A livery editor was something mentioned a few months back as "yes we're working on something that will be more than just paint chips, but not sure when it will be ready"

I don't think it's a definite NO for GT6... yet.  I think it's just not very high on their to do list.  :-\

Looks like the black / white Nissan sponsored 2012 Deltawing and the chrome / red 2013 Deltawing, I wonder if they have different performance specs in real life and if this has been carried through into the game.

Also poking around GTPlanet for some basic info on the GT6 launch party thing in Ronda this week, from this article:

“Simulating Everything” feature theme detailing atmospheric changes: time, temperature, humidity, clouds, dispersion of the atmosphere.

Interesting, does this actually mean temperature and humidity will play a part in how the car / tires handle?

Possibly, and that's the only reason I can see why a track temp would matter and be shown on the screen.  But PD doesn't always complete all of their thoughts out to their natural conclusion!

Another thing I wonder is if places like the Eiger Nordwand or Matterhorn tracks, which are mountainous, have drizzle at one temperature, could they be freezing rain or snow at another temperature?

Don't look for PD to answer these things, especially the track surface "weather" and how it affects your car's performance -- it will likely take a good deal of testing and consensus before we really know.

GT does a lot of cool things but almost perfect is not a word that I would use.  One key limitation that GT has is that it is a sim paid for by gamers.  As such there will always be little aids to make things easier that can't be disabled (eg. there seams to be an autoblip and cars don't unsettle properly over curbs.)  Some things are just hard to do on a console like a proper data logger and proper data analysis.

Well, can't argue with you there. I guess I'm coming to grips with this fact now.

But to backup my claim of "almost perfect", consider this. We all know racing isn't fun when you get a tool in the room driving the wrong way. iRacing solves this problem with software. They detect contact and assign blame universally. It's a non-optimum solution, but it works out in the long run because good drivers are able to avoid incidents, most of the time. The problem for me, however, is it changes the nature of the race. I found myself just trying to survive, being extremely defensive and celebrating when I finished a race on the lead lap, rather than when I won a race.

GT does not try to fix this problem. Instead, we have a community like this one that encourages clean driving through camaraderie and the spirit of the Tuna. And I enjoy that environment a lot more. Obviously, iRacing has similar communities. But they often choose a more authoritarian stance on these kinds of things that I find unappealing.

Combine that with a physics model that I think is overrated ... and a fixed racing schedule ... and well, if it were free I would consider it equal to GT. But if I have to pay for it? Who knows, I may go back someday, especially if they fix the physics simulation on the MX5. But GT6 would have to really get it wrong. We will see.

a few of us will be able to drive our cars in GT6, so we'll know pretty soon how accurate the modelling of the driving characteristics of those cars are, very quickly.

We should post about our MX-5, Evo, and BR-Z experiences once we find those cars! (there are a few others here who have cars in GT too, I just can't remember which ones)

I spent a lot of time going back and forth between iRacing's Laguna Seca and GT5's version.  All of the elevation changes, cambers changes, and bumps were in the GT5 version.  A combination of the road texture and field of view makes it look a little flatter but if you look closely, everything is still there.

And after it appeared that Wiz was passing on our suggestions, I guess I let my expectations get too high.
