If you're interested in a leaderboard system, RSR LiveTiming is the way to go. Note that laps must be run in either Hotlap mode or Race mode in order to register.

You can enable the Dev Apps by doing the following...
On your install drive, navigate to "Program files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\system\cfg" and open the assetto_corsa.ini.
There you have to change ENABLE_DEV_APPS=0 from 0 to 1 and then just save it.
When its activated you get alot more default apps to play with. For example a photomode app, seat position app, downforce app, suspension app, and a few more.
It's a program called MSI Afterburner, which can be downloaded from here - http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/images/download-bt1.gif (http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/images/download-bt1.gif)
MSI Afterburner is 100% free!
Once installed, there's a few settings that need to be tweaked if you want to capture in HD.
Click on "Settings"
Then click on the Video Capture tab.
The settings that I use and/or need to be changed are circled in yellow.
Some of the settings are user preference, but I'd recommend these and here's why....
1. The difference when watching youtube vids in 720 vs. 1080 is negligible in my opinion. Recording in 1080 would increase the size of the capture considerably. It'll also make your hardware work harder and possibly cause stuttering if it can't keep up. Not worth it. It'll also take a long time to upload due to the huge file size. I highly recommend sticking with 720P.
2. Youtube videos are only capable of playing at 30 FPS, so recording at anything higher is kind of a waste of time/resources.
3. Going higher than 85% quality will also cause the same concerns as seen in point #1. Possible stuttering, huge file size, etc.
The other settings (gamma, decoder) I'm not 100% sure what they are/do. I found a tutorial online and they recommend those settings.
Set the hotkey to whatever you want.
I recommend using a destination folder on a separate drive if you have one. It'll help performance as well.
A lot of skins can be found here - http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?forums/car-models-and-skins-modding.24/ (http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?forums/car-models-and-skins-modding.24/)
Once downloaded, copy the skin folder and navigate to "Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\cars", find the car folder you need to add the skin to, open it, then open that cars "Skins" folder. Then paste the skin folder in there.
Most skins you find will likely be in zip or rar format. If zip, just unzip the file into the correct skin folder. If rar, you'll need a program called winrar. Find it here - http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm (http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm) When going through the winrar setup, make sure to uncheck "ZIP" on the "Use this program to open these file types" screen. If you don't, winrar will become your default zip extractor which you don't want.
(Warning: this will cause your FPS to take a minor hit):
If you're on Windows 7 and have a card that supports dx11, go to this page on the official forum and follow the directions.
http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/sweetfx-sharper-ac-for-win-7-dx11-full-program-preset.6104/ (http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/sweetfx-sharper-ac-for-win-7-dx11-full-program-preset.6104/)
SweetFX is a tool used to mess around with how your games look. This particular file doesn't do much except sharpen the image.
I'm probably one of few that doesn't use cockpit view, but in case I'm not, I found a way to get cockpit sounds on either bumper or hood cam.
Make sure you're in cockpit view:
- press the "Home" key on your keyboard, which will enable a Dev menu
- write "set driverEye.z n" (without the quotes. where n is a numeric value, i.e. 1. Pay attention, case sensitive!)
- press Enter
- press Home key again to exit Dev menu
That's it!
I've found 1.5 to be a decent value to enter for bumper cam. This was only tested on one car though. Other cars may need a different value.
Basically what's happening is it's moving the view forward. So for hood cam, the value would need to be less or else you'd end up in bumper. If you put in a negative number, you'd be in the back seat.
You'll need to do this every time. It doesn't save.
- Navigate to the drive where your Steam install is.
- Drill down to the following folder....
- Program Files(x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\assettocorsa*\content\tracks
- Once you've reached the tracks folder, you should see the tracks that come with the game. If you see those, you're in the right place.
- Minimize this window if necessary and go open the zip file for the track you want to install.
- Copy the folder contained in the zip. Paste it into the tracks folder.
That's it!
Side note: this is the exact same way you install skins, apps, cars, everything. I can write up specific tutorials for those things, but it should be fairly easy to figure out once you got the tracks installation down pat.
*I recommend putting a shortcut to this folder somewhere easily accessible. I have mine on my desktop. This way you won't have to drill down like that every time you want to install a track.
App info coming soon.
The track is Magione...

Tech preview is now out if you have netkar pro or want to buy it for 5euro.
Finally cracked into the 25's with a 25.8.

Took me a few laps to figure out that I had to blip the throttle on downshifting.
Took me a few laps to figure out that I had to blip the throttle on downshifting.
There's an autoblip setting in the menus somewhere... I can't remember where right now.
Also, so far my only complaint is in the FFB department. I feel a lot of "force" but not much "feedback", if you know what I mean. I may also not have my wheel setup properly yet though. Still, it feels pretty darn good and I'm enjoying it overall.
If I get into the 23's I'll be happy.
Sounds like the tech demo has the same problem pCARS had a while back. Better tick/frame rate = better lap times. Lower tick/frame rate = possible stuttering = loss of time.
I think this is the same type of issue that GT5 suffered from when there was that timing bug with more than 12 people in a room.
I'm about 2s off that pace.
AC: <snip> Just feels really good.
rFactor2: this just clicks for me.
NetKar pro: just did a few laps in this but wow. It was really good.

Dear followers, finally the AC release is very close.
The Assetto Corsa's official site, www.assettocorsa.net (http://www.assettocorsa.net) is under maintenance: when it will come back online, all the information about the game, its contents and features, the hardware requirements and much more, will be finally available.
More importantly, the release of Assetto Corsa is imminent. Because of some issues (you can read about that here:
https://www.facebook.com/Assetto.Corsa/posts/726358147390506 (https://www.facebook.com/Assetto.Corsa/posts/726358147390506)), we have had to change some assets of our strategy, finding the solution that will make you happy and will let the development team complete its job as soon as possible, and at its best.
Assetto Corsa will be available on Steam Early Access very, very soon. The game will cost 34,99 Eur (allowing to save 22% of the retail price!) and will give you access to the beta version, including its updates, plus the final version.
The latest news is that we have decided to include the Spa-Francorchamps track and three additional GT cars (Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Mercedes-Benz SLS GT3 and Lotus Evora GTC) in the main build of the game, to offer to you the best selection of cars and tracks that we are able to deliver, without any additional cost. We hope you appreciate it. Thanks to this addition, Assetto Corsa will include in total 35 cars, 16 vehicle classes, 11 circuits and 3 additional scenarios. Other extra contents will be added in 2014, in order to guarantee a long-life to this simulation.
The first build of Assetto Corsa includes the main structure of the game and 8 classes of cars for a total number of 11 vehicles, with the aim to guarantee just from the beginning the chance to enjoy the dynamic model of the game racing with different kind of vehicles.
As part of the early access program, an update with new cars, tracks and features will be available every two weeks, adding new contents and improving the existing ones. All the vehicles and tracks will be released in a level of completion close to the final one, with the aim to deliver, starting by the first version, an enjoyable and satisfying simulation, featuring cars and tracks reproduced at their best, with the exception of unknown minor bugs that will be fixed and polished in time for Assetto Corsa 1.0.
During the whole process, the AI, Multiplayer and damage model features will be progressively added in the scheduled time, in order to close in short time the final release, that will include the career mode and other exclusive contents.
Gentlemen, start your modems!

Hey Doc have you had a chance to check these out yet?
If so, can you give me a short description of what they are? I'm mainly curious if they're time trials and if so, are there leaderboards?
Thanks.

No. Paid $40
Are you happy with the way the game feels with your CSR?
Apparently, there is going to be a big announcement on Dec 24.
Apparently, there is going to be a big announcement on Dec 24.
My guess.... Green Hell
That would be cool although I heard that negotiating rights to the track is almost impossible with it's current state of ownership.
I've heard thoughts that it could be multiplayer or an F1 deal with Ferrari. The Ferrari deal was from a more reliable source.
That would be cool although I heard that negotiating rights to the track is almost impossible with it's current state of ownership.
Yeah I forgot about that. I've read that as well. Though I wonder if they could/would release it in a similar fashion to what pCARS is doing right now. Call it EifelHell or something. It would sell a lot of copies of the game, that's for sure.
What a shitty announcement....
It's just a LASER SCANNED FUCKING GREEN HELL!!!
I find this game difficult to be fast at.

I find the difficulty of getting medals to vary by a wide margin.
At Imola, I can't even get bronze.
At Magione, I got gold on lap 2.

Doc,
does the game recognize the directional stick on your wheel?
I guess I can't complain about a free car. A free car that's not available in any other game (at least not that I know of).
That said, meh.
Looks like someone figured out how to access telemetry using software I've never heard of before. Not Motec, but looks fairly similar.
Thread is here - http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/data-analysis-with-aim-analysis.2254/ (http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/data-analysis-with-aim-analysis.2254/)

I'm going to hopefully try this out today. I'll let you know how it is.
As you've probably have guessed by now, tomorrow update of Assetto Corsa will include the first taste of AI. In order to contain the hype and lower expectations, let's focus on the word "taste".
For this first AI update, we won't give you the complete grid AI enabled. There will only be some special events quick races, with some cars on some tracks that will give you a taste as I said of Ai races.
I know that everybody wants the full monty, but I'm also sure that you understand that we need to test the performance of the AI on various systems, check for bugs, improve it and so on. It is far easier for us to do so on some specific scenarios, than having to control the whole Assetto Corsa grid at once.
We're pretty satisfied with how AI is coming along, but we also want to make it better and that's exactly what we're going to do once the update is out. We will collect your impressions and reports and work our asses for the next update to make them even better and offer you as soon as possible the whole AI functionality. I'm pretty confident you're going to like what you will experience tomorrow and I'm sure you will be hungry for more. Tiny bit of patience and we will deliver, you know already that we are listening and working constantly on this.
As a side note, of course you're going to get a couple of new cars and some new upgrades too, plus a complete rework of our tyre model (yikes!)... it's subtle, nothing too drastic, but we think you'll like it even more.
Ok back to work to put the final touches on tomorrows update, thanks for listening

Lock Onboard Camera to Horizon
Changes the way your view reacts to bumps on the track. When checked, your viewpoint will stay fixed but the car will bounce.
When unchecked the car stays fixed but your viewpoint will bounce. Ideally you’d probably want some combination of the two. We slightly prefer the immersion from leaving this unchecked, but some of the movements can be a bit harsh.
Some people have reported that turning this off can help with blurriness.
Ex,
I can better answer some of your question later, but for now, give this article a good read - http://simhqmotorsports.com/assetto-corsa-hints-tips-part-1/ (http://simhqmotorsports.com/assetto-corsa-hints-tips-part-1/)
Assetto Corsa - Development Update 0.7.5
Hello from the Assetto Corsa development team.
Assetto Corsa Early Access v.0.7.5 has been released today. This version includes the new Pagani Huayra Model Year 2013: this awesome hypercar has been modeled and reproduced in cooperation with the R&D department at Pagani Automobili, that also provided the algorithms needed to feature the active aero system performed by the Huayra: seven aerodynamic devices simulate drag and downforce, four of them are movable, controlled by sixteen telemetry channels.
All of this, plus the precise suspension kinematics taken from official Pagani IGES data, the engine twin turbo simulation and the advanced tyre model, makes for an exciting driving
experience, second only to the real counterpart.
This new version of Assetto Corsa includes minor improvements and optimizations to the UI functionalities, AI driving lines and performances, as well as some workaround for AI collisions
that guarantee a better race experience while our development team continue to work on bigger and complex tasks with the aim to reach the 1.0 version of the game soon enough.
This week our development team had the pleasure to meet Aaron Davies, Head of Developer Relations at Oculus VR, working closely with him and his staff at our R&D office to improve compatibility and performance of Assetto Corsa with the Oculus Rift technology, in order to provide the best support to Oculus VR for future updates.
Changelog Early Access 0.7.5
- Pagani Huayra new car (turbo related sounds still wip)
- TC now does not engadge until a car specific speed when launching from stand still
- Aero fixes for Lotus Exos T125, corrects nose up excessive top speed
- Option for player selective collisions. A small workaround until we properly fix the AI.
Collisions only occur around a small distance from the player. All other cars do not collide,
limiting CPU occupation
- Fixed replay audio bug
- Fixed GUI on some apps
- Fixed race output
- New APP :: Track Description
- New APP :: Real Time X360 car controls debug
- Damage OFF option
- Fixed some glitches in mirror rendering
- Improved CPU performance on Monza
- Reduced launcher RAM and VRAM consumption while the simulator is active.
- Added French translation.
- Collision fixes at Monza and Silverstone gp
- Physical mesh at Silverstone gp more detailed.
- Fixed Concrete size at S-Schumacher, Nurburgring GP
- The launcher now keeps a rotating backup store of the local database (found in
Documents\Assetto Corsa\launcherdata\backups)
Why when I start a race is there no good indication of when to shift into 1st and hit the gas? I see the lights -- I get that, but after the lights are all lit up, it seems like it's making me guess when the race will actually start? I always start many car lengths back because of this.
it seems to be a random, undetermined amount of time before the lights start to turn red, (there are only several reds, no yellows or greens) and then a random amount of time after before the cars start. I just have to keep hitting upshift until the actual time comes. Hopefully they come up with something a little more intuitive
on the clutch... I have a DFGT so no clutch, but there is an "auto-clutch" setting. I see that some cars get mad if you don't let of the gas though, and some shift smooth no matter what.
Is this supposed to be modeling a difference between the cars?
Elise: if you hold gas and shift up, it screams at you for a second, then shifts.
z4: same action results in ultra smooth fast shift.
BTW: I'm getting this game set up enough to really start enjoying it :D
If a sale comes up for this again, I'd like to buy in.

We need to do a quick round of Steam friend requests.....
My Steam ID - TunaWiz
Is TunaWizard you as well?
I can see me running this most of the time when there's no Tuna events going on.
A five-second declaration will be made via radio by the Race Director prior to the start of the light sequence. The starting sequence will begin when the first two rows of red lights on the lighting panel illuminate. The red lights will continue to fill from the bottom of the light panel two rows at a time, for a total of six steps (12 rows). Once the panel is filled with red lights, there will be a delay between .5 and 3 seconds and the panel will switch to all green lights (or lights off) and the race will begin.
As far as I'm concerned, it's accurate to most real life standing start procedures that I've seen.

Except not being able to put the car in gear until the lights go out. That's kind of annoying.
Did you notice that GSC will let you do the formation lap? That's kind of cool.

Kunos Simulazioni is pleased to announce a new Licensing Agreement for Assetto Corsa with the NISSAN Brand!
In a recent poll we asked to gamers which car Brands they would like to get in Assetto Corsa: a special place in the collective imaginary is occupied by Nissan, also thanks to NISMO®, the
official in-house racing arm of Nissan. The vehicles it creates have one goal in mind: that every time you see a NISMO® badge, you’ll know it’s something extraordinary. The flagship of GTR. That's why we are so proud to announce the addition of the Nissan GT-R Nismo 2014 and Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 for Assetto Corsa: the Nissan GT-R Nismo 2014 will be included in future as upgrade of the game, while the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3 will perfectly match the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit, scheduled to be completed and released for Assetto Corsa on September 2014.
We are pretty confident that this new agreement with NISSAN will satisfy both the street car enthusiasts, and the simracing drivers who, with this addition, will get an amazing line-up for
their GTR races in Assetto Corsa!

Has anyone tried out the race weekend? If so, how is it?
I just tried race weekend. It's ok. Nothing spectacular, but not bad for a first effort. I'm sure it will improve over time.
You can set practice length, Q length, and lap count. As far as I could tell though, that's about it. You can also set the AI field pretty much however you want. Up to 23 AI on Mugello, didn't try anywhere else yet.
I run a quick 5 min Q followed by a 5 lap race. I enjoyed it.
I'll save everyone some confusion.... after each session has ended (practice, Q) a flag appears in the top left corner of your screen. To advance to the next session, click on this flag. I stared at my screen for a good 5 minutes wondering what the hell I was supposed to do after the Q session until I finally realized I needed to click that flag.
Thanks, how is the AI these days?

A lot better than what it was based on my short test today.
The start of the race was much better in particular. No huge pile up at turn 1 like there was before.
Still a long way to go, but I think it's at least an enjoyable experience now.

we're supposed to get the Nordschliefe for this game upon release, correct?
First of all, thank you for your patience and your kind support about the delay occured with the last release of Assetto Corsa 0.9.
The unexpected issue (a random black screen occured when playing single-player races) that caused the delay of the release on May 2nd, has been finally recognized and fixed.
Meanwhile, the guys involved with the multiplayer mode took advantage of this delay to improve the netcode and the communication with the servers, focusing on the core networking systems and stripping it from most of its advanced features.
Multiplayer mode is such a feature that needs massive tests that can't be brought to completion only by a private betatesting team. Now that the basic functions have been completed and are available for public testing, we are confident that our devteam will be able to monitor the online activities with the aim to fix unforeseen bugs and improve the online experience, as well adding all the big and small features that will make AC multiplayer a great online experience. Starting from the basics and improving step by step is part of the Early Access program.
For your consideration, please note that the multiplayer feature that will be released is still in ALPHA phase: using the support forum to report any issue you might encounter will help our devteam to improve the netcode and its related features.
Here's following the list of features and known issues:
Working Features:
- Booking system
- Pre-booked clients from server admins
- Password protected server for booking
- Password saving for different servers
- Multi class races
- Race weekend (practice, qualifying, race) with configurable duration and number of laps
- Select penalty system or not.
- Track cycling
- Loop mode
- Maximum client limit, determined by circuit pit boxes
- Clients may re-join at any session if booked.
- Dedicated server available.
- 10 public official servers
Known Issues - Please check and report unknown issues at our official support forums http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum (http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum)
- Official server are set to 15 clients and we will gradually increase the clients number with testing. Dedicated server is not limited.
- Wheels remain always connected on the ground, even if cars flies, jumps of flips
- Steering wheels angles might be exaggerated, or inverted
- Extended characters in player names, are not supported yet
- Graphical active aero animations do not work on multiplayer clients yet
- Opponents skidmarks are not visible yet
- Opponents windshield are not visible in player’s mirrors yet
- Opponents suspension movements are vertical, wheels might compenetrate cars body on some occasions
- "Multiplayer options” option from the menu does not work yet (containing voting for skip session, restart servers, kick users, chats etc)
- Switching between sessions dirt on the car doesn’t disappear
- Race session ends some seconds after the leader finishes the race
Ok I have a server set up and running. I can connect to it, but I need someone else to help me test, to see if others can connect to it.
Will anyone be around Saturday evening to help me test? I should be available between the hours of 6 and 10 eastern. I probably (hopefully) wouldn't need more than 5 to 10 minutes of your time.
I have a teamspeak server setup so we can chat our way through it. Should make things go a lot smoother.
If you can help, please make sure you have the latest (3.0.14) teamspeak 3 client installed. I'll walk you through how to connect to that here on the forum when ready.
Thanks.
It seems to work fine.
Possibly Brindle too. Been looking at this game for a while now and will most likely take the plunge.
I really need to win the lottery. :P

The best place to find the good mods will be right here. Soon.
I'm working on an idea that will allow us to have a central place for all mod content. It will include a comment system, a rating system, etc.
It should also work as a direct download system. And by that I mean no mediafire, zippyshare, 4share type bullshit. You click on the link, your save dialog pops up. Simple and easy and worry free.
I hope to have it up and running sometime this weekend.
You da Man Wiz.
I'm really looking forward to Trento Bondone coming to AC. Any word on how close that is to being released?
^ Awesome.
There's a dude over at the official forums with this setup. He's calling it SuperFOV.
It's downright awesome.

The issue with it though is that the scene needs to be rendered to compensate for the curved screen or things will be distorted. How does he get around that?

I seem to remember seeing a similar setup to that that was being sold by one of a simulation equipment specialist website, but it was more of a canopy rather than a curved screen like this one. I forget the website but I think it was one posted on the Tuna forum somewhere, the company did a lot of high end specialised equipment for sims like F1 style wheels, aeroplane yokes / pedals and other stuff.
If I remember or find it I'll post the link here :).

Home for a pit stop in between work. Noticed this I think you are looking for a Frex Canopy.
Green Hell mod has been updated to 0.6.1 in the download area.
I recommend deleting the old versions folder first (in your tracks folder) before copy/pasting the new one in.

Thanks. That's expensive software but it's also a very hard thing to do. I couldn't see how it actually works with a quick visit so I'm not sure if it is just approximating proper warping or if it can get the video card to render the scene properly. If it works it makes for a really cool setup although I think the rift will be better and at a much cheaper price.
Finally, after many, many tries... I got bronze on that Z4 at Imola Special Evnet.

somethings wrong there.
Added a nice tuning tutorial to the 2nd post of this thread.
ooh, I forgot I had a question after doing some AC'ing last night
I have cars giving too much steering input into the game when I have it set to 900deg for some reason.
What setting/value would help make my DFGT result in a 1:1 real/virtual wheel movement?
With the logitech profiler, thingy? I haven't been turning that on. I wonder if this game really requires it? That could be my problem right there...
I thought the profiler was necessary for Logitec on PC?
Thanks I will read it.
Regarding the profiler... I am an app nazi, who doesn't let things I'm not using continue to run in the background even with a new more powerful PC. So, I have a little shortcut for the profiler next to my game icons... Need to remember to open it when I'm about to launch the game.
MoTeC plugin. Finally.

Haven't tried it yet. I'll give it a go over the weekend hopefully. From what I understand it's somewhat limited due to Kunos not having all the data channels available yet.

You're faster than you give yourself credit for. I still remember trying to catch you way back when in the first GT300 series at Nordschleife. Hell of a race/series that was.
I'm not positive but I think I still have the replay for that race on my old fatty. I really should take the time to see if it's there, record it, and put it up on youtube.

Is that AI driving most of the cars and do you know if track creators need to define things in the track for the AI or whether they just sort of know what to do on these new tracks?
Hello AC followers,
gradually we are getting closer to the release candidate version of Assetto Corsa: the next update should already include some changes to the graphics engine that will allow us to test the overall compatibility, although you might not see any new effects until the new algorithms will prove to be stable. More details will follow soon.
The next update of Assetto Corsa Early Access is scheduled for 18th July and it should include the long awaited Lotus 98T. As already known, Assetto Corsa AI, utilizes the same physics model used by the player. With more than 1000 horse power and tons of downforce produced by this amazing grand prix car, the AI finds it very challenging keeping a proper racing line. The reasons will be clear to you too, when you will try staying on track while driving this unbelievably fast and “raw” racing car. We are working to improve AI interactions and hopefully we'll be able to include the Lotus 98T in next update and include AI enhancements to the sim.
A big "thank you" to all those people who join the Early Access program every day. You help us to constantly improve Assetto Corsa : Your support is amazing and we really want to thank you, so we are investing in new content, new licenses and even more importantly, new people, hiring developers able to cover strategic positions in our company that will allow us KUNOS Simulazioni and Assetto Corsa, grow stronger and more efficient and capable.
I'm really digging this Porsche. I need to get my ass in gear and get it posted in the downloads area.
Here's me taking it for a spin on one of my favorite fantasy tracks I've ever driven... Blackwood!
So again, why haven't you downloaded LFS?
Is this done by the same people who did the rF2 version? The curbing on the first couple of corners is still wrong. Too flat.
Oh and plus I just bought Richard Burns Rally. I've heard so many good things about it over the years that I finally had to break down and buy it. Found it for $7 on Amazon.I didn't know you even liked rally. Brindle and I used to play a shit load of dirt 2
It will probably burn most of my non AC free time for a while.
So again, why haven't you downloaded LFS?
I probably still will at some point down the road. If I bought it now though, I think it'd be a waste of $40. I'd probably play it for a day or two and then go straight back to AC. I can't get enough of AC right now. It's pretty much the only game I load up anymore.
edit: here is the link to the LFS download page so you don't have any excuses: http://www.lfs.net/?page=downloads (http://www.lfs.net/?page=downloads)
I didn't know you even liked rally. Brindle and I used to play a shit load of dirt 2
Are there any plans for different HUD's while driving, or do I have to mod it myself?
Oh and check the first post of this thread, you may find some useful shit there as well. :)It's good to know your wife is coming home, take things easy though, look after her first.
I wish I had more time to upload shit right now (I have a boatload more tracks, a few cars and a bunch of apps), but life is still pretty crazy.
Wife should be out of the hospital today or tomorrow so things will settle down soon and I can get back to business.
so am going to continue modding the looks to fit my taste.
Anyone know if I can use my pc monitor with my ps3 via dvi-hdmi connector?
Anyone know if I can use my pc monitor with my ps3 via dvi-hdmi connector?
Shouldn't be an issue. My old HDTV is dvi only. Worked fine with an adaptor.
Are those apps able to run on your tablet using shared memory whatever? Or is it those ones you click open on the side tool bar? I hate any clutter on my screen while driving.
Also have you read anything about when they will implement button mapping?
Also have you read anything about when they will implement button mapping?
Button mapping is already somewhat implemented.
The only thing that isn't mappable yet for some reason is directional pads.
I can map all of the other buttons on my wheel (and there are 10 of them) and I can also map to my DSD button box.
Do I have to authenticate through Steam on the PC I play on?

Dear AC followers,
we are glad to introduce you to the0.21 release of Assetto Corsa on Steam Early Access. This version introduces some heavy upgrades and new features that represent a step ahead going to the 1.0 release.
New content: Classic Team Lotus Type 98T
Finally this awesome car is available in the Assetto Corsa's garage: the legendary single seater with which Ayrton Senna has wrote some of the most beatiful pages in the motorsport history is waiting for you: equipped with a small 1.5litres engine that represents the peak of the legendary turbo era, producing over 800bhp at race boost of around 3.5bar and more than 1200bhp at qualifying trim and over 5bar turbo boost! The downforce generated by the big wings and massive diffuser is even more than what modern F1 cars are capable of. Nevertheless, the extreme pitch sensitivity, stalling issues of the diffuser and unbelievably exponential power delivery of the twin turbo's, will challenge your skills not only to try and go fast with this car, but to actually keep it on track! Just a single lap will make you understand why there was just one man on the planet, capable of driving this monster close to its limits and on to pole position!
New Multiplayer
We have worked very hard to improve the multiplayer routines: we have recognized that some of the limits of the previous netcode didn't allow gamers to get the maximum satisfaction, in particular when some gamers was performing high ping values. We are glad to announce that the netcode of the new version doesn't represent an improvement of the previous one, but it has been rewrote from scratch. The results of our private betatesting gave us an excellent feedback, and we are confident you will get a very improved multiplayer experience. Please notice that this new version, Assetto Corsa requires increased server bandwidth. Professional dedicated servers shouldn't have any problems at all, but users that wish to host session on their local home connection, should start with a very low client number and slowly raise the number until they find the limits of their connection.
The following bandwidth requirements are a conservative guideline, your results may vary:
Clients = Kilobytes /sec upstream
5 = 23KB/s
8 = 66KB/s
10 = 106KB/s
15 = 247KB/s
20 = 448KB/s25 = 708KB/s
30 = 1026KB/s
New Multiplayer features
New multiplayer mode without booking request. The number of servers and users wishing to easily join pickup servers has caught us by surprise. We never immagined such a big success of casual multiplayer sessions with Assetto Corsa. As such, it was evident that the actual booking system, specifically thought for leagues and organized racing, was not doing a good job. We’re introducing a new “pickup” multiplayer mode without booking sessions.
The new “pickup” system, permits a server to be configured without booking sessions. An entry list must be configured properly, with only the cars that will be present in the server.
Clients can filter from the UI and search just for non booking servers. Then simply select a car and join the server at whatever session (practice, qualifying or race), at any time as many times as they wish.
At the current state the “pickup” system does not permit a specific skin selection from the client and we’re pretty sure that needs more testing in order to iron out possible bugs. Please help us by pointing out bugs at our official support forums. We are looking to have multiple hotfixes during the following week, in order to deliver a stable version for August vacations.
AI
Working on the Lotus Type 98T, we have had also the chance to analyze some issues related to the stability of some of the most performing cars that feature a active aero system: the Lotus Type 98T produces very high drag and downforce values, that change costantly and dynamically with pitch, speed and throttle position. All of that, together with the incredible power and speed that this car is capable of, resulted in multiple critical situations for our AI. The new AI improvements, not only manages to mantain the Lotus 98T on track, but also improve the AI behaviour of the other cars. More improvements are on the way, following optimizations of the new code.
Graphics engine
As anticipated some weeks ago, this build performs some new graphics libraries: you will notice some improved post-processing effects, including DOF (depth of field), bloom, tone mapping, FXAA and more. There are some additional features included in the graphics option menu that will allow users to choose different scenarios. This version does not include most of the effects that will be included in future and that will represent a huge step ahead: before to introduce other features, we want to be sure about stability and performance of this upgrade.
Next updates
As always, we'll monitor all the forum activities in order to find and resolve eventual issues and bugsthat might show up, due to the numerous new features included in this update. We will provide if needed, multiple hotfixes and feature updates in the following days. The next main build is expected to be released on Friday, 29th of August
General news
The implementation of FMOD is going well: as soon as we will be able to provide a comparison video between the current version and the new build featuring FMOD, we'll show you the benefits of this upgrade: this step represents a huge challenge, because it requires a total conversion of old samples and the creation of new ones. Also, new effects will be included in order to create an immersive sound environment that can guarantee an immersive experience. We believe that the final result is well worth the investment requested.
The modeling of Spa-Francorchamps has been almost completed: as you might know, this track will be included in the 1.0 version of Assetto Corsa (and this might suggest you that 1.0 version isn't too far). During this summer we will release some videos and pictures that will give you an idea of what to expect from this awesome and legendary circuit.
Considering the time involved to schedule and manage the production of new contents, we are working in advance to provide you tons of new contents even after 1.0 release, with new car brands licensed and models to be unveiled soon. We recognize that trying to stay focused on the development of the main build and on some new activities, we haven't shared enough work in progress pics and videos for a while: don't worry, we'll surprise you again. Stay tuned on www.facebook.com/Assetto.corsa (http://www.facebook.com/Assetto.corsa) to discover all the incoming news!
The Early Access program has been very successful, exceeding our expectations, and it's about to end. Thanks to this results, KUNOS Simulazioni has welcomed some additional programmers and graphics modellers that are already involved in current and future productions, thanks to their experience matured working on AAA games. We are grateful of the amazing response of the community towards Assetto Corsa and we try our best to give you the best racing game we are able to make. Thank you very much for your incredible support: see you on track!

Is it me, or does the porsche seem to have a ride height issue? Was running it on Blackwood over the weekend and the car would just flip out at about 115+ mph. I turned down the aero and raised the ride height all the way (got really awful real time numbers), but it didn't help much, as I made it up to only 130 before the car started flipping out.
With a stock ride height, I can hear the chassis scraping the ground when leaving the garage at under 25 mph! :o
What Porsche? I don't have no Porsche.
I don't recall having that problem with the Porsche at high speeds, and I've done quite a few laps with it at Blackwood.
But I do have that scraping problem at Blackwood in the pit lane. Same thing happens in the Cobra. I think it's the track.

So they are considering adding? Are there stipulations that have to be agreed upon or something? Would be a very cool addition for sure.

When is the next release supposed to come out?
Will test it tonight when I get home.

Doc,When running an AI race I keep getting a WARNING CPU running at 95% I had 20 AI 5 lap race in the Abarth F1. The race went well and I had a steady 50-60 FPS I ran a second race with only 12 AI And FPS dropped to 25? Im running my 7850 at stock clock settings. I found that setting I was looking for... go to your steam/steamapps/common/assettocorsa/system/cfg folder and open the graphics.ini
Change max frame latency to 1 and save.
Post results.

I know steam gets a bad rap but I really like it. I reinstalled steam after my windows re-install, pointed it to my games folder, and all my games were installed (including AC).
Coxis and I had a really great race at Mid-Ohio. We qualified 1 & 2 and stayed together pretty much the entire race, never any more than 2 seconds apart, and usually much closer than that. Was good fun. He's pretty quick.
I'm having a hard time keeping all the mods up to date in my Mediafire AC folder. My goal was to make sure they were all in zip format, and organized by quality.Im at work. How would I access them at home?
Too much work. Sorry.
So here are the links to my other AC folders, which are more up to date, but highly unorganized.

HEY REK, BOOKMARK THESE LINKS!!!!

The C6R is a very nice car.
someone else pick it for the following Friday.
Guess I'm ok? No idea what ripped content is:)someone else pick it for the following Friday.
Before I forget, I need to mention that I will not run ripped content on the server for this Friday night thing.
Unfortunately, this will exclude quite a few cars and tracks.
Guess I'm ok? No idea what ripped content is:)
not sure the Version? I download it Friday.
The Transfagarasan mod is pretty sweet. Still needs some texture work as you can see, but it's coming along nicely.

FUCK I want to drive that!
Anyone else want to pick a combo for this week?
If so, do it soon please.

Snoop's Green Hell.
Yeah cool. What cars?
I'll take your combo idea and save it for another week.
regarding this friday, I'm hoping I can figure out how to educate myself on how to connect with you guys before then and try out the online with this game. Whatever combo you want to use, I'll try to download it if that is required.

Z4 GT3

It's really easy.
Once we get the combo picked out, I'll send you a PM with all the info you'll need.
Is that the official Nurburgring then?
Since nobody else chimed in with a combo pick for this Friday, we're going to go with the Ford Escort MK2 at Salzburgring.
So you just didn't take me seriously, I'm hurt. :'(
My second choice would be some sort of open wheeler at Imola.
So you just didn't take me seriously, I'm hurt. :'(
You're not wrong.
The laughing smilies threw me off maybe. I figured it was a funny jab at me for (still) not installing the LFS demo yet. (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif) My bad.
Formula Abarth?
I'm game for Blackwood anytime. Such a great track! My second choice would be some sort of open wheeler at Imola.
Sounds good. How about the GP2 mod? It's a decent mod, if you haven't checked it out yet.
Figured it was a given. sounds great. What cars?
Z4 GT3
12C GT3
How about both?
Sorry, I didn't make it last night. I just had to try out the rift. On the plus side, I think that I've worked out my usb issues. I just don't have a single thing plugged into the USB ports hooked up to the via chips. Apparently a lot of people with my motherboard and Gigabyte boards in general have problems with the USB. Too bad, my first pc (a 486SX) had a gigabyte motherboard with it's own proprietary vesa local bus video card(before pci). It was great.
Is the drag racing set up to be used online yet. That could be fun.
The HistorX guys are considering adding all their stuff to AC.
Have you heard anything else on this?
Is the drag racing set up to be used online yet. That could be fun.
I don't think it's working yet.
Have they fixed it offline. It used to be that you didn't wait for the lights to change, you waited for the car beside you to rev its engine. If you waited until the lights turned, you'd end up with close to a second reaction time. I know I'm old but I'm not that old.

Not sure. I tried it once or twice when I first started playing the game and haven't gone back to it since.
I do hope it gets fixed. I'm not a huge drag racing fan, but it'd be fun for a change of pace one night.
AC has a random interval between the last lights and start where in real life it is apparently a set time so you can anticipate when to go.

personally I think that's dumb... the whole point of having a "tree" at all is so you can see that the green is coming at a certain expected time. Otherwise, why not just have a green light that comes on at random, with no yellows? It makes no sense for drag, where you want to see how fast a car can get to the 1/4 mile line, not test someone's reaction time (though I know at certain levels of the sport, that is part of the competition)

They didn't change the interval between the yellows, and green. They changed it between the staging lights, and the yellows. Big difference, and does not affect what the tree has been doing all along.
Not that many years ago, there was a guy that always initiated the tree, sounds like they're getting back to that kind of feel.
Also, I'm a huge NHRA/drag racing in general fan. Been to more events than I can count, and even drag raced my on car for a while in my 20's.
But my understanding is it makes the lighting have some variances not allowing the driver to merely make a calculated guess at a start but rather having to react to the lights themselves.
Essentially this new feature allows the computer to work the tree in much the same fashion as the tough-as-nails but fair legendary chief starter Buster Couch did in the early years of NHRA drag racing.
If you’ve ever heard tales of Buster dealing with game-playing drivers, and they seem unbelievable, don’t discount them.
For more than 30 years, Buster Couch stood between the lanes at national events as the NHRA's chief starter. Tough but fair, Couch had his finger on the button of the Christmas tree some half a million times, a finger whose movements every driver tried to anticipate in an attempt to nail the holeshot. If you look at almost any photo of a national starting line between 1963 and 1995, there is a good chance Couch's imposing, linebacker-sized frame is in the picture.

Did you read the article? The drivers wanted the change. I think i am with the pro drivers on this one. I want the driver to play as much of a role as possible. If not there is less of a contest going on.
if it is just a speed test that must be where we are not seeing eye to eye, as I am thinking of this in terms of racing, I want a contest between the driversexactly. when a pro races a pro, he wants to beat the driver, not just the car.

when a local takes their car to the strip to see how fast it is, he/she is going to want to have a way to know when to drop the clutch.
Aaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnndddddddddd GO!

Ex, I don't think you understand what they're doing with the tree. They are not changing the yellow to green sequence, just the initial start of the yellows. It has no effect on the "countdown" that they have been using for years.
Well I am kinda waiting til I get a tower.
There's a few of us on right now. Hop on!What a fucking great combo. green hell with the 49 Lotus :o Sorry my hand gave out guys. Was super fun while it lasted. I actually lasted longer than I thought I could. Thanks for hosting again Wiz :)
nice Wiz looked like fun. Just curious.... your guy was pretty busy with the wheel, did you have to make those big wheel movements?
After I shut down last night I hopped on the forum only to find out DrDoom released his newest version. Had to fire the game back up to try it out.
I didn't think the Cobra would be a great car here but decided to try it anyway. Turned out to be my favorite car I've tried here so far.
If you have a spare 15 minutes, here's my first run with this combo. Make sure to turn on the HD.
Cobra @ Transfagarasan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2tYTdz93e0#ws)
Seriously, this combo alone is worth $20. Had a smile on my face the entire run. :)
is that track one you have in your downloads page? I didn't see it.
question. some of the cars I downloaded didn't work at all. The Lancer Evo and one other would not even go off the line. they would launch into air when pressing throttle... are those ones just 3D models with no driving physics yet?

tried this in the x-bow, and it was amazing. This is one of those best road................................ in the world, loca tions from Top Gear. The one from Romania as Irecall. I wonder if anyone will do the one they featured in one of the middle-eastern countries. Looked similar to this but with no trees.
anyway, I agree with Wiz's statement above that this is worth the money of the game, just this one drive. It's a LOT longer than you think.!
He needs to work on the boundaries a bit, or have it reset you (does AC do that ?)
why the hell am I still having trouble embedding... wierd.
Hi, anyone knows were to find the AI editor, please?
why the hell am I still having trouble embedding... wierd.
In this instance you copied the short url (youtu.be) which won't work.
Our forum software does not have native youtube support so we had to install a plugin. The plugin isn't great and doesn't pick up on some of the goofy links youtube spits out.
If it doesn't look exactly like this (I left the "s" in so it didn't show the vid) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FA3p7Xdk-78 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FA3p7Xdk-78) expect to have trouble.
When did they release the SLS AMG? I didn't have any updates last night.
thanks... I'll need to figure out how to find the longer URLs... still a you-noob I guess :D

It's not out yet. It will come with Fridays update.
Is that the only Merc they are letting go of so far?
So this thing was just released. It's a fictional car, but it looks pretty cool and I hear it's a blast to drive. Can't wait to try it out.

- The new physics/tire model/FFB in the lastest update are fantastic. Driving the Cobra last night up Transfagarasan was just absolutely amazing.

I forgot to come here and post those exact same thoughts. Because I'm trying out modded/add-on cars, and still haven't driven all of the Kunos cars, I wasn't sure if it was just a new car that I downloaded, or if the update's touting of better physics was what I was noticing. Or lastly, was it a placebo effect? I think it really is the physics, and I agree they are ... amazing!
I think I'd like to check that out. Sounds good for this game where you can of course change your FOV (and POV) which sometimes results in small degrees of visible world around you. Side-to-side movement might be a solution for that. (I am also making a modification to my computer/ps3 desk to let me put my rig 6-8 inches closer, so that will change my FOV settings right there.)

Hey Doc, do you mind if I take over your first post on page 1?
I'd like to use if for another tutorial in the near future. Thanks.
I hope REK doesn't mind.... I did a hostile takeover of the 3rd post in this thread on page 1.
I used it for a TeamSpeak tutorial.

Another stunning car coming soon from contributor Patrik Marek. Turns out this guy works for big movie studios and has done some modelling for big movies like IronMan, Transformers & the new Star Trek flicks. Pretty cool to have him making AC mods. :)

Update came today. I read it's now working as expected. Give it a go Doc. :)
I could not figure out which options settings were controlled by which .ini file, so I copied the entire AC/System folder as a backup. However, I don't think I'll be using it, because when I went in to play, I took the time to truly experiment with every setting the game has to offer and found what I think is a better set of options for me and my wheel than what I had before.
What is the actual release date for those not getting in on early access, and what is FMOD?
I noticed that the 5.1 surround is noticably better than it ever has been. I really wish it had adjustments for each speaker's volume, though. Maybe one of my other apps will give me that ability.
PS... I have an Evo I'm working on. :)
What is the latest on 4wd in this game?
With physics this good, I'm really hoping there will be good dirt tracks and 4wd eventually.
Zakspeed Escort MK2 GR.5 DRM (beta) released
You still doing stuff on Friday nigths, Wiz?
I want to do some online stuff now that I actually sorta know how to drive in this game! :)
I have ran some online and some offline and can say I am impressed and challenged. Running mainly in an e30 M3 and what is basically a lower teired open wheeled race car. Most of my time has been spent at Mid Ohio with some time spent at some other locales most notable of them being Circuit of the Americas. You have to drive properly and well to be successful from what I have seen. But overall I am liking it quite well so far.
Now it's 50% off. $25 for this game is an absolute steal. Go get it!!!
Now it's 50% off. $25 for this game is an absolute steal. Go get it!!!
It's a short sale and only has about 40 hours to go.
I'm looking at you, certain forum member that said he was probably going to buy it when it went on sale again. ;)
Anyone with a decent PC should be able to run this game It works with all wheels and is a fucking blast. I know GT6 is getting stale for a few of you and has been for me for a couple years now. For the guys running anything other than the T500RS you really should look into AC Its a very stable running game and its only been improving. The dream pack that's around the corner even has a laser scanned Green Hell not to mention a shitload of exciting cars. And the game is already full of sweet rides. In the past I seen mention about having to always upgrade your PC but I really haven't seen the necessity to have to do that. Sure a power supply will go bad. and maybe other shit but I have bricked (2) PS 3's so what the hell?
That's good.
You mention wonderful FFB feel and that is what a lot of people are saying.
no hours and hours of firmware updates, driver updates, system optimisations

Hey Ex. My memory sucks, so its up to you to remind me. I got the last lap working offline/online for the app I made you. I will pass it along to you. :)
Looks like there's an update to RHM. He is now using angular velocity as a reference instead of the wheel angle. You can also choose between the 2.

Someone is going to need to tell me where to get this head motion thing the last time I tried it was months ago and could bot get it to work right. Would appreciate the added realism plus the better sight lines for a single screen.
Was that Richard Hammond? (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif):D good reference
The sense of presence you get with the rift just can't be matched with monitors. The camera is fixed to your skull just like your eyes are fixed to your skull. With a poor triple screen setup, you mostly use the center monitor and just check the side monitors to see if other cars are there. With a really good triple screen setup, you mostly look at the center monitor and sometimes sort of look in the side monitors to look into a corner. With the rift you just naturally turn your head like you would in real life. You turn your head to look in the mirror, to look through corners, to shoulder check. It's just a night and day difference. And this is why I am patiently awaiting consumer release. They even have a thing now that you stand in and can walk around while using the rift and the like.

A mighty fine car it is, too!
is it changed since the one we DL'd last friday?
Fixed TCP connection getting dropped for timeout
Hope that is for the longer tracks dropping on me 15 seconds after crossing the start finish line. :adam:

I asked on the official forum if that was the fix, but haven't got an answer yet.
50% off on Steam right now.:stoopid:
$25 for this game is an absolute steal!!!
This is the only game where I have truly enjoyed Nurb. In GT it is ok but in AC I actually enjoy turning laps there.
A first basic support for dynamic objects on tracks has been added as well, and it will be improved in future updates, with the aim to get a more immersive environment.

I updated myself last night and am really impressed! Anyone want to try and meet up this Friday for some messing about?
any thoughts on doing something this week? I heard a rumor that Wizard committed 100% to being there, and I raced with Pete on Saturday, and if stoney memory serves, he promised to absolutely, 110% be there :D
I could be exaggerating that a bit... maybe.
Well, I think we can start by friending up on steam. We have a ts server available and I will likely be running ac server as well. My steam I'd is "brindletuna" and the ac server name will be "SupaTuna", pass stgt1. I don't know the ts server name off hand, so I will get it for you tomorrow.

It's been a while I reckon. Like 7 or 8 months I think since I have been in a virtual car.

You guys want to try something tonight then? I'd say this is officially "after the holidays" :D
got the new setup configured for 120hz on most tracks. Except, that pesky set of rally course mods are not optimized well. I may post something over on their thread about it... IDK. IMO, modders should always optimize their tracks (FPS game maps etc.) to perform very closely to the stock maps and tracks. It is annoying to have to turn down detail just so you can run certain tracks.
pCARS for instance, is notorious for this and doesn't even have their own stock tracks optimized similarly to one another. Azure Circuit (Monoco) is giving me 80-90fps on average, where Silverstone will give me a butter smooth 120 fps.
It basically falls back to what's a priority. I just spent another $200 stash money last week on ammo ;)I read it, no mention about me getting pedals though :-\

You should try it with my card (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif) Azure was one location that was out of the question for me on Pcars. Too many buildings and shadows. Even turned down I could hardly make 30FPS

Brindle or Wiz - I think you both made use of Virtual Super Resolution (in AMD terms) for AC, correct? How did you set that up on your nVidia control panel, exactly?
It looks like it is possible, but more complicated to set up. If I am correct, I need to create a "custom resolution" under the resolutions tab, and then go to desktop resizing and make sure it will let the GPU do the rescaling. Does that sound correct? Missing anything?
Thanks.

120 Hz and 3D-gaming : due to current bandwidth limitations it isn't feasible to downsample down to a 1920x1080 resolution @ 120 Hz.

Any ideas for tonight?
Yeah I know. Brandon did show up for a little bit then left, I got bored and decided to quit for the night.
Sorry.
Trying to get this going on short notice probably wasn't a good idea anyway. Hopefully next week we'll get a decent sized crowd.

Boasting an extensive career mode with support for events in disciplines that include Drag and Drift racing, Kunos’ prized racer will also allow players to take part in full race weekends complete with Practice, Qualifying and Races both offline and online.
We're gonna run the same combo this week! RSR Formula 3 at Brands Hatch.
Be there!

From the GTplanet article about the announcement for PS4. What does that mean, exactly? Will the career component of the PC game get some more content based on what it sounds like they are doing with the consoles? Anyone know?
Thanks

If a guy named Timo Koskela shows up tonight do yourself a favor and watch him during practice/qualifying. He's one of the top aliens out there, always near the top of most leaderboards he puts effort into.

There's still a chance they may work, but with limited functionality. Recommend waiting a few days after release before buying the game.

Hey Ex...
I will be on tonight practicing with E30 @ Riverside if you want to join me. Gotta get a 35 before Wiz does. :P
Been having some free time to run on PC again and am enjoying the driving. With all the track mods available, there are plenty of alternatives to race circuits. I have to say to anyone out there, try Lake Louise again! The last free version I had only contained the 'lake loop' forward and reverse. His current free version now contains 3 sections, 2 with forward and reverse and the last a standalone section.
This version was so entertaining, I decided to donate and get the full 50k version. Well worth the 1 dollar! There are 13 different variations, containing 6 different sections! I highly recommend getting this mod, or at least get the newest free version.
