I'm up for a test, but we don't have many Wednesdays before the next event. We got the 19th which is Grilled's enduro, the 26th, day after Christmas and January 2nd. If any/every one is interested give me an idea of what date will work.  We might could even do a double test, both Route X and Indy. Or do it on a Friday either after TunaCup or on a non event night if GTIF or other series is not running.

Other wise, for tuning I'd suggest minimum aero, 0 camber, 0 toe, ride height as low as you can go without dragging and affecting top speed and gears set to about 260mph.

For Indy I get the feeling that what was good at Motegi will be good at Indy, except you'll need more gear for a higher top speed.

Right now I could use a good facepalm picture.

I did a quick balance test last night and there has been some changes with the 2.09 update.  A perfect example is my Indy test. Originally I ran all cars set to defalt except for weight and HP and ran a 5 and 10 lap stint. The results were the cars would run comparable lap times with the best lap within the same tenth of a second for all cars. With these settings all the cars could run flat out around the track on Racing Hard tires.

Last night, I do the 5 lap test with the same rules and settings.  The 88CV, R89, R92, C9 were still the same, all running their best laps in the 43.2XX second range equalling the pre 2.09 test.  The 787B fell a little short, with a best lap of 43.3XX but still overall very close and still within 1 tenth of the fastest of the above cars.  The other two, the XJR9 and 905, could not run flat out under the given conditions. To get them to run flat out I had to adjust aero or switch to Racing Mediums.

I plan on doing some more testing this weekend or, if time permits, tonight.  Based on my findings I plan on making a small rule change or two. If this last test goes the way I think it will expect the following to change.

1. Tires will be limited to Racing Medium and Soft
2. The 787B will get a very small increase in power.

Between the two it should prevent the 905 and XJR9 from having a tuning disadvantage and will assure that the 787B stays competitive. :)

Ok, rule change time.  First the changes.

For rounds 3 and 4 the following regulations have changed.

1. Race medium and race soft tires only.  Race hard tires are no longer permitted.
2. The Mazda 787B gets a 4hp increase to 681.
3. The Peugeot 905 gets a 4hp decrease to 744.


As for the reasons behind the changes, well... the short story is the 2.09 update.

As I mentioned earlier, based on the comments from Motegi I decided to re-test all the cars and found that 2.09 affected the balance between the cars.  I chose to use Indy for the main test and Route X to check top speeds. If you want to see the exact numbers I can post them, but what I found was that the 905 had definite advantage over the other cars and the 787B had a near equal disadvantage. The 905 easly ran 42.9 second laps using stock settings while the other cars could not best a 43.0xx second lap with the 787B not able to run better than 43.1xx seconds. Its not a huge gap, but with an oval, I figure its best to keep the gap between the cars as close as possible.  Thus the HP changes.

2 questions:

1) is it possible for me to switch vehicles?

2) any possibility we can push back the start time?  There's a sporting event on here locally that starts at 8 and I really want to watch the whole thing.

If the answer is no for either or both that's fine.

How long are you talking about?  Its a 50 minute race so we can wait 10 to 15 minutes but not too long.

I'd prefer every one uses the cars that they started with, but lets face it its a game. If you change cars I'll just figure some way of reflecting it in the points. I'm not going to say you can't race if you change cars. So take it as you will.  :)

I'm actually thinking of dropping the 1 car rule for the road course series.
