Jean Todt is almost singlehandedly ruining Formula One.  He can go screw himself for all I care.  >:(

From the guy who was behind the last 4 World Championships comes the following.

F1 teams should not be involved in cost-cutting rules - Horner
By Dieter Rencken and Jonathan Noble   Tuesday, June 24th 2014, 13:11 GMT

Red Bull boss Christian Horner believes that the only way for effective cost control rules to work in Formula 1 is if the teams are not involved in agreeing them.

After several months of discussions aimed at bringing about a dramatic reduction in expenditure failed to produce solutions, Horner has suggested that the biggest block to progress is the teams themselves.

Horner: How F1 can sort its cost crisis

Under the current system, teams are able to influence rules in the F1 Strategy Group, and then also get a vote on agreeing them at F1 Commission.

Horner told AUTOSPORT he thinks a better way forward would be for motor racing's governing body and commercial chiefs to sort the rules out alone.

"The FIA should write those, together with [commercial rights holder Formula One Management], then the teams have the choice, when they enter the world championship, whether they enter or not," said Horner in an exclusive interview with AUTOSPORT.

"They sign up to those rules."

Horner suggests that it is impossible to get agreement from teams to make significant changes to the rules because each outfit is so focused on its own competitiveness.

"You've got too many vested [interests] in there," he said. "You've got Ferrari, you've got their historical position, McLaren, and you've got a different position for Red Bull or Mercedes.

"So you're never going to get everybody in line."

Eccelstone keeps the waters muddied so it seems like he is a necessary influence. Not to mention the teams vote on the rules so for the current arrangements they had a chance to vote them down.
As for future rules, Horner is right you cannot have the Strategy Group made up of the five biggest teams plus one making the rules for everyone or else it will end up lopsided, the race results later on will be that way because in the end the big teams have the budgets to find the way to make things happen. But that kind of upper hand leverage does not need to come into play in the creating of the rules, by doing so the bigger teams look like little more than school yard bullies.

Most of the current teams were strong armed into the current engine configuration.  Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes had absolutely no interest in going to an I4, then changed to V6 turbo format.  Instead Renault threatened to withdraw as a powertrain provider, and Honda would not have recommitted for 2015.

The engines sound like complete ass, and all this fuel efficiency bullshit is ruining the series.

Of course, the measures the FIA has taken in F1 compares to the bastardization of Le Mans that the ACO has been overseeing.

Seriously, the days where top level motorsports stood for speed, handling and nothing else may be behind us.  The EU is obsessed with the global warming boogeyman and sadly they're the ones in charge of these motorsport bodies.

Probably old news, but I noticed last night that the game now shows the "countdown has begun" and timer, while in the tuning menu.

It's not too old, they just added that with 1.09 update.

I really cannot wait for the course maker with GPS mapping.  Then we can all race around my housing development's streets!  Or the campus of my alma mater, NCSU.

Was doing a few "scrimmages" with TunaPhreak last night and I was disco'd twice within the span of one hour.   >:(

Anyone else still suffering from network instability?  I'm paranoid that we're gonna have a disco disaster, again, at Green Hell tomorrow night  :(

I firmly believe it's a conflict with some sort of local or ISP settings that causes this, or a conflict between two participants.  I have had probably only one or two disco's with GT6 ever, and only a large handful of disco's over the course of GT5.  I also have very shitty bandwidth, so that's not the issue...

What room settings are you using, btw?  Fixed or non-fixed, and what race quality voice quality?

I always run GT Sats (when I am host) with non-fixed, high quality race (not highest) and Normal voice.

Good luck!!!!!
