1:36.450 after my first stint.
I'm struggling with this combo a bit. Haven't raced at Apricot Hill much in years. Before today, I think I've only put in about 10 laps or so there on GT6.
So far I think 1:35.750 will be my goal.

The car / tire combo wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting, I think I actually disliked the track choice more (or probably just suck more at it than other tracks LOL).

Mid 35's is also my goal for this.
I will say the main thing here is to really focus on line and waiting for the right moments to use throttle. A little too much sends your line too far to the outside, while not enough causes you to not carry enough speed through the corners.
The esses are the best way to illustrate this.
Also, note that when I got that time above, it was while I was thinking about something else. So don't be afraid to just "feel" it and think about spill chick or something :D

I got a couple laps in last night and it shocked me how strict they are on the track boundaries this year, if you fart near the edge your lap gets dq'd. It's better to have that than track cutting, but it was just an observation.

So far .057 short of gold, with about 7 laps run. I keep loosing a lot of time in the turn just before the chicane. I can't seem to find the right coast/brake/accelerate combination to maintain a good line for the chicane. The car also seems lethargic in general. Which is odd considering this car is in the weight and power class that I prefer to run at this track.
The weekend should be good. Lots of time to turn laps and get the proper rhythm going.

I watched a few replays, then found myself short on time. I only managed one clean lap and it was in the 40's. One cup has it right, I barely touched the grass on the side of the track and insta red lap.
I too think I will attack this nice and fresh Saturday morning. :)

I didn't have any trouble with the combination and got Gold on the second lap, but it was only a hair under the limit, so this will take a bit of work.

I put a few laps in last night but forgot to write my time down, I think it's a 1:36.1xx. This track has always frustrated me with all the long descending apex corners; I have trouble not getting the front end to bite as things tighten up. I'll see if I can find some more time, when I can find them time.

I spent a couple hours last night trying to break into the 35's too. I have the ability to do it on every corner, but not all together at once (yet). If I could do a great lap before, and then carry speed through that chicane, I'd be set and hard-pressed to improve much more.
I have high motivation to beat my current time, though of 1:36.129 because I'm tied exactly with one of my friends :D Can't let that stand!

I know titech & immortal are not eligible. I thought I read somewhere all Australians are eligible this year, no matter if they went to camp in the past. Which would make Dan Holland eligible this year.

My time is almost identical to Brindle's, 1'37.0xx. I forget the exact numbers. I was at it for about an hour, maybe, and was getting lots of 1'37.5s. I might put in a second session at some point. It's a tough and fun combo. I find the limit hard to find. My time dropped drastically when I starting braking Very hard in straight line, and letting it slide early in the corner. I can see why Chrome stopped watching the timer.

Also, awesome time Turbo. As a side note, I really want to push myself on this track as I suspect the final will be on some track I despise. :) Even though I do not know it too well it is a simple yet challenging track.

If they do unveil a new track for it, my guess is Interlagos.

Agreed. No Silverstone please. The only track more boring than Fuji. I seriously get sleepy there.

Ascari is not half bad when your driving something more pleasant to drive than a Bugati.

stepper - you're right with us until the last section or so. if you focus on that part of the track, i'd bet you're closer to a 36.0

I will say that your biggest area for improvement would be the right-hander after the back straight. I launch ahead of you and tguns there before you pass me again on the last chicane...
I need to follow your technique for the long hairpin though, because that starting out wide shit is adding more track distance. I don't get how the leaders were doing that for a while with better results :-\

They are carrying a lot more speed there, as they are faster on the exit of the esses.

It is really not that bad of a car. If you can give us some more information as to what it is doing I know people here can steer you in the proper fast direction.
I can tell you after watching some of the aliens replays, you need to do everything early. Brake, turn in, throttle, all of it, sooner. Especially in the esses. Get turn one down first though. I lost a ton of time there to begin with, the follow that up with smooth and quick in the esses. Followed by drawing out and carrying all that momentum through the sweeping left handier and down to the hairpin. Try and watch some of the top ten replays for the hairpin. Then attack the effing chicane (best to follow that hairpin replay through to the chicanes) like nobody's business. :)

I use the DFGT wheel.
I can't stop and I can't turn. I think that might have something to do with it, along with my missing mojo. Also also, I can't get through the chicane either :(
