Way to go Dude,

Awesome race 1 and I'm just sorry that I couldn't have done better myself. Team Nissan with a 1rd and 6st. Dude took the lead in I think the 2rd lap and never looked back.

I got taken out and never recovered, I must thank Dawson for waiting even though he isn't the one who spun me out.

Good fun and I look forward to the next race.

Great job teammate.

ACK!  You're welcome.  There was a lot of contact in that turn so I thought I'd wait, as from my POV it was tough to tell who was at fault.

I'm happy to say me and Phreak took 2nd and 3rd places for Team UK.  That gave Tunas a podium sweep for this race!

Great racing guys!

Team UK, excellent strong finish. I knew you guys would be strong and consistent to the end. I was just hoping I had enough of a gap to get to the finish before my tires were completely gone. Sorry to hear about your shunt LLF. Way to go to run it to the finish.

Next day or 2 here. http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=232052 (http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=232052) There are more races in the series and the host (EivlEvo) is still accepting new teams.

Wiz, its up to you if you want to run the series. I figure you got a lot on your plate as it is, but if you wanna run I'm down. I've been wanting to run against so planeteers, and this might be a casual way to do that. Any particular make you want to run? I hate to say this as it goes against my religion, but I'm leaning towards team Chevy. Ahh, damn. I'm going to hell for sure.
Title: Re: Manufacturers Team Championship
Post by: Wiz on December 15, 2011, 09:35:50 PM
Yeah I'm in.  I've been wanting to race some GTP guys too.   After all, I am one.  :D

I was thinking Mazda when I first looked at the list just because there's so damn many to choose from.  But I just looked a little closer and 70% of them are either Miata's or RX-7's.  Meh.

I'd like to use Ford, as I'm sure you would too, but there really isn't much to choose from.

I agree, I like the looks of Chevy/Cadillac/Buick/Pontiac and am leaning that way as well.  That group has a little bit of everything.  4 RM cars, Corvettes, Camaros...  the Pontiac GTO is quick and the Solstice probably isn't bad on the lower end of the spectrum.  The Cadillac Cien is fast with the right tune as well.

I think that group is our best bet.  I say we go with it.

Once I get the ok from you to roll with Chevy, I'll post over there letting them know we're wanting to join.  Just curious, do you have an account over there?

What kind of times are you guys seeing at GVS?

I did a lot of testing over the weekend and was able to get down to low 1:58s in the Calibra Super Touring '94 car as well as Lotus Esprit V8 TT.  However both of those cars are quite the handful and I was barely slower with the RM Elise 111R, which I was able to lap consistently in the high 1:58 - mid 1:59 range.

So looks like Team UK will be trumpeting Colin Chapman's motto again this week "Add Lightness!"  (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif)

I only tested street cars. Didn't realize we could run whatever. Guess I need to pull out an RMed Camaro or Vette. Best Lap so far is 1:59 in a Z06.

The vehicle requirements vary race by race.  No racing vehicles were allowed in the first race.  But this time around...yes  :D

Also, I would like to get some practice in tonight. I will be a little late though. (7;30 or 8 PST) I will check lounges before I start mine up.

On second thought, we should all have EivlEvo so I'm going to go to his lounge for practice tonight. That way anyone in the series can get in for practice if they like.

Only one of the Chevy RM or LM cars will work this time around and it's the '69 RM Camaro.  All the others come in at over 550PP stock and we can only use 6kg ballast and can't use the power limiter at all so we have no way to lower the PP.

I think you and I are stuck with street cars this week.

Well damn we can't use the power limiter? If I get some time today, I'll run an RMed 69 Camaro and see if it's any faster. We may be in for a long race of looking at the tailights of that R390.

I have a feeling it's the Lotus that will be the cars to beat. I'm concerned they may not have to pit.

And poor LFL has yet to turn up an R390 in his used car lot. I can't send him one because its cost is a million bucks.

No.  I think he mentioned it will not be announced until right before race time to keep us guessing.  I'm guessing anywhere from 20 to 23.

Not sure how they expect a driver to put together a strategy if they don't know the length of the race until right before it's run.

Figure 50 minutes to an hour of racing. My guess is around 25 laps.

I ran it in online practice last night for about an hour and managed a 1'57.448 best. Most laps are around the 1'59 time.

The race series organizer is doing that intentionally to keep people on their toes.  Regardless I am pretty sure all the races will be between 45-60 minutes long so I think you can figure it out from there (if that's true).

I think you'll have a few options for tire wear (instead of just on off).  That way you can bring pit stops into the equation for shorter races whereas in the past you need 30 minute + long races just to being pit stop strategy into play.  I hope that it remains clear which setting is the same as the existing "on" setting so that we're not all thrown out of whack :o

Congrats to Wizard and Dude for running away with this one. I believe they were 45 seconds ahead of Dawson (Wolfpack) in 3st with Sniper not far behind in 4rd.

After running around trying to find the R390 I gave up and had to find a car with 2 hours to go before the room opened. I settled on the GT-R '07 and got it to 1:58:850 just before the start.

At the start it was Wizard. Sniper, Dude and myself running away from the rest and when Dude got by Sniper he took off with Wizard and I never saw them again.

Then my tires were going and I'm pretty sure Snipers were too because we were falling back together. I could see Dawson gaining all the time and knew I had to pit which I did on lap 12 even though it was a 25 lap race.

My car just ate tires and knew it was everything in my power just to make it to the end. With all that went on with car hunting and not a lot of practice I'm very pleased with a 5rd place finish out of 9.

Tuna's from 1 - 5 and sorry Phreak I don't remember exactly where you finished but I'm guessing you had tire troubles as well.

Good fun guys and congrats to Team GM on the 1rd and 4st.

Another fun race!  I had a lot of close wheel to wheel passes that were largely (and at times amazingly) contact free.  I was able to lay down a high 1:57 lap time in qualifying so I was very curious as to why I started 6th of 9 entrants?  Anyone know how the starting grid was set?

In the race itself I was punted off the track on lap 2.  Luckily I was entirely in the grass so my tires weren't scuffed up that much but it put me immediately 20 seconds behind the rest of the field.  Catching up was fun but the tires couldn't go the distance and I finally pitted on lap 18.  I finished roughly 40 seconds back in 3rd place but was gaining a few seconds a lap on the leader at that point :P

Great Tuna showing again, taking all podium positions!  Well done team GM and Nissan especially.  I'm looking forward to the next race after Christmas.

I could see Wiz just ahead, pretty much the whole race, but I never got close enough to do anything. Tire wear was an issue for all, though I must admit it was the hairpin more than anything that added time to my laps. Watching the replay Sniper had nice even tire wear, yep front and rear completely worn out. (Damn fast lap times on rims by the way.) Wolfpack forgot to send the pitstop memo to TunaPhreak. (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif) Leaf you did a great job jumping in that GT-R at the last minute and running some strong laps. I noted during race near the final laps you were sitting in 3st, but with no front tires to speak of that did not last.

Off to pick up bushels of dancing bananas.........

The best way I have seen it done here.

When ready for Q. Host changes track to any other track then back to where race is at. Then set race start time to allow for X amount of Q time. Race will auto start and grid will fill proper by times.

Watching the replay it looked harsh for a couple of you guys.

Fun first race of the series for Wiz and I. I assume he had fun anyway since he won. I waited until about 3 minutes before entering the host's lounge before deciding between the Vette and a Camaro. The Vette won out because it was more fun to drive.

Anyway, qualified 3th (not sure how that happened) and won the drag race to turn one. I think Wiz and Dude let me lead a couple before they got bored, past me and disappeared. Had some good racing with Leaf for most of the race. Towards the end, I had to watch helplessly as Wolfpack and his RMed Lotus passed with 2 laps to go which left me with a 4rd place finish. Not bad I think.

Hope everyone had as much fun as I did. The racing was clean and fast. And when it was all done, the top five wreaked of Tuna. Nice job guys!

Long Line Tunas!!!!

Man that was fun and I have no problem with tire wear from the new update if that was an issue last night. I never got any practice in for this but I couldn't believe the tires were going that fast for me any way.

Can't wait for the next one.

Yeah I'm not sure what happened with the starting grid either.  I asked him about it over at GTP so we'll see what he says.

Great race Tunas!  Had Phreak pitted, I think it would have been a 1th through 6rd finish for us.  Good stuff guys.

I'd guess Dude and I had roughly 20 out of the 25 laps where the same exact thing happpened, lap after lap.  He would close the gap in turns 2,3 & 4, then he would get a little loose coming out of the hairpin, so I'd pull away a little only to have him catch back up to me, especially in the sharp left/right  combo before the long straightaway, but then my power kicked in and I'd pull away a little on the straight.  Rinse and repeat.  Great race, Dude! (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/nanaparty.gif)

I'm glad I decided to try the Camaro, as I wasn't going to originally.

A quick 3 laps @ 300pp around Autumn Ring reverse (offline) yielded a 1'41.xxx. I can see a '40 so I guess I'll shoot for some consistent 39's or something.

I saw it. It's okay to take hookers along for rides. Oh Boy! Hooker rides!

I read it same as Phreak and everyone else here had as 6kg max. I now see we can add as much weight as we want.

With some minor tuning last night I was turning consistent 1:40s with the Triumph.  Given the power and weight of most cars at the 300PP limit I can only imagine that just about everyone will be able to run the entire race without a pit stop.  :-\

TunaPhreak can't attend tonight's race so I am looking for a substitute driver to help me out with Team UK.  The car we'll be using is the Triumph TR4 (that I can dupe for anyone if they don't have it and can help me out).

Race is at 10.  PLEASE reply if you can saddle up!

Great race last night. Brought the Corsa Comfort home 3st. The only excitement I had was getting taken out during a bout of lag from some guy in a Fiat.
Title: Re: Manufacturers Team Championship
Post by: Wolfpack987 on January 04, 2012, 08:21:47 AM
I noticed that lag as well. (from the Fiat).

I was a bit overzealous on the first lap and spun out in the 5th turn :-X  I worked my way back up to 8th by the end of the race though.  Had some tight racing with LastLeafFan, hope he didn't take offense from some slight bumping.  With those slow ass cars it can be incredibly difficult to make a clean pass since you're in close proximately so much :o

Not a problem, I enjoyed our battle but must admit that I was laughing when you must have gone off course 3 or 4 times and have to catch up all over again. I had to pit when my tires were gone and everyone was gaining on me but lost concentration on the last turn and forgot to downshift and ended up in the sand.

I was gaining on the 2 places in front of me and think I could have caught them with a few more laps.

What I did have a problem with was Lancifer punting me off the track in the early going and sending me from 5th to 9th I think and then not saying a word or waiting. I don't know if there is a penalty system but if anyone has a replay and can verify that was who it was I would appreciate it. I don't remember the lap but it was pretty early. I think I could have given 5th or 6th a run though.

Overall I think it was a fairly boring race and look forward to the next one.

DS was our Tuna podium man @ 3st

I knew in advance that I was off pace. I did manage a 1'39.7 in an online free run shortly before the event. I was consistent in the 1'40 to 1'43 most of the race, but the top guys were turning consistent 38's and 39's. We did not get lapped.  :) It was close I was a lap down, but P1 lost tires and I got my (LLF finished on lead lap too) lap back.

Agreed.  I was kind of miffed that the info for this race wasn't posted till 11:30pm this past Thursday night.  At 500PP there are a lot of options.  Meanwhile for the last race we had almost 2 weeks of prep time and pretty much 1-2 vehicle options ???

I think you're just sandbagging!  Also after averaging out lap times over the life cycle of a set of tires I'd say the times are like 2:53  ;D

With only 7 showing up and then Phreak dicoeing I finished 6st, what's up with that  ???. I saw Sniper sign in about half way, not sure what happened there.

What a :fucking mess I made of that, getting lapped twice by the leaders. I will be back.

It's a shame about the low attendance, and I was especially disappointed that my teammate Phreak was kicked off the network  :(  I think he could have held on to 3rd place if not for a "mechanical" failure.  Damn these unreliable British sports cars! (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif)   I spent a lot of time tuning for this track and we had our cars set up fantastically!

Thanks for the kind words LastLeaf.  Sorry your 350Z wasn't working too well, but I appreciate the wide berth you gave me when I went by.  I'm proud of myself for finally having an error free race, and it was good timing to combine that with a well sorted and highly competitive car.  8)

Do you mean the 1rd or 2st time  (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif). I think I did a good job of staying out of everybody's way.

That took a lot of effort when my best lap was a low 2:58  :o. I would spin even when on a constant throttle and no sudden wheel movement.

I had no problems with you bumping when you were around me.  I was more than happy to let you pass me to get back on the lead lap as I gingerly coached my original set of tires the entire 44 laps (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif)

The Evora was heaven on that track.  With the ballast (80kg or so) required to meet the PP limit it wasn't too fast on the straight but the handling...oh the handling 8)

Nice job last night Wolfpack. I had thoughts of going the whole race on one set of tires, but with 10 laps or so to go I chickened out and pitted. It sucks not knowing how much ahead, or behind, you are to those other than the leader. I just wasn't sure if I could make the last few laps and hang on to the position. Anyway, nice job to all the Tuna who raced last night. It was fun.

That was the mast fun I had at one of these. Didn't have the car to compete with the Lotus's or the Solstices but felt I could have had 6th but for some brain farts here and there.

I had mic problems and couldn't hear any voices so I didn't know who was behind me. I know Phreak had a hard time getting around me and I apologize for holding you up, I would have moved over if I had known it wasn't for position. I had a great battle with Trimble all night and could have had him in the last corner but Phreak got some payback when I hit him  (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif). I know you were done and under the control of the game so you couldn't move but you must have been cringing when me and Trimble came up behind you.

Congrats to team UK for wrapping up the championship and if you could see me now I'm spitting on the Lotus  (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif).

Well done everyone and I hope w have some mother FUCKING high HP beast for the last race and please give me racing anything tires.

Thanks Sniper.  And I agree, it would be very useful to know how far you are behind the person in front of you (if its not the leader) as well as how far ahead of the person behind you.  That information would be very useful in planning a pit strategy.

Thanks for all the kind words and summaries in this thread.  I know I've been MIA on these here forums since a bit b4 the holidaze, I'll explain that in another post.  Now on to the matter at hand.

Sorry for any bumps last night.  Especially towards the end of the race.  I was tired as FUCK and my concentration went to shit.

Not sure if this was directed at all towards me or not, but if so, definitely not necessary.  Some of the best/funnest/closest racing I've ever had last night, all around, and Wiz you were a big part of it.  Rubbing's racing, and well, let me just apologize then for any bumps I handed out myself :)

That was the mast fun I had at one of these. Didn't have the car to compete with the Lotus's or the Solstices but felt I could have had 6th but for some brain farts here and there.

Agreed, some of the mast fun I've had too!  No apology necessary for holding me up at all, position wise or not.  I much prefer finding my own way and continually learning the art of the clean pass.  You were doing just fine holding your own until I finally did get around you, and that goes for everyone involved.  There wasn't a single person on the field I felt I could just scoot around and get away from, just goos goos racing all around.  Honestly I think most of my passes occurred from playing the mental game and waiting for whoever I was following to make their own mistake/mental error.  And yeah, I felt bad as well about the collision after my race was over and I was on autopilot.  They should really run the piloted cars on, I don't know, any line other than the "best"....

I will say the START of the race was quite frustrating on a personal level, and I think it hurt me more than most.  Scared if dawson was even going to make it for the start after multiple disco's.  Then when we did start, first I got hit with the glitched count down so I got a false start penalty.  Then I got knocked a few times and held back by the lag of the first disconnector (not his fault at all of course, but I think I was the ONLY person stuck behind him).  Luckily the Evora was such a beast I was able to claw myself all the way from 12th place with about a 6 second gap to the rest of the pack and take 2nd at the end.  Personally, I think it was much more fun than Dawson's clean race, as I had a lot of group/pack battles, and got to pass each and every single one of you during the race (I already have a photo montage planned of where/when I passed who!)

Thanks for the jinx on calling wraps on the series... there is still one race left you know!  I think had I not gotten disco'd last week and held 3rd we might of had a lock... but breakdowns happen.  So yeah, hoping for a high powered final race myself. Thanks again, and good stuff all fellow Tuna!

EDIT: I put together a little photoshoot from race 5 for anyone interested. Click thumbs for 1080 goodness, use the arrows to navigate pages. It's chronological Enjoy!

How's everyone looking for this event?  My best laps are 2:16s and at the moment I'm undecided about using a DTM car or an LM car (with ballast added to meet PP).  I've narrowed it down to 3 choices and am surprised how similar their lap times and tire wear are, despite their weight, power and PP differences (one of my choices maxes out at 580PP but is still competitive, go figure  ::) ).

Decisions decisions!

That was a fun race and congratulations Wizard on the win. Well done.

Myself, I screwed up when in warm up I went to page B in my tuning section but forgot to change to racing softs. I managed to go 10 laps before pitting when I realized my mistake. Now I switch to softs and tried to go the last 10 laps without a pit and that was a mistake because I was on the rims for the last 3 laps.

I think I could have given sniper a run for 5th if not 4th with the softs.

Oh well, live and learn.

Overall a fun series and I would definitely look at running in season 3 if Dude will have me  ::). Maybe with a different manufacturer, Nissan just had too many choices and way too many 4wd`s.

Congrats to team UK on the series win with very consistent races and I`m sure team GM would have been there as well with a full season.

Good times.

^ahh, so you made the same mistake I did then?  I, too, accidentally started the race on Race Hard tires!  (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)  That dropped me back significantly in the field!  I also pitted for the first time on lap 10.  However, I knew that the absolute, riding on the rims, limit for RS tires on my car was 8 laps.  So I took advantage of that knowledge and drove hard on the RS tires, knowing that I'd be pitting again on lap 15.  LastLeafFan, I watched part of your race last night when viewing the replay and saw that your tires were completely gone on lap 18.  When you came around to start lap 19 my jaw dropped when you did not stop to pit  (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/zLOL.gif)

I had a pretty decent battle with my teammate, though it was more swapping positions due to pitting and spin outs rather than close racing  :D  I was pretty proud of myself for closing the gap on DudeTuna over the last five laps (30+ seconds down to a few hundreths at the finish).  However, when viewing the replay I saw Dude trying to pit on lap 16 (I believe), accidentally go into the grass, hit the wall and then pull an Austin Powers and got his car stuck sideways in the pit entrance.  Not to be mean but I almost had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.  (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)  After seeing that misfortune I was glad that Dude was able to hold onto his position ahead of me.

I had quite the oddity occur after the race for me.  I exited the race, collected the prize money (and experience), left the lounge and went back to the main GT menu to view a few things offline.  After I finished watching the reply I decided, out of curiousity, to see if the PP of my Astra had increased over the race (it was after all, a brand new car with 0 miles on the odometer).  PP was the same, 600.  And the total mileage displayed was 0.0.

WTF :-\

My account balance also no longer reflected race winnings.  Do I have some sort of saving error going on with my PS3?  A similar thing occurred with my Jaguar XJ220 LM car before the race.  I had the engine "worn down" to 521 hp, perfect to meet the PP for the race and yet when I cranked up the PS3 today the car had 530 hp ???

Regardless, it was still quite a fun race and the more I run at Spa the more I like it.  It's quite the honor for Team UK to have taken the overall trophy and I would agree that if Team GM had jumped in sooner things would have been more interesting!  The Brits really know how to make some sports cars and the options we had at our disposal were pretty great (I think I only used a non mid-engined car twice, hahaha).

Schedule permitting I think Phreak and I will definitely be up for round 3 of this series whenever it comes back around.  I've already started thinking about which makes/country I'd like to represent next time  ;D

Also I wanted to add Congrats to Wiz on his win.  You really dominated the field and executed flawlessly!  Hat's off to you good sir

Nice win Wizard, I could never close the gap enough to put any real pressure on you. Excellent Championship victory Team UK.

Austin Powers LOL that is exactly what it felt like.

I pulled the same stunt when entering the pit lane when I was just doing practice.  So during the race I was EXTRA careful on that entrance to not repeat my mistakes. :copz:

Well done Wiz on the victory. I wish my Camaro would have been half as fast as yours.

Congrats to team UK on a well deserved championship win. Nice job guys.

I definitely had a lot of fun the whole season, and surely think GM would of given us a run for our money if not for a few missed races.

Congrats wiz on another amazing run.  I'm starting to think you use actual wizardry in this game :P

Looking forward to the next round!
