I don't know about the time trials, Chrome, but I DO know I can't drift and won't even attempt to burn off a set of tires,

Here's a novel idea: Why doesn't PD put up some interesting One-make DEALERSHIP races like they had in GT4 for Seasonal Evnets? Wait I believe I just

PD should look at which cars haven't traditionally been used much and fill the remaining months with Time Trials and SEasonal races with those cars.  One makes, etc.

There are a lot of cars that we collected because we just HAD to have them, and 10 diferent colors of them even.  But have we put even a mile on many of them?

certainly...

but the TT's lately have been done by handing you a car to drive because the cracked cars and other shinanegans are still rampant.

Note... GT Saturdays will be doing the above... looking for cars seldom or never used, over the next few months.

nice!

I still have never tried a drift challenge.  Just the TT's.  I don't want to learn how to eat up tires :D

Drifting with a 900 degree wheel is very hard compared to a controller (better yet, a 200 degree wheel - like the old driving force feedback wheel - is awesome for drifting)

While I appreciate your enthusiasm for drifting, If ya can't use a 900 degree steering wheel for the "sim", then why bother?  Using a hand controller or a 200 Degree steering wheel "smacks" of being "arcady", IMHO.  Call me a "purist"', but that's how I roll, buddy.

I'm not opposing people who like to drift, but I think if you want the same experience with drifting as you have with the intensity of sim racing, then why use arcade devices?  If it is THAT difficult to "drift" with a 900 degree wheel, then why don't real D2 Racers IRL use DS2 controllers to drift their cars - wouldn't it be easier??

shit, I'd even go so far as to say that I wish GT didn't pander to the drifting "sport" at all.  I use that word reluctantly, mind you.

I think PD is basically pandering to the Japenese youth who love drifting so much.

Oh, and need I say that drift cars are the most riced-out and ugly cars ever designed (most of them)?.  (note, riced out does not mean asian, but gaudy, visually busy for the sake of being as flasy as possible)

Yes, I know drifting takes skill, both in mechanics and in driving, but it's much like saying that jumping off of an airplane is a sport or body piercing being a sport.  The analogy being that the intention of the activity is to do a thing with the subject matter that was not intended.

And then judging the "competition" subjectively by such things as "style" and "finesse" rather than something measurable like crossing the line first or fastest.  That to me says "neato" or "gee golly that's fun to watch" but not "SPORT" or "COMPETITION".

Bikini model competitions are more meritorious than drifting in my book.  At least when a bikini model gets up on stage there is a physical reaction from spectators which can, if necessary, be measured.  ;)

Croonah my understanding has been that real life pro drifters seriously quicken their steering ratio.

And Ex I mostly agree with you. It does require some amount of car control talent but the only time I see overlap of drifting and racing is in some rally stuff and in Outlaw cars on little dirt ovals. If they would add those to GT then I would be willing to give drifting a go. Otherwise drifting is similar to drag racing for me, it's just not for me at all.
