Anyone watching?
It's the first time I saw the new C7R. Looks good.

Oh, hello beautiful...

Didn't know Turner picked up a Z4. Love it. :)
-
Wow... Turner's come a long way since those basic 3-Series they used to run in the Speed World Challenge series back in the day. I've got the race on... not sure how long that'll last before the girlfriend tells me "NO MORE"... I guess it is her house after all :-\
-
I watched the start but then I noticed that there wasn't a cloud in the sky so I took the kids out to the park. I started watching again when we came back and my daughter went for a nap. Did anyone see that horrible crash? I hope the drivers are ok.
-
Did anyone see that horrible crash?
Just saw it now on replay. Holy shit that was bad. Did anyone hear if the drivers are ok?
-
Just heard that the drivers are conscious and communicating.
-
Apparently the guy who did the rear-ending, Memo Gidley?, had surgery last night for a broken arm and leg and is going to need surgery for an unstable back fracture. The fact that they did the arm and leg first suggests to me that the back isn't too critical (i.e. no spinal cord compression). I haven't heard anything new about the other guy.
edit: I'm not too sure how accurate the reports are. I found them either on GTPlanet or iRacing threads.

Ye gods! What is it with cable channels?
I always had Speed Channel and it was glorious. Then FOX cannibalized it. And now it's gone. I have Fox Sports 1. Whoopdefuckingdo. The NFL is boring (not that I needed 24/7 NASCAR programming, but it was better).
But then NBC Sports launched their channel. I did not get that channel. For a long time. Luckily I have it now. I like open wheel racing.
Then there was Velocity. I did not have it it first, but luckily it has been added to my package. So I thought I was set on all my automotive programming.
And now I have to wait for FS2. And MAVTV.
Fucking ala carte cable is the last billion dollar business idea. Whoever can pull it off will reap some serious cash.
-
my sister worked in the cable business and explained it to me once:
if you could purchase individual channels, it would cost the consumer a fortune. something less popular can only get in on the coat-tails of something more popular. you get good deals on channels because they are bundled together, essentially. You have to get something you don't watch, so that someone else can get that for less than a PS+ subscription, for instance. This is similar to the way that some internet tv "channels" such as alternative news sites and other premium content providers who produce their own content and use their own bandwidth, function. For just one "channel" or provider, you can pay $50 annually. Now, think of what that would be like if you had hundreds of channels? This way, you at least get exposed to tons of content, albeit 99% useless. Ala carte would force you to always know what you want and then order it, possibly changing your cable package very frequently.
I agree that it sucks, but it's what we're faced with... :(
If this really comes to a "head", then I don't t hink we'll see true a la carte, but rather, everything as on-demand, as traditional "channels" all but go extinct. CNN can't even get Dish to carry them due to low viewership... (as alternative news website traffic sky-rockets)
-
The www.imsa.com (http://www.imsa.com) site is functioning like shit today. It's too bad because there is some qualifying going on today. If the site is having trouble today because of traffic, then we can forget being able to use it for night time race coverage.

The Honda HPD is the class of the field. The pole lap was not even perfect, it could have been almost a second quicker.

Very nice. Thank you.

Holy shit! I do get FS2 :) Charter must have just added it to my tier recently.
-
Is this the 24 hours of Daytona or the 24 hours of non fucking stop commercials?

I fucking hate fucking fox network! I'm recording it, so I miss out on seein it live, but I can skip the hours of commercials.
Also, I have fs2, but only in standard def.
-
I got the start of the race on Fox and that's it. They aren't even broadcasting the finish on Fox.
iRacing has a 24h of Daytona team race next weekend.
-
When the race isn't on Fox or FS1, the stream on imsa.com works good.

Thanks. It is working very well right now and no commercials.

Good race.
Glad the Vette took home the win in GTLM. Was hoping for a 1-2 finish for both Vettes but 1-3 aint too shabby.
Don't care about PC though I felt bad for the team whose car caught on fire with 20 minutes left.
GTD, was happy with Viper taking the win.
And hey Wayne Taylor, maybe you should get your whole team Rolex watches or something.
-
He should either buy them watches or hire a mathematician. What a terrible, costly mistake.
-
It was a good race, I enjoyed what I saw of it and am still watching some that I have recorded. Having said that, I still think 5 hours of yellow flag is way too much yellow flag. They need to figure out a way to get their shit cleaned up and get back to racing. Also, they could probably stop with the get your lap back shit too.
-

are you refering to the guy or owner of the team who had to pit right before the finish to switch drivers due to someone being in too long?
Educate me: Who on the team would be responsible for that mistake, exactly?
-
ALso, check the GT Sats threads for some similar racing this saturday at 3pm...
unfortunately, specs may change slightly, but if someone wants to start practicing, the specs listed should be pretty close to final.

Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) Crew Chief or Race Engineer would be my guess.
Okay, I'm going to go with this guy. Brian Pillar (http://www.waynetaylorracing.com/team/) (Pit Stop Duties: Race Strategy)
I still think they got some big breaks with yellows too.

If only these were 3pm PST. :)
-
We'll DVR it for ya ;)
-
Ha! Now WTR has been scored last due to going over allotted driver time in car. Some other teams are a bit pissed because in the past they were DQ'd and WTR was given 16th place with points.
-
so not only did they mess up, but what they did to fix it was too little too late?
wow, yea I would hope someone would get fired over that shit.
