^Sorry Ronin! I wanted to keep the car list relatively short, well rounded and all 2 door coupes!
I'm gonna start this in a few weeks (just once a month races though). Figure 15 minutes practice/qualifying (time depends on the circuit length) and then we'll line up for a 45 min race. Any specific questions just ask. If you want to participate please state which days of December are NOT good for you :D
I'll be out of town from tonight through Sunday so I most likely will not be around till then.
Have a great weekend everyone :jimi:

It probably is, but in general I try to avoid Wednesdays as that seems to be when Sony does PSN or GT5 updates.
What about including a 1990 Mazda RX-7 GTX?
Yeah that's perfect.
Great opening race Wolfpack! Decent turn out and a good spread of cars too made for some great racing moments! There were a few spin outs here and there but nothing major resulted, I think everyone did a great job of racing clean but respectfully hard.
Thanks for setting it up Wolfpack, looking forward to the next race!
LooneyTuna I don't like doing events on Friday or Saturday nights either so we'll try to avoid that.
Metal, do you mean you can only play those nights till 1030pm? Or that the event must start by then? Either way I don't think it'll be a problem. Metal we would love to have you aboard. At this point I technically have 16 people signed up. However I am sure that come the day of the race there is always 1-2 people that can't make it.
Sorry for my absence lately, I will be able to start making the races from here on out. Holidays were busy for me.
If I haven't been bumped yet that is. :-[
The "second coming" of race #1, held last Tuesday (the 20th) was a fun event with 7 participants (3 of whom had already done the race back on the 15th). The results are as follows:
1st - dawson864 - Toyota MR2 GT-S '97 (no points)
2nd - kngrsll - Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec II '95
3rd - Valrik - Nissan Skyline GT-R V-spec II '95 (no points)
4th - Cainius - Honda S2000 '99
5th - SonicZoom82 - Acura NSX '91(has to change car)
6th - blasphemour - Acura NSX '91 (no points and has to change car)
7th - chazz1x - Acura NSX '91 (has to change car)
I'm not sure how to integrate points from this race with the race held on the 15th. Obviously points do not count twice for people that participated in both (if you were in Race 1 then points count from that race. The second one gives you no points). The question is what to do with the people that weren't in race "1", that being kngrsll, Cainius, SonicZoom and Chazz1x.
I have an idea of how to integrate them but I'm open for any suggestions...?
BUMP BUMP BUMP
The next race is this coming Wednesday night at 9pm (with practice before that). Be there or be square! (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)
No kidding! Tuna cup sun, SPA Enduro on wed, and this on thur....i'm gonna be tired lol...
Crap! Haven't turned a lap yet. :(
Hey man it's 40 laps at Madrid. You should have gotten an email about it from me a few weeks ago? My outbox says the 5th. Lemme know if you didn't get that. ;D
I thought I posted the schedule in this thread, if not I apologize!
December - Tokyo
January - Madrid
February - Daytona Roadcourse
March - Laguna Seca
April - Circuit de la Sarthe
May - Rome
June - Monza
July - Indy Roadcourse
August - Suzuka
Will there be a short "pre-race" to check server race conditions. Would be a good practice anyway.
480! ;D
Whaaaaa? Surely your S2000 was set to 480PP for the first race! I mean you came in 2nd and smoked most of the field (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)
What's going on over there... (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/zLOL.gif)
I was able to get around 13 laps without suffering too much on tires. But that was with some skids and wall smacks ;)
This race MIGHT be possible to complete with just one pit stop, but most will need two I think. That is assuming Race Mediums cannot be swapped for Hards.. .correct?
it's more like 1:30.
FML, that's less than a second off my best period :-X
Good thing the Supra has a big ass, with which to block others! :D
it's more like 1:30.
My best at 450pp was 132.257.

you do know by now that it's supoposed to be 480, right? or is that what you meant?
1:29.6
I have a questions...
Is there any qualifying procedure, or do you just wing it for this evnet?
I have a questions...

There is supposed to be 15 minute qualifying right before the race. We wanted to check for a lag bug last night and I guess that was used as qualifying? :-\ I thought it was strange what happened, but whatever.
AND probably most importantly. Though I liked meeting all of your friends Dawson, if someone hasn't raced in a long time they should be asked to do some serious practicing before joining the lounge on race day and briefed on some more etiquette stuff. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, but there were some frustrating moments.
reverse was better than normal order because the pre-race/test race was so chaotic that I never got a clean lap in without being punted... starting in 7th when fried would be 1st would have not been fair because I had the fastest lap on the course. At least with reverse order the fast guys had to battle through the same situations...

an hour of prep sometime within a month would seem like a no brainer.
How does every other Wednesday sound for the remainder of the series? The next race would be February 9th, then 22nd (conveniently side stepping the week with Valentine's day ;) )

Sorry as well Ex, I wasn't trying to be an ass, just wasn't the race I expected.
ok sorry it showed the fastest was still a couple tenths above that on my screen. the poijnt was that we should have been starting near each other rather than being spread out.
Fried, can I ask what you did to combat understeer in the Supra? I intentionally limited tuning for this series so maybe it's not possible but I thought I would ask.
Provoking power on oversteer in the Supra seems impossible to me. I've got the front suspension on full soft, rear full hard. A few degrees of camber in the front, none in the back. And I've got the LSD set to 5 for accel and deccel. Also had brake balance slightly rearward
I don't mean to say the Supra understeers a lot off the bat, but the front tires wear much faster than the rears and then the understeer ensues.
You are correct. A higher number does lock the diff tighter. HOWEVER, in most situations, a tighter locked diff will result in wheel slippage. It just depends on when/how you want that to occur, as to weather it is helping or hurting you.
is there a really good thread or article out there somewhere anyone would recommend?
I'm not sure I fully understand it all, but I have beliefs that I use.
Initial is a mystery for me. It seems to work with Acceleration to control what happens under throttle. I always use 7-8, factory settings for most cars is 5, adjustable LSD is 10. except for the LM Prototype cars. It seems that a higher number like 20 helps stabilize them mid corner/apex.
Acceleration controls how the torque is applied on the gas.
Higher number means that the wheels lock sooner/quicker, so that they turn the same speed. This sounds like it would automatically cause understeer. What I'm reading here though, with some cars, is if your back end gets minor oversteer (?) regardless of LSD, a higher setting will not hurt, but in fact let the back end slide around slightly, in a nice balanced way (?)
Lower number means that the wheels are free to turn at different speeds more. I always use a number between 25 and 35, usually somewhere between the factory setting and the Adjustable LSD default. If you lower it too much, especially with a low Initial setting, you can lose a lot of acceleratin - in fact, you can use this as a form of tractin control if you really want to.
any corrections?

I was finally looked up my settings (after being away) to compare to what you gave me Brindle...and realized that perhaps you're using the fully customized suspension? The series calls for height adjustable sports kit suspension only :-X
time to switch? (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)
They should be closer together to help turn in and ride height should be lower in rear to induce understeer..
More accel would add power oversteer to a car as well as the initial, but be careful with initial. Brake setting seems fine.
Off my head I ran... -3/-3, 9.2/9.9, 2/3, 3/2, 1.1/1.3 lsd 32/36/22
Other than that

I've been away most of the last week so I was a bit behind. Please forgive me ;D
Hmmm, I wonder if we have slightly different Supra RZs? I didn't mean to make false accusations, but with the height adjustable suspension I cannot adjust to the spring rates you say you're using. ??? :-\ That is utterly bizarre. I'll recheck tonight I guess, though I had the screen up last night and looked :-X
eXxBoxFan, I am going to post that up today. I apologize for not doing sooner. I've been away most of the last week so I was a bit behind. Please forgive me ;D

On this track I was barely getting into 6th on the longest "straight" and was hitting right around 160. Best lap time so far of a 2:00.132
I got a 1:55.5 last night in my nsx.
Is qualifying at 9:00 or race start?
Is it OK if I come out with a car that meets specs to see if there is room?
Don't look for Wolfpack LLF. Dawson864 (?) Or, follow my dot. ;)
Yes it's dawson864.
And yes I think there will be room for the remainder of the series.
Argh, no more Acuras!!! (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/zLOL.gif)
Yeah, Feldynn and I were able to turn a bunch of laps last night before Wolfpack got kicked off and then Jay joined in later, and while as Ex said it's not ALL the car, that NSX definitely seemed to go faster easier than anything else I tried out! LLF, I def have both the 97 and 99 standard type S, can send it when I finally get home from work if you're still going to run, please do![/color]
And I think Feldynn and I both officially gave up on the GTO. There are definitely faster cars out there than others, and between tire wear and lap times, the poor Mitsu comes in on the lower end. I'm not gonna straight bandwagon jump to the NSX, but I will hop in the Nissan ship as I don't think anyone's used the 300Z yet this series. That I was at least able to pull fairly consistant 1:57's-58's with and keep tires for around 10 laps.
I will say that I like the pack of cars, and while the PP system is obviously flawed as stated many times before, I think if we distributed the slower cars to the faster guys, we'd have some tight pack racing in this group/car combo. Maybe if everyone wants to run a season 2 we distribute cars based on the overall standings here :)

If you could send me the '97 that would be amazing.
Any tips on tuning with this suspension? Can we only adjust the height? I've never done this before, just automatically buy the fully adjustable one every time.
I will be there if I can turn a few laps before race time. I'm afraid that I would just get in everyone's way with a new car and no testing. Don't want to ruin anyone's race.
Also what time does the room open?

No problem, I'll check the thread when I get home in case someone else already sent it, otherwise expect around 6 if I hopefully remember.
Yeah, you can buy the height adjustable suspension. So far most every car I've tried out on this course I would lower it nearly to the max, up the spring rate to the max or close, and same with damper. The height adjustables don't have a very large tuning margin :P Then you can adjust camber to your liking and I think that's all that's open. It was intentionally limited tuning to try to limit the necessary practice/tuning needed between weeks.I'm going to jump on a limb and say it will be hosted in my lounge again as Wolfpack seemed to have network issues last night.I'll be hosting in my lounge. Look for it to open between 8 and 8:30 (hopefully closer to 8 as stated), officially starting at 9pm EST. If I'm not IN the room, please don't join yet I'm trying to keep myself the host of my own lounge.
Bwahahahaha
well, it would have been nice to stay in the race since i was doing well, but the wed update crashed my connection to the GT5 servers.
I spun out at the bus stop on I think it was the 1rd lap and promptly went from 6st to next to last and thought my race was over.
Congrats on the win Feldynn.
I apologize for the delays at race start. I thought that Psycho was hosting in my lounge not his and thus a few participants were temporarily left out in the cold. 2 other participants also informed me (after i sent them semi-annoyed texts) that they haven't gotten any of my race related emails (this ppl aren't on any GT5 related boards). Lol, oops!
Race 3 Results!
1 Feldynn - 50:40.196
2 exXboxFan - 50:44.443 + 4.247
3 Looney_Tuna - 52:03.832 + 1:23.636
4 PsychoPreak - 52:07.918 + 1:27.722
5 dawson864 - 52:12.651 + 1:32.455

7 blashphemour - 53:34.211 + 2:54.015
8 LastLeafFan + 2 laps (?)
9 Metal - DNF
Congrats to Feldynn for some great driving and excellent pit strategy. Condolences to LastLeaf who had great difficulty finding the pit entrance (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif) and Metal for the disconnect.

Fix'd, I was so far behind you didn't even know I was there. I was knocked off course earlier in that lap
I'm glad I stuck with it and ran some consistent laps, stayed out for 14 laps before 1rd pit stop. I held on, barely, to bring home 3st.
This
Looney, I saw that. I think it was Canius that tapped you into the grass on the outside of that right turn (entrance to banking)? I hope that didn't piss you off too much. I'll mention to him to be more mindful about incidental contact and yielding. Either way a pretty good race for you I think!
I guess so, I just thought that was on lap 2. I figured that was when I went to 7th or so. All I know is there were cars all over the place. I still don`t know how I missed Dawson when he spun entering the oval from the infield. Just luck going through the cloud of smoke (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif).
Who was it that drove in the pit exit by mistake. I was laughing over that one plus I don`t know who it was but I T boned someone at turn 1. Couldn`t avoid them as they were across the whole track.
Good laughs throughout and great run Looney going from that far back.
I think you got 2st twonce now, so you'd hypothetically be able to grab an NSX and win the next one.
you'd not be forced to switch, but could ify ou wanted to
I know it's 2 weeks away but I just have 1 question.
Does anyone know where the pit is at Laguna Seca (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)
Goos looking times Looney! Between that and your weight advantage (towards tire wear) I would say you're in good shape coming into the race.
my best is now a 1:52.1 and I know I have a 1:51 in me if I could get that golden lap in.
i'd hate to see how fast you are when you are on pace!
if you practice with short races instead of free run mode, you get a better idea of lap times and how consistent you can get them. The tire wear and aero aren't the same in free run.
Is there a conflict on the 7rd with Baked's Birthday Bash the same night?
OKay cool.
BTW track configuration posted (2005 w/chicanes)
Cool. I'm not sure I'll be entering, I'll ask about entry closer to the event.
Interesting note...I did a few laps in an S2000 and a Supra...same top speed on the track.
Looney, I was using basically the same tune listed on page 15 of this thread for a few laps and it worked well. I think my engine only had the bolt ons/turbos required to make 480PP, no power reduction. It may help, it may not. Good luck!
^You could try adjusting your brake bias more towards the front (if you haven't already). Stock is 5/5. Going to 5/3 or so should help.
caution to everyone... check your car immediately before entering track. My car got switched to Sports Softs while I was practicing in Lounge earlier, and I thought I was just sucking hardcore. Turns out wrong tires.

there really isn't that much difference between offline and online now days, and for this track, hardly any difference at all.
if you're just trying to practice your line around the track, do so in offline Practice mode so you can see your ghost and look for places to beat it.
the first S curve after the start is going to be tricky. please those with cars in front, brake a little early there and once we're through that we shouldn't be bunched up any more for the rest of the race.
but that is a place where one person could ruin the race for a lot of people...
There's a lot I want to say about how awesome that was and how much fun I had, but it's dinner time so I'll stick with very nice race Turbo, and here's a few shots from the event, enjoy!

Sorry I haven't posted the lap count for this race yet. I was out of town for a week and have just been getting back into the swing of things. Should have that info up tonight as long as nothing comes up.
Bump for race tonight!
See you assholes in there ;D
I am switching to another car if that's still okay. I'm not going to listen to any more bitching about the NSX. I'm getting pretty sick of it.If you want to switch for a more personal challenge (I'd say you're def one of the fastest in this group) then I say go for it. Sick of people bitching about the NSX though? Who? Someone will always have something to bitch about, and someone will ALWAYS bitch about the NSX :P

However, driving the best car does not guarantee wins. One less mistake and I could have been ahead of Dawson at the end.:stoopid:
What kind of times are people getting for this one?
My best are low 2:01s so far.
That would be cool Dude!
and 158.011 ;D
My last time post was from practice, this one is from my lobby. Virtually no difference now. Nice. :jimi:
Come on out Dude
I'll leave the door open for ya
I likely won't be able to make it tonight's race :(, sorry for the short notice.
:stoopid:I likely won't be able to make it tonight's race :(, sorry for the short notice.
Sorry you probably won't make it Feldynn! Short notice is fine. It's no notice that pisses me off >:(
:( Sorry wolf, i was getting some sleep to get ready for 3rds tonight, and i completely overslept. Hope the race went well for everyone!
I was just dropping in for a race and had not been in for the entire series so when you mentioned lag and me hitting you I left to avoid messing up the race. Sorry all.
I did some practice laps and a lonely 10 lap race. I saw lots of 1'39s and (slight guess) would not want to push tires beyond 12 laps or so. Lap 10 was getting quite weak, more than 12 may be useless.
(side notes, 30 laps should be around 50 min, 35 laps should around an hour. I don't know what the Wolfman will throw at us, but for me, those ranges result in a two stop race. There's no way I'll go 15 laps on a set of tires)
And yes Looney I realize its not a fancy trip this time...gotta slum it every once in a while :( :P
Also can someone remind Metal so he doesn't miss this! >:(
