Accumulating a total of twenty five points on the evening..

Disconnects will be treated as a mechanical DNF and scored accordingly.

Any ties in points at the end of the season will be broken by comparing first place finishes if still tied then compare the number of poles by each competitor.

The following is made up BS, fabricated purely for the purposes of the role playing part of Career in a Year. If you are not interested just hang out long enough and all the details will be made into a simple easy to read format somewhere down the road.

So the rumors are flying around about Adrian Newey becoming disenchanted with the new rules package in F1. And that he might be looking to new challenges. Now supposedly Red Bull does not want to lose his talents and is offering to help him as he enters into a new phase of his career. The story goes he will stay on in an advisory role to assist Christain Horner as they groom their Head of Aerodynamics, Peter Prodromou, to take over Newey's position.

All of this seems pretty straightforward but here is where the speculation is coming in as Mr. Newey is not giving out too much info at this time. What is he interested in doing now? Well that is according to who you ask, some say he is considering a return to Indy Car where he enjoyed success with Bobby Rahal as his driver back in the late 80's. Well Rahal does own a team now with his son being one of his drivers so their is some potential here. IndyCar has plans for allowing more leeway in aero packages in the future and they would be thrilled to get Newey away from F1 no matter which team he would work with. All of this seems plausible doesn't it?

Is Mr. Newey going to follow in the footsteps of Gordon Murray make the leap from F1 Tech Director to designing ground breaking road cars, like the McLaren F1 street car. While this may seem like a long shot the financial doors that would be opened just by his association with Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz not to mention the technical connections he has made over three plus decades in the sport make this scenario seem less far fetched than you might first think. Will Infiniti finally get a superar to compete with the likes of the Lexus LFA or Mercedes SLS?

Another insider said that the next challenge will be sports car racing. With projects like the Delta Wing recently coming into vogue maybe Newey's creative interest has been stirred, he did after all create some cyber design studies with Polyphony Digital in recent years. And he has won at the prototype level in the IMSA series when he worked with March. Is this his way of having his career come full circle? Who knows?

How is this gonna play out? Will you get a chance to play a part? Just imagine how your career could be effected getting to work with the likes of an Adrian Newey even if just as a test driver.

Upon hearing the rumors you text your agent and tell him now is the time for him to earn his money, find out what is going on and try to get your foot in the door you don't care what level it is at or how he gets it done. Just do it.

It may be made up but I think you may have found the dream of many Indy 500 fans.  Imagine of the rules were looser and F1 teams, drivers and engineers came to run the 500 again.  It'd be the mid 1960s all over again and might would usher in a era of speed, excitement and bring fans back to Indy.

or not.  :P

The following is made up BS, fabricated purely for the purposes of the role playing part of Career in a Year. If you are not interested just hang out long enough and all the details will be made into a simple easy to read format somewhere down the road.

More info is floating around about the new direction Red Bull is branching into and here is the latest.

Infiniti will offer the Q50 with a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine and a diesel in the future.
In an interview given to AutoWeek, an unnamed source high up within Infiniti for the Americas said these options will be available in two years, along with an all-wheel drive variant for the hybrid model. The est. 240HP turbo 4-cylinder will come from the collaboration between Renault-Nissan and Daimler, with Infiniti getting a power unit derived from the one used in the Mercedes C class. Not too interesting eh? Well here is where that changes. They also let it slip that 20 of the turbo engines were sent to Milton Keynes in the United Kingdom. This happens to be the home of Red Bull Racing and this shipment was sent care of a Mr "Newman"

What the hell is Red Bull Racing doing with this motor?

On top of these rumors is the fact that scouts for Red Bull Racing are seemingly at every event and talking to many drivers. What the hell is the plan here?

Your agent confirms that yes he has heard from the talent scouts at Red Bull but to him it all came off as a bit of an open audition or something. So he was waiting til he had some firm info to pass along before saying anything. As soon as he knows more he swears you will know too. And hey at least you are on Red Bull's radar.

So as more information becomes available it all starts piecing together. Red Bull Racing does indeed have interest in trying to be the overall winners at LaSarthe over the next few years. With Newey looking for a new challenge the timing seems to be right to start putting an endurance program together.

They are figuring a few years of testing before they will be ready to even just enter a car in the 24 hour event. To expedite the testing phase they will be building a fleet of these cars and sponsor a whole series of races. All the drivers will be under contract to Red Bull for the season. These will be the best and brightest drivers they could find from other series. From the marketers standpoint this will be great to be sure there is always a Red Bull driver and car in the winners circle.

A whole fleet of groundbreaking prototypes would be cost prohibitive. So to this end these cars will be Adrian Newey's designs in a 4/5 scale. They are already being referred to as Juniors around the design studio. Since all out power is not really important at this time they will be using a 2 liter 4 cylinder production based motor sourced from the new Infiniti Q50. The expected 250-260 HP should deliver rousing performance in such a lightweight and innovative car.

Having a whole field of these running through a season should get a wealth of data to use as they go forward with the main plan of conquering LeMans. And this "Jr" series should be a great series as it comes together while the world is waiting and watching.

Sounds like the series is focusing on endurance style tracks and there will only be five races for the whole season but they will be twice as long as the other series you have ran in so far. So your tactics will likely need to adjust but if you are interested your agent says you are in and if you can do well here who knows what it may lead to for rest of your career.

Check OP for car and room specs. As well as track schedule and format for races. Other rules such as setting the field and points will be released shortly.

Have been out practicing some and holy crap is this a great car to go sans aids. Fast surprisingly fast actually but the performance is still attainable to those of us who are merely human. If at all on the fence about this series do yourself a favor and get out to turn a few laps at spec on the tracks we are going to be running. That should sway anyone in the right direction.

Did some test runs on Spa and Daytona - the lock-ups were quite a surprise!  :lolz  I shouldn't embarrass myself too much; just as needed for comic relief.  Think I've dialed that down enough, practiced a bit, and hopefully work lets out early enough I can join the fun..

 Thanks for the welcome!

Good opening night, field of eight which is great news, that means next week there are eight open spots to be filled. Thanks to everyone for coming out.

We had three previous CiaY Champs in the field plus a few regular faces and new guy Ed, glad you made it out Ed. You looked good in the opening laps but as you found out it can be a tough, read quick, crowd. Hope all enjoyed themselves. Congrats to the guys with the champagne at the end of the day, Brindle(3rd), Wiz(2nd) and badaboya(1st). Nice job guys.

Great first race!  Spa fit these cars perfectly.

Wasn't a huge fan of these cars for a while but last night changed that.  Great fun.

Thanks Brindle for the tune.  I like to attempt to tune myself, but didn't get much seat time before the race so I used it with a slight tweak to the brake balance.  Not surprising, the car handled really well.  For those that struggle with tuning, use Brindles tunes found here - RedBull Jr. Tunes (http://www.supatunagt.com/smf/index.php?topic=3032.0.)  You won't regret it.

Congrats to bada on the win.

Great track list for this season.  Looking forward to the rest of it. :)

Ahh yes, Brindle personally received the "I crashed my PS3 at Bathurst" achievement :D.

I think a few of us also had sound issues, specifically when sitting on track in the pits all sound (including mic chatter) started cracking and breaking up but as soon as you hit the go button and pull out onto the track it cleared right up.  I did a few laps and didn't notice anything else beyond the sound issue but there definitely does seem to be some issues using it online right now :(.

Red Bull’s Adrian Newey not ruling out future move to Ferrari
Newey ‘needs to think’ about his future with Red Bull
By: GMM on May 12, 2014

The details of Adrian Newey's contract with Red Bull have not been released to the public.
Red Bull’s Adrian Newey has refused to categorically rule out a future move to Ferrari.
Rumors in the Barcelona paddock at the Spanish Grand Prix over the weekend suggested the fabled but struggling Italian team had renewed its big-money offer to sign Red Bull’s highly coveted Formula One technical boss.
When asked on Sunday if he will finish his F1 career with Red Bull, the 55-year-old Briton told Sky television, “I don’t know. I need to think about it.
“At some point, I am going to have to think about the future, but, at the moment, my focus is getting in front of the silver cars,” Newey said.
It is not known for how long Newey is contractually tied to the Milton Keynes-based team; in Spain, boss Christian Horner refused to divulge the details.
“For sure, the lure of Ferrari is always there,” Horner said. “But there’s the politics and the pressure that goes with it and the fact it is in Italy.
“Lots of us have been linked with Red Bull, but, so far, none of us have gone,” he added.

After your upload has finished, if you copy the "your video is ready to view at youtube.blahblahblah" link, it won't work.  For some reason that link adds extra characters that our embed mod doesn't like.

What I do is after my video is uploaded, click your username at the top of the page & go to your video manager, click to play the video you want to embed & copy/paste the link from your address bar (or while on video manager, right click and copy link address works too), remove the "s" in https if necessary.

Even though it's a minor pain, this method has worked for me every time.

okay thanks.

I could have sworn that's what I did though, right click from video manager and choose "copy link location".. I'll keep trying :D

Well...that was quite a mess on my part :( Obviously, the time slot is an issue; my performance was seriously uninspiring.

So.

I'll be retiring from the series, and looking for something else - better on a weekend evening, when I'm not so tired.

Normally, Friday nights were actually a good time to come race for me - I've run an event Friday nights with good results before. These 12 - 14 hour days are the problem - getting home 30 min before race time, and no practice: well, we all felt the result of that last night and I am Tuna enough to want everyone to have a great race.

Suggestions are welcome - I'll look forward to getting on track some Saturday with the school.

First suggestion do not think about it again. It was an accident that cost no money nor caused any physical harm, online is great that way. I understand about being worn out though and if this does not fit your schedule at this moment it is cool. Next week is the final race this month anyhow. Next month the cars are much less on the edge. So maybe seat time would not be such a big issue. But the biggest thing is to not be hard on yourself about this we are just out here for shits and giggles anyhow.

EDIT
Also headed back to work myself right now so I feel for ya. Tomorrow will be my 20th straight day. With about a third of those days I got to go to a second job in the evening. Frazzled and my driving showed it over the past few weeks. Hoping I do not have to take a provisional in tonight's Undy 500.

Brindle runs some Saturday night racing that can be found here - http://www.supatunagt.com/smf/index.php?board=17.0 (http://www.supatunagt.com/smf/index.php?board=17.0)

There isn't one scheduled for tonight due to the Indy 500 type race that's running here, but it will be back next week.

Boston77Bruins also has this going on here late Saturdays - http://www.supatunagt.com/smf/index.php?topic=2970.0 (http://www.supatunagt.com/smf/index.php?topic=2970.0)

I'm not ready, nor is my tune.  Will probably use Sarthe with a stiffer spring rate and more aero.

thanks, if I happen to make it home in time, I'll probably take those suggestions and run with them.

The following was reported by Top Gear this week.

"Is Adrian Newey going to design the world's greatest supercar?

We reported exclusively this week that Adrian Newey, Formula One's most successful boffin, could well be in the running to work with Infiniti on a new supercar.

Andy Palmer, Nissan’s British executive vice president, was one of the architects of the Infiniti-Red Bull F1 deal, and he’s clearly up for a deepening of the relationship between the two firms.

“Adrian is itching to do something new,” he told TopGear.com, “and we are actively exploring the technology cross-over with Red Bull, although these things can take a long time in the incubator.  Watch this space.”

A Newey Infiniti supercar. How on earth would such a monster look? And what on earth would power it? Some deranged variant on the GT-R’s 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6? Or something else entirely?"

Go back to what I wrote as a background story for series from this month. Are Clarkson, May and Hammond getting their news from the Tunaverse. Or is Newey drawing inspiration from the Tunaverse. Is truth just mirroring fiction by coincidence. Or could just be that I am Baked. I say it is all of them.
