New Series
« on: February 02, 2012, 02:29:22 PM »

Hi guys,

I have been tinkering with the idea of a setting up a new series with mixed classes. I was looking at the following list of cars.

Can anyone see if any may be a lot better than others with these HP's. Also the weight is stock.

I'm looking for good close racing. Any input would be appreciated as well as any interest.

I'm looking at Wednesday night around 9:30 - 10:00 EST

what I like about this idea is that you are customizing the hp restrictions for each car.  the PP system and merely relying on a car's stock/default hp isn't usually enough to actually make them equal.

out in the wild, I wouldn't trust people to stick to the regs, but here in tuna-ville it shouldn't be a problem.

I would be interested in this, however I currently run the Japanese 90s Sports car event every other Wednesday around 9.

If your race was to start around 10-10:15 I could make both though  ;D

I was thinking either alternating Wednesdays with yours or going with the later time every week. Either way I'm leaning to a later time to help the west coast as well as east coast with kids.

I would like the race to be over by 11 EST though.

I was also hoping that I could recruit a few people to test some cars.

I'm thinking racing hards on maybe nurberger GP/D with the HP's above, stock weight.

If there are any other cars that I don't have which would be competitive please let me know.

Sounds like a great idea LLF!  I'd definitely be interested in running and should be able to do Wednesdays.

I don't mind helping with testing some too, though after my pisspoor performance in the Roadster TC Series race at the Zoidbergring GP/D track I'd personally prefer somewhere else but I can certainly try where ever you want.  So long as I'm at least consistent with testing the cars it shouldn't matter if I'm consistently bad ;D.

Absolutely, that would be a great help.

Maybe just let me know which cars you'd like to try.

DTM
Mercedes CLK 2000..............463HP-----this car might still kick ass due to downforce, definitely needs testing

JGTC
Premium
Honda NSX..................473HP------I hear there is one NSX that kicks ass for an unspecified reason. The Raybrig maybe.

Premium/Standard
Toyota Supra...............473HP ----the premium Supra '97 has exrta downforce but its engine feels weak, so it may even out)

GRAND-AM

Standard
Mazda RX-8 .................483HP -------I can't see this competing, mostly due to downforce
BMW M3......................483HP -------I can't see this competing, due to downforce and engine
Audi R8 LMS (Team Playstation)......483HP ------ I drove this once or twice and parked it. I forget why. I should try it again some day.

Premium
New Camaro RM..................493HP -------I can't see this competing, mostly due to downforce

There are two Dodge Viper race cars that should fit in. Probably Grand Am. It has a lot of power, but so do the two Chevs.
You may have omitted them on purpose, but do these fit anywhere?

I have actually been working on something similar to this just for my own enjoyment. taking premium GT cars, adding full aero kits, and seeing what cars will run together with the power at 600bhp or less and 1360kg or more, i have a decent list going (@ work so its not on me at the moment). i would definitely be interested as long as: a) the racing is over by around 10:30p est, and b) It doesn't conflict with any other series. Even if i can't run the event i am more than happy to be a part of a testing crew!

Wow, thanks Turbo. Just what I needed.

I tested the Merc. CLK, An NSX, Supra and the M3. I think the 1rd 3 would be close but Turbo you're right the M3 was way off. I think I will eliminate that one.

I will try to look at your other suggestions but right now I don't know which ones I have.

This could be fun.

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

The '03 Takata NSX is the one that is a bit better than the other NSX's.

I should be able to help evaluate some of these cars over the weekend (if they're not already all taken care of!).

EDIT for better wording:

for testing, I would recommend everyone use the same agreed upon track, and all test identical cars.  that way, you could post findings and it would be apples to apples comparison.

remember there is always the possibility that one car will be faster in the hands of only one racer in particular, because they understand how to alter their driving style to match it's characteristics, or because it happens to suit their driving style.

if say, the CLK is still much faster for one person, that may be that it will be their car of choice and not necessarily unfair for them to use.  If it is still faster for everyone testing, then limit it further until it is relatively equal for all testers.

To keep things comparable should all testing be down with default settings?

That's what I've been doing. Just getting the HP's to where they are listed and running racing hards.
