I know there are a few of you here that have an Obutto. I think there may even be some pictures floating around here somewhere.
A couple questions for those that have one...
Is it sturdy? I'm pretty hard on my wheel and pedals.
Do you have the tabletop accessory? If so, does it swing from the side to the front? or is it stationary?
Are there multiple mounting options for both wheel and pedals? I ask because I have a Fanatec CSR & CSR Elite pedals and I can't find any info on whether or not they are compatible with an Obutto.
Any other relevant info you think I should know?
I recently cashed in some unused vacation days so I have a nice spare chunk of change and am thinking about getting one.
Thanks!
I won't drag out that altered picture with the God awful Red Wing jerseys replacing my B's. (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)
I have the keyboard tray/desk top. It came with it. It swivels. It can mount on either side. This is the only thing that may shake a little during game play. It is nice to have this.
The seat is really comfy. Hours can be spent in it at a time. If you tire, it fully reclines so you can nap.
One more question... how was it delivered? I read they weigh about 100ish pounds. Does it come on a pallet? Will I need to be home to help the delivery person get it off the truck?
Thanks guys.
I'm fairly confident I'll be placing an order in the next day or two. Now I just need to figure out how the fuck I'm going to rearrange the room it's going in. ^-^

Yeah, I hope it's in by Friday.

Basically there's two FedEx facilities by me. One is right at the airport, the other is just a warehouse somewhere. The one at the airport is open on Saturday, the other place is not. Guess which one my Obutto is at? :P
It's the same unit Looney. Just change out the gate plate when you want to go sequential. And the shifter has an adjustable shift tension adjustment. I will let you know how it is.

What's with the auto stick? Do you have to get one? You'll have to let us know how realistic the shifting resistance is. 8)
Wizard,I would have definitely been running a temp and throwing up if it was coming to my house :)
Did you take the day off and are parked at the front door listening for any sound that could be a cube van?
The tension must be killing you. (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)

That's O.K., I get a temp and throw up every time I hear you're coming NEAR my house, (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)
It took me about 30 minutes to get all the fucking bubble wrap off the damn thing! (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)
I didn't get it until fairly late. It's all put together. Now I just have to drill some holes to mount my wheel, which I'll do right when I get home from work. I should be ready to race tonight! :)
I can already tell I'm going to love it. I sat in it last night for a bit and it's comfy as FUCK
The M6 bolts came with the wheel. I just had to spend about 30 minutes or so last night trying to find them. (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)

The clamping system on my Fanatec CSR wheel sucks ass so I'm going to drill some holes in the wheel plate on my Obutto and hard mount the wheel. The Thrusmaster clamp was the worst I have ever seen as well. I hard mounted it on the second day. Great wheel but they cut corners on a couple things.
Yeah? How is that monster??? Awesome I imagine!
After a brief discussion online the other day with jaej, I started to wonder how every one else drives. He bounces back and forth between controller and wheel, which personally I think will hinder your ability to get used to the wheel. I know there's a ton of people here that are amazing on both, but once getting used to the wheel since day 1, I'm freaking HORRIBLE on the controller. Yet I do remember going from controller to wheel, I couldn't touch the times I used to get on the controller the first few months with a wheel.
Anyway I'm getting sidetracked. Basically I think half of the battle with using the wheel is having a nice comfortable stable setup for it, otherwise it's more of a pain than it's worth. So aside from all you Obutto owners, how else does everyone with a wheel drive? I made this custom rig based off several internet plans I came across, and for me it's perfect, and was super cheap for DIY project using only hand tools and a dremel to drill starter holes. It was originally designed around a massage chair I had, but when it's not massaging that thing has 0 lower back support, and I wound up confined to bed for a day after a few long racing sessions. Now I use what you see here, an audio rocker with some "stops" to keep it from rocking. I can go hours pretty comfortably, and being low to the ground I get the feel of pedals out in front of me like in a race car instead of under me like a truck. I started out with a snack tray that I'd tie weights to, and while fairly stable, I'd get shin pain from hovering my feet. This way I get to keep my legs out straight in front of me almost as it was designed!
So, what's YOUR setup like?
Yes sir Boston lots of vinal, still have the turntable that I bough in 1980 for $500, still works perfecty. What you don't see is the 1000 cds. there in the pc now.
Sill miss the snap, pop and crackle. At least the new stuff is portable. And Damm I'm getting old.

Are those books or vinyls on the shelf? If they are vinyls, nice collection.
For the kids. Vinyls are also called records. Music gets inscribed onto them. They get played on a turntable. It is what most of us listened to before the fancy tape decks and CD players were invented. Now it's kids and there phones, pads, pods. (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif) (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif) (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)
Damn, I'm almost as old as AllStar. :laugh
Except that you probably don't remember 78 RPM records.
They came out BEFORE the LPs (Long Playing - 33-1/3 RPM) and 45's (45 RPM) I once had an original 78 RPM record of Frank Sinatra's first big hit "I'll never smile Again" (He sang it because of me (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/facepalmsmiley.gif) ) in my hands - Un-played, and in the original sleeve. Problem is, that my greedy little Niece thought it would be worth money and grabbed it out of my hands.....when she did, the record came out of the sleeve and hit the wall, shattering into about 1,000 pieces. I could have strangled the last breath out of her :o (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/nonono.gif) , But my brother stopped me before she choked - dammit. It was what you would call, "finding a rare Ferrari in the barn" kind of find, that only comes along once in a lifetime. Sometimes you just can't find an excuse for kids. This was one of those times I wish my brother had raised Turnips. Eh, whaddyagonnado? :-\
Huh?
I Think i'm gonna take the plunge and save up for one of these...i'm tired of my wheel moving on me lol. plus i get paid 5x in march = extra money for timmy 8)
You will not be disappointed.
If I'm dropping that kind of coin, there better be a blowie involved.
