Title: Simbin GTR 2
Post by: Wiz on August 22, 2013, 11:21:52 AM
This thread is mainly for GT11.

It appears GTR2 has Rift support...

Oculus Rift - GTR2 Power&Glory Mod - Porsche 911 - Nürburgring (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pv-jaagwr-U#)

Settings thread here - http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=142&t=18521 (http://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=142&t=18521)

If I remember correctly you said you were having some problems getting the Rift working good with the existing games you own.  If you're really itching to have a good experience sim racing with the Rift, this looks like it's working pretty well.  You can find GTR2 on ebay for around $20.

Just thought I'd share.  :)

Additional info that means nothing to me but might make sense to you...

"I used Opentrack's new autocorrecting tracker with TriDef's experimental Rift drivers and there is absolutely zero input lag for me after the tweaks I made to the files."

Thanks Wiz,

Both Half Life 2 and iRacing have native support for the Rift.  Both implementations are pretty good.  iRacing's is so good that Oculus is using iRacing as demo at Gamescon.  The issue with both currently is resolution of the rift.  The resolution is so bad that not only can you see individual pixels but you can see the colour elements in those pixels.  An iRacing car 1 second ahead of you is only 15 pixels wide.

This GTR2 plugin sounds similar to the rF2 plugin.  Both require 3rd party drivers on top of the plugin.  Unfortunately the driver that they require is $49.  It has a 14 day trial so I've tried to get it working in rF2.  I've got it working but the fov isn't very good and performance is awful.  The tridef drivers might also allow me to use my sony 3D monitor as a 3D monitor in windows so I'll give it another go to see if I can get it working better.

I (tried to) play it at the beginning, right when it was released.  I could never get my wheel to work properly so I gave up.  I'm sure they've worked out some bugs since then and I've been meaning to go back and try it again but just haven't got around to it.

sorry to hear it didn't work. i've had no problems with my Fanatec, as a matter of fact; the game auto-detected it. i've been loving the Corvette DProto on Suzuka lately
