Daytona Seasonal Tips:

  • pick a car and test the handling before you start (mine was all over the place)
  • staggering tires may help with getting even tire wear
  • the lighting is terrible after 4PM
  • be careful of environment penalties
  • the AI must be taxi drivers, so watch the exits - they can be stacked up 5-6 deep, waiting to pick up passengers
  • use the rooftop cam, to get a better view of approaching corners
  • you might be able to get finished in 14 laps, but figure on 15
  • don't go past 5 laps before pitting - fuel is not likely to be a big problem, tires are (don't light them up, either)
  • be careful while entering the pits - you might not be able to change your tires and get gas if you are pressing on the accelerator when the auto-pilot takes over

We had different strategies MGT.

I managed gold on the very first attempt.  Maybe it was the car, but I found it really, really easy.  I never got caught up with the AI or environment restrictions.

I used the Delta wing with RH in front, RM in back.  NO, zero, zip, nada, pit stops needed.  The tires will last and I ran out of fuel as soon as I crossed the starting line ending the race.  Finished a lap + over the nearest competitor.

One of these days I am going to have to pick up one of those Delta Wings. While home for lunch today I bought a Merc C9 and threw on a Praiano tune. Fresh from the dealer without an oil change is 691pp.  ^-^

:stoopid: re: Delta wing, I have one but can't drive the damn thing. Do you have a tune you could share Boston.
I used a stock Bentley, RMs for first stint, RS/RM 2rd stint and softs to finish
Mix and match stint did not work well

I'll send my Delta Wing setup later today.  Although, I didn't do to much to it.

It is an odd thing to drive and will take a few laps to start to understand it.  Daytona RC is the perfect place.

I ran something similar to this.  But, I'll get what I ran out to you soon.

I softened the front springs just a bit.
Rear Roll bar set to 4
LSD 32/18/12
Tranny set to 211 or 217
RH tires in front, RM in back.  They didn't degrade below level 5.
This car goes balls out the entire track.  Really fun
The best part-no pit stops.

I'm hoping to give this a run tomorrow... I'll have to buy a Delta Wing for the purpose... been dying to drive it.

Question to people who have used it, would the Delta Wing make for a good TuTu car?

Thanks for the tip, Boston!

Under-speced, it won by over three seconds and with a red gascan, and it handled so much better than the first car that I used. This event must have been made with this car in mind because it is the perfect choice. Good call.

I'll be buying a Delta wing today. I ran 3 races with the C9 and finished P2 all three times.

Dude and sox, I sent the tune I used to your XMB messages.

EX, both versions (2012 & 2013) are 2 million each.

Stepper,  I can't speak for anyone else because it was one of those cars I had to buy as soon as my finances permitted.  Over a year ago now.  I'm used to it.  It runs fantastic at the longer fast tracks like Spa, DRC, IRC, Monza, La Sarthe.

I would let a few other people comment on it before making a choice on it.
