I've been messing around with untuned cars and have been thinking about GTs of the past and thought I throw something together that would more or less be in the spirit of the Original Gran Turimso.
When 12-26 starting at 9pm eastern, although I'll proably get things going early.
Any normal street car 460pp (except the Acura/Honda NXS) (hp reduction is permitted)
tuning prohibited
sports hard tires
Tracks: HSR, Trial Mountain, Grand Valley, SSR5, Autumnring, Deep Forest and any variations thereof. (3 to 5 laps)
Fast tire wear
Light damage
weak draft
If its available I'd like to use the HostTuna lounge, otherwise it will be in dlwrs6 lounge.
Can any one confirm is HostTuna will be open? I'm not even sure who I'd have to ask (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)

All three lounges are usuallu open on Wednesday's; so there should be no problemo...
also also, good ideas are good.

Perhaps only use cars that could have been in the original game also. Ie no cars newer than 1999 model year or whenever the first game was released.
-
This all sounds a bit Dickensian, like the Ghost of GT Past :). It also sounds likea lot of fun too, the original GT was released in '97 so I'll do my best to make it and will probably show up in something from the 90s or before if I do!
-
I hope to make this. :D
-
...with thoughts of supra's and viper's smoking their tires in my head... :D
-
Have fun! I'll be unable to make it :(
-
I'll be there ... not sure what to drive...but I will think of something
-
... not sure what to drive...

EDIT: needed to save to make search viewable, hopefully this works:

1998 and back: (i'll probably stick with 97s, but some good stuff turns up in 98)

I think there is a car or two missing from that list. There is at least the TVR Cerbera Speed 6 '97
http://www.mygranturismo.net/car_sheet.php?id=994 (http://www.mygranturismo.net/car_sheet.php?id=994)
I like the idea of running only 97 and earlier cars, but I'm not going to officially change the rule. I want to leave room for me to get at least one or two races in with the 2000 Camaro SS. (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif) The 97 Camaro does not quite make the PP level and it drives like crap.
This also leads me to a second idea of doing something similar in a few weeks, just at a lower PP level. With a drop in the range of 40 to 100 PP, we could actually limit the field to just cars that were in GT1. Only downside is that it would be mostly standard cars. :( Well, at least for those that prefer premiums.

I didn't get too creative with the sort - it's bound to have missed a few, especially as i used an arbitrary upper PP limit (Speed 6 misses by having 503pp max, for example) - i'll bump it up a few ticks
EDIT: bumped up to 530 or so PP, adds a couple nice cars - i know this is not official or anything, i just went cross-eyed trying to find stuff sifting through the garage
it could be nice to move the PP limit around some for a few races, there are some good cars that are just a bit under, and i know i have some favorited which are a few years too new
in addition to my long-time preference for untuned cars, i'm developing a taste for offline gt redone online, be it in general theme, recreation of seasonal events, or whatever. i'd be interested in revisiting this concept, i guess i mean to say. should be a fun race

That was some great racing last night. It was a blast seeing all the different cars that were competitive.
-
I want to see photos or it didn't happen. :) :P
-
LOL I didn't save a single replay. I must have imagined it. ^-^
I was wondering where you were. It was tuning prohibited, sport hard tires and Power limiter adjustable. You'd be surprised at all the cars. I also remember Hotstepper winning a bunch of races. 8)
Also, also, Feldynn looked like Darth Vader in his Exprit.

Fun Fun Fun. I like the choose-your-own shuffle format. Thanks guys!

I think I saved the replay of the Grand Valley East race where we were all in neutered exotics and maybe one of the HSR races. I'll try and see if I can get some pictures from it and post them with the tuna cup and other photos I've been meaning to post.
That was a lot of fun, I'll have to play with the PP settings and track choices and try it again soon. :laugh
