GT500 car. GT350. Unfortunately, we are limited by the bounds of time and will probably not be able to get 500 races in before the night ends. Maybe 20. Maybe.

Oh, and I'm guessing (unless you have a known sleeper to bring) the best route is to start at the top of your garage (sorted by pp) and grab the first car closest to the top you haven't used yet, lower the pp to the specs and go. Lather, rinse and repeat.  :)

I'd like to try to make this event. What time does it start? 9pm EST? Also, I see that power reduction is allowed to meet the PP, but what about power upgrades to get to 440? I have a full stable of different Miatas I'd love to drive. Doubt they'll be very competitive. But it would still be fun to drive them. Don't remember if I can get them to 440 or not here at work. I'll look when I get home.

I believe tuning is prohibited, so power slider down is only option.

Yeah but ... think of the possibilities.      :D

Ok, counter offer ... what if the Miatas are restricted to 430PP? Eh?    :-\

Sorry! Power slider only... the next shuffle will have a different pp and Miatas might be eligible then. You can still drive them if you want, the pp above is just the max. Anything below it is fair game. But tuning will stay prohibited.

And I'll be on by 7:45 pm EST if not a little earlier. Hope you come race anyway!
