Finally got bronze with the Z4 GT3 at Imola.

Didn't see this before.  Nice job!

I'm still stuck in the 49's.  :bummer

Doc,

does the game recognize the directional stick on your wheel?

It doesn't look like the game recognizes my direction stick.

Thanks for the setup.  I managed to get silver at Monza.

One of my favorite things to do in Race 07 was run cars around this...

I was super happy to find out it's been ported to AC!

I was just perusing the AC forums for the first time in a long time and came across this comment from Niels Heusinkveld:

"The reason AC is a good sim is largely because Aris knows the 'grip vs slip angle curves' on the internet are mostly hoopla. ;)"

Niels seems to be well respected on the iRacing forum.  He makes his own very high end pedal systems and is one of the physics guys for Game Stock Car.

I guess I can't complain about a free car. A free car that's not available in any other game (at least not that I know of).

That said, meh.

I thought that I heard that it was going to be in Forza5 but that might have been a rumour or wishful thinking.

I'm not really a car guy but more of a driving experience guy.  I'd rather see something we don't have yet like an LMP car or modern F1/F2.  But I'm not going to complain about the La Ferrari and I'm sure it will sell more copies of AC.

Looks like someone figured out how to access telemetry using software I've never heard of before.  Not Motec, but looks fairly similar.

Thread is here - http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/data-analysis-with-aim-analysis.2254/

Software here - http://www.aimsports.com/products/race-studio/downloads.html

I'm going to hopefully try this out today.  I'll let you know how it is.

I saw this a few days ago while searching how to import telemetry into Motec but I haven't downloaded it yet though.  Let me know how it is.

AI confirmed for tomorrow's release.  No mention of new tracks.
Quote
As you've probably have guessed by now, tomorrow update of Assetto Corsa will include the first taste of AI. In order to contain the hype and lower expectations, let's focus on the word "taste".

For this first AI update, we won't give you the complete grid AI enabled. There will only be some special events quick races, with some cars on some tracks that will give you a taste as I said of Ai races.
I know that everybody wants the full monty, but I'm also sure that you understand that we need to test the performance of the AI on various systems, check for bugs, improve it and so on. It is far easier for us to do so on some specific scenarios, than having to control the whole Assetto Corsa grid at once.

We're pretty satisfied with how AI is coming along, but we also want to make it better and that's exactly what we're going to do once the update is out. We will collect your impressions and reports and work our asses for the next update to make them even better and offer you as soon as possible the whole AI functionality. I'm pretty confident you're going to like what you will experience tomorrow and I'm sure you will be hungry for more. Tiny bit of patience and we will deliver, you know already that we are listening and working constantly on this.

As a side note, of course you're going to get a couple of new cars and some new upgrades too, plus a complete rework of our tyre model (yikes!)... it's subtle, nothing too drastic, but we think you'll like it even more.

Ok back to work to put the final touches on tomorrows update, thanks for listening

On the AI.  Overall I'm a little disappointed.  I kind of figured that things would be a little further along at this point.  The AI has good pace which is nice and once things settle down and you are chasing one of the cars, it feels like a real race.  But the AI does the GT drop back thing when they get passed.  If they catch up from you from behind, it isn't uncommon for them to bump you and send you off the track.  Seams like most contact with the AI will send you off the track.  Contact sounds are horrendous and contact physics are bad.  Still lots of work to do.

I got that AIM program working.  AC dumps a telemetry file in an assetto corsa aim directory after you exit a session.  Aim has a specific menu item to import NetKar files. Eazy peazy lemon squeezy.  AC always uses the same filename for the telemetry dump so you have to import the data into Aim before you start another session or the telemetry will be written over.

The other big question with AI is how performance would be affected.  Even with a bunch of AI cars framerates are still really good.  Probably drops 20-30fps.  I still get a lot more than rF2 with one car.  However, AC transitions to lower level of detail models probably quicker than it should and it is very obvious.  I find the adaptive tessellation that GT does to be pretty obvious but it is much smoother than the model swaps that AC does.

I knew one of these damn games I played, someone, somewhere, would have this livery made already. :)
