Title: Euro Trip Itinerary--Day 4
Post by: RickS95 on April 23, 2013, 01:20:39 PM
Day 4 of our Euro Trip will be on Thursday, May 23th at 9 PM EST in Feldynn's lounge.  After we fill up the IRR trucks with cases upon cases of Belgian beer, we'll head West-Southwest over the border and into France to likely finish this European expedition with some laps at Circuit de la Sarthe (one of the layouts with chicanes).

We might still have the option of running more events at made up tracks in Spain and back to Italy, or we could possibly run the Mother of all tracks in Germany as a finale.  We'll see how everyone feels after tearing up Sarthe and drinking some crappy French beer.

French beer blows, that's why we're loading up the IRR trucks with good stuff before heading to France.  Somehow, some of the guys that went to Silverstone a couple years ago liked Kronenbourg, but I had some one at EPCOT and thought it tasted like the water from the nearby lagoon.

Chimay and Huyghe beers for me thanks!

There are 8 Trappist breweries and 6 of them are in Belgium.  They've been making beer for a beerzillian years and they've got it down pat.  The 8rd Trappist brewery was just awarded Trappist status a year or so ago and I think is in Austria maybe.  I've had beers from the other 7 and they're all world class.  As we're loading up the IRR trucks, we'll throw in some Chimay and then make some other stops so you can try a few of the others.  I think you'll enjoy.

Same rules as the last three evnets:

Sports soft tires
Twin plate clutch
Semi-racing flywheel
Carbon drive shaft
Fixed sports kit suspension

We'll be running the Circuit de la Sarthe--2005 with chicanes layout.  16 laps and like the last race, penalties will be set to mild.

Please use the same car you've been driving and don't switch to the Jag just because it's the fastest.

Jag's the fastest here?

So you're saying there's a chance!

When I did testing a couple months back, it was the fastest of the four cars by over a second a lap.  In the three previous races, the Jag literally pulls away on the straights from the Alfa I've been driving.  With the draft the other cars can likely keep up, but if a Jag breaks loose from the pack, the race is over unless the guy can't handle the turns.

Suddenly I have an urge to loan my Jag to B-spec Bob to get it fully broken in.. I think was I was driving a Jag at the beginning right? :D

If I remember right, the Jag has a fuel fetish.  I ran some laps in my Alfa last night and my tires gave out before my tank went empty, but I also spun three different times.

I was really hoping to make the race a bit more strategic, but the course is so long I couldn't figure out how to make it happen.  With it being 16 laps, I don't believe anyone can make it on just one stop so no car should have a fuel consumption advantage.

Also, the penalties are set on weak, so us slower guys in the Aston or Alfa might be able to catch up when you guys overcook it in the chicanes.   :laugh

The Jag guzzles fuel like I drink beer tailgating for a football game!

You generally mention before the race that, yes, you will finish.  But each race typically ends with you in a commentary role.

Mac...you actually finished the first race.  I think it's the metric system throwing you off.  Maybe if we do this again in the States, you'll have the fuel consumption thing down pat.  Stupid liters.

Guys I want to apologize.

-I was late, you restarted (partially) for me
-background conversation on my end was loud, I'm sorry for that distraction
-i was racing like crap and left early

It was poor form and you know I'm usually better than that.  So once again please accept my apologies.
