I just noticed. What's the deal with that though?

I just noticed that today as well. Seems useless to me. If there's a premium version, they should dump the standard.

They did the same thing last Sept 13, '69 Z28 and the MB 300SL Coupe '54 were both released as standard. Hmmmm.

because they imported all the cars from GT PSP...

I bought them just for something to spend credits on.

But seriously, what is with this new Seasonal time trial and all the cheating???!!

I think I've given up on it because even some of the 2J times are apparently manipulated somehow...

Stupid PD for making two time trials in a row that the 2J can dominate.  They should have restricted that car as well as the 5G version of the Red Bull...

Can anyone good at time trials maybe give this #70 600pp race cars at Sarthe a try to see if I'm on to something here? (this is the one ending tonight, and it is run at the night track)

In this particular TT, most of the really obvious cheater cars were specifically excluded, such as the Red Bulls.

Unfortunately the 2J was not, so it is two time trials in a row that seem dominated by the car.  Or is it?

I ask, because I can't get remotely close to the times that some people are getting with that car.  I wouldn't expect to be right up there with the leaders, but at least several seconds back on a track like Sarthe 2009 w/ chicanes.

Now, it's at night so driving the 2J is a PITA for sure, but if you have a ghost to chase it's easier.

So, getting to the main point (finally) there were some hidden versions of the Red Bulls being used which many entries were cleaned up.  They are the ones that say "(5g)" in the car name.  PD cleaned those up because they are obvious hacks/cheats.

What I suspect is that many of the other seemingly legit car's times are also hacked because the times are a little too good to be true.

Take a look:
http://www.mygranturismo.net/rankings.php?sec=3&board=146

These times seem to be bunk too:
Imprezza Super Touring Car
RS200 Rally Car '85
FTO Super Touring Car
ALTEZZA Touring Car
Focus Rally Car '99
155 2.5 V6 TI '93
Vertigo Race Car '04

At first I tried the Vertigo because I wanted to see if anything could rival the 2J without actually using the 2J.  THere was nothing I could do to that car to get it close to the times (within 9 or 10 sec would have been okay).

I tried the GT One Race Car with a tricked out ballast and limiter did well enough, which was good enough to beat everyone on my FL except a guy using a 2J, who was obviously not cheating btw.

I went back to the 2J not wanting to drive in the dark, but tried everything I could think of to trick the car out, but it was noticably slower than my GT One RC.  That stands to reason that most of the 2J times are hacked cars, but certainly not all of them.

I think anything faster than "X" time with a 2J must also be faked.

Can anyone get something relatively close to the top 2J times, meaning as close as you would typically be in a Time Trial like this one?

I'm hoping to pass along some analysis to MasterGT so maybe the new Time Trials will be better planned.

My time in the GT One is:

The Vertigo has a "feature". (As does the Speed 12)

If you disbale aero (set to lowest setting) you can then slide your engine slider to the LEFT and end up with more hp (though lower pp) than if you slide it RIGHT all the way.

I use this "feature" to :fuck with people out on DSS with the Speed 12. If the pp is set right there is no car in the game that can keep up.  PP is low but HP is more than 1000.

I'm pretty sure I did that, but perhaps I'll have to double-check.

You're just talking about the general rule of lessening downforce so you can up your HP, right?

Maybe I'm still confused, IDK.

Typically I'm a bit behind Ex so no surprises. another reasonably fast friend used the 2J and is 1/10st faster than your GT1 time Ex if that helps

was that Fijiboi1989 by any chance?  he was at the top of my FL with a 2J and I just fell shy of his time with a GT One RC.

I didn't have time to try this last night (well I had time but also had a new game ;) ) oh well

Same here.  I was gonna give this a go, as I'm curious myself, but GTA5 sounded like the better option last night.

TC-Amo87 is usually pretty high up on the leaderboards.  I think he finished top 20 worldwide in the last Academy.  I think he was the highest 2J in this TT and I'd be surprised to find out that he was hacking it.  I think he is legit.

so much GTA V that you're starting to vouch for people :D

I bet there's just a tuning trick that I don't understand yet, and not being as fast of course.

But those like the Subaru I don't understand at all how they could be up so high...

After searching around the net a bit (mainly GTP), I believe all the other cars you listed were indeed hacked.

Also, yes I do believe there are some tuning tricks that the really fast guys use.  I've tried some of these tricks and for my style they made the cars practically undriveable.   The trick is to basically get the cars to slide like crazy.  Not really a drift, but similar to what was going on in GT Academy, only perhaps a little more extreme.
