copy pasta from other thread:

I just posted what I think is a pretty interesting spec for this week which attempts to use a combination of hp, pp and kg to equalize four cars.

I think this might make for some very close racing.  I got 1:53's in all but the Viper, which seems just a smidgen slow.  The race specs were specifically designed for the 599 and Corvette, but the Mazerati and Viper can come out and play, though each less sophisticated than their bretheren.

we're also experimenting with NoS for the first time this week.  Since we are not using tire wear or pitstops until the bug is fixed, we thought introducing NoS would add another element of strategy to the races.

So, it's one longer race, you get to choose the strength of your nitros shot, and you get to decide when to use it!

this race format worked out very well.

Note to other race organizers who may try to do something similar:  Test hp,pp, and weight for each car at the specific track you intend to use.  Once you change tracks things change too much.  A collection of "like" tracks might all exhibit close matching of cars, but when you change to a completely different style of track there may be disparities.

Monza with the Maseratti GT S, the Ferrari 599, the Corvette Stingray, and the Viper GTS all equalized pretty darn well with the hp and pp not being attainable really by any of them, unless the Ferrari was neutered to the point of having really no power band and way too much torque for the exits of corners.

To be clear, the explicit purpose of using numbers that no car can attain all of, is so that one car is restricted by one number, and the other car by the other.  This could be a new way to set up car classes for those interested.

It would have been good to race with you again, and I think I did see you come online.

I was, however, using my old PS3 for watching netflix to just relax after a long week of dealing with a sick baby, going on a trip, and having a 10yo around.

Glad you guys seemed to have fun,

also, thanks for posting the specs here.

specs posted to op for this week!

Please join us if you can!

Ask any questions if you don't understand what we're doing differently this week.  It should be something to break the monotony at the very least!

Specs for this week are still being ironed out.  But it will probably be American Muscle cars, termed "Fogy" cars a while back in a defunct series from the PSN.

If you want to start buying cars, it will be anything considered a muscle car from the late 60s early 70s, no Shelby's or Vettes, at around 525pp and 1500kg.

We are also looking at a hp limit around 500hp...

In the meantime, here is a video from one of last week's races.  This is not our normal race format, just an experiment.

Cool, cool. I will be out this Saturday, but I had a blast last weekend. I would have played in the dirt for the second half, but I was discoed right at qualifying start.

See you all soon.   :)

Hi Brindle. :)

It's not too bad.
I'm a DS3 user, and with the SH tires, the car is relatively stable. It can get a bit squirelly, but you almost have to make it break loose. So, I'd assume it's even better with a wheel. I was having a blast in the corkscrew while testing @ Laguna Seca.  :o

Guess you don't know I use a DS3 also.  I have however, started using the wheel again for the past 2 weeks.

Thanks for the info on the car. :)

What setup do you guys use on the controller?  I could barely beat bronze on the academy with a controller.

and Brindle, good to see you back.

Hi GoesTuna11.

If you're referring to the controller sensitivity, I have mine set at "5".

Or did you mean car set up?
