The support series to the GT300 series ran it's first two races without much fanfare due in part to me being slow to recover from bronchitis (going back to doc on Tues). But here are the results for the first two races. With races remaining at Nurbugring GP, Trial Mtn reverse, Cape Ring and Autmn Ring reverse I am going to try to be a better race promoter.

For anyone that may be wondering about the series it is being ran in support of the GT300 series on select weekends. The cars are Nissan Micra mm Cup cars brought up to a 185 HP limit with a 650 kilo weight ran on racing softs. As it is a support series it's starting time is always an hour and a half before the GT300 race. We run fifteen minutes of qualifying the race immediately after.

The Micra Series will be running at Cape Ring this weekend. Qualifying starts at 2:30 eastern with the race beginning at 2:45. Number of laps to be determined.
-
Gonna be some long laps in these cars. :P
-
I'm going to miss this race today. And possibly the main event too. :(
-
So when is qualifying?
-
Points in the series before the start of Sunday's race at the Cape.
1. Wizard 163
2. Rodeo 148
2. Baked 148
4. Brindle 139

6. Mann76 93
7. Dude 89
8. Darknarfy 65
9. Chrome 50
10. TopEnd 40
During the race Brindle ran away with it while Rodeo gave chase. Personally I hit the same piece of armco 3 times in the race. With the damage set to heavy this was bad. GTallstar had a damged car putting an early end to his aspirations of running up front. And then late in the race it would appear that Dude and Looney had their own issues allowing me to catch up to fourth.
1. Brindle(50)
2. Rodeo(46)
3. Chrome(43)
4. Baked(40)
5. Looney(37)
6. Dude(34)
7. GTallstar(31)
Points after the race stack up like this;
1. Rodeo (194)
2. Brindle (189)
3. Baked (188)
4. Wizard (163)
5. Dude (123)
6. jpe138083 (96)
7. Chrome (93)
7. Mann76(93)
9. Darknarfy (63)
10. TopEnd (40)
11. Looney (37)
12. GTallstar (31)
Congrats go out to new points leader RodeoTuna and to Brindle for Sunday's victory.

Are we doing the MM-R this weekend? If so I will try to make it again. It really helped me learn the track better last week.
-
I also need to finish lowering my car weight and tune. :o I jumped in at the last minute and it showed. (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/icon_doh.gif)

The 6st and final race in the series will be at Autumn Ring rev. series championship is going down the last race. Nissan's PR dept. is trying to piece together a sponsorship deal for the champ to take to his next series. Good luck Brindle and Rodeo.
Early shakedowns with new team and test driver at the wheel.

Cool, I posted on Mann-76's GT5 wall. Sunday MM-R cup @ Autumn Ring Reverse.
I never can remember the start times though. I just run some practice on Sunday morning and wind up in the right place at the right time somehow.

What are you looking for a three lap endurance race? :o

Congrats go out to Rodeo. And thanks to anyone who came out this was my first attempt at doing a series and it did not scare me away from doing another one to support the GT3 & GT5 races coming up. The plans are for a Mx-5 Cup. The Micras were ........ an interesting drive but these Mazdas should be immensely more fun. Details coming soon.

Nissan came through on the car but they claim the engineer was too valuable a commodity to loan out. As soon as the car came in I passed it along to Rodeo. Congrats Champ.
