As long as I can race on of these.

2013 Trans Am | Hurst Edition | Official Commercial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-iMnsOPPNI#ws)

yes I'm beating myself up now for buying a Mustang.  If only I had know about these a year ago.

Seriously...does nobody want to do enduros anymore?  WTF mate  :(

I like em, but they get quite boring if there's no one else on track of a similar skill level as you and it turns into a time trial enduro.

go ahead and post this up on PS Forum too, because with some of the participants of Crow's series and Ed's vette series, I'd think there would be some closer competition...

depending on when it is held and my availability, I might be interested too...

I've been online once in the last six weeks, but a good enduro will always bring me out of retirement.

I'm super busy for the next 7-8 days but after that I should have some vehicle specs set up and ready to go (hint:  challenger TC will most likely be stock, with the Camaro modified to bring it up to a similar PP).

A stock TC Challenger with downforce turned all the way up is around 605 hp and 602 PP.  That will probably creep up a bit with engine break in.  I'm trying to build up a Camaro RM to match the Challenger's speed but am having difficulty.

A) If anyone would be willing to help I would appreciate it.

or

B) If there is interest in a spec race with just the Challenger we can do that ;D

I'll mess around with it today.

I noticed one thing.  In stock form the cars have a completely different set of parts.  I matched their parts up and ran some pretty close times, but I think the Dodge still has an edge.  If you have not, try adding the stage one engine mod, ECU chip, Sports Intake Manifold, Racing Air filter, Sports Exhaust Manifold, Catalytic Converter: Sports and adjustable LSD.

As it stands both of my cars have a little over 200 miles on them and have the following numbers with all adjustables set to default.

Camaro RM - 559hp, 500 torque, 2.13 power/weight, 1210 kg 606pp

Dodge TC - 618hp, 528 torque, 2.05 power/weight, 1285 kg 595pp

This is in no way a definitive match; I have not run nearly enough laps with it. The Camaro may need more or the challenger less.

I did not run enough to be consistent in either car but in a series of 5 lap runs my lap times were within ~.300 of each other and in the 1:47 - 1:46 range.

thanks dlr.

I hate restricting engine output, as the power curves thus become unrealistic.  So I'm trying to leave the Challenger stock and just bring the Camaro up to a competitive level.  Stock it only has 480hp or so (if memory serves correct).  If the Camaro can reach around 550hp via the engine "stage" upgrades instead of a supercharger I think they will be closely matched.

Of note, I left all suspension/drivetrain settings stock and set both vehicles transmissions to a top speed of 203 (for testing).  I also maxed out the Challenger's downforce (15F 35R) and set the Camaro's downforce to match (though it's capable of much higher).

Bump...

Seems these days I'm getting bored from all the tedious testing of these darn things.  Is anyone still interested in this, as just a single make race?

How about:

-Challenger TC
-Spa 50 laps
-a Friday night in August

I'm open to other venue preferences.

Anybody home?

I spent about 2 hours last night and I think I've got the Challenger & Camaro evenly matched up.  Let's do a race!!!!

Responses please! :)

Great Grumpy!

Okay, after doing further testing I have come to consensus on a vehicle match up!!!  Unmodified Challenger SRT8 TC and modified Camaro SS RM.

A fully broken in stock Challenger should have around 621hp and weigh 1285 kg.  Max downforce available is 15F/35R.

Camaro build specs:
-stage 2 engine upgrade
-sport intake manifold
-sport exhaust manifold
-racing air filter
-75 kg ballast
-downforce set to 15F/35R

That should result in 556 hp fully broken in.  Other than down force all settings can be adjusted (suspension, transmission, etc).
The Challenger (obviously) maintains a horsepower edge but the Camaro's handling seems to offset it.

Event settings:
-Race Medium Tires
-Driving aids allowed:  ABS = 1, TCS & Driving Line
-Damage Mild
-Penalties Off
-Tire/Fuel set to fast

Participants:
-WolfpackS2k
-TunaPhreak
-RickS95
-dlrws6
-GrumpyTuna (maybe)
-cr0wlft0fdmurder
-F1Cheetor
-exXboxFan (?)
-waverider*tuna
-GrilledTuna                    Challenger

horsepower figures updated for fully broken in cars

The rash of discos we seemed to have in the past several weeks makes me shy away from doing long races at the moment. That is my personal thoughts though I don't claim to speak for anyone else.
Title: Re: Trans-AM racing...its baaaaaaack
Post by: Wolfpack987 on July 17, 2013, 06:12:36 AM
I understand that concern, however I've only witnessed one disco in the last 45 days or so*

*I've been racing a bit less though  :P

Better put me down as a ?, because my mother is coming up from California today. I'm not sure how long she will be staying, so the 23rd would be better for me maybe.

Noted!

I'll admit right now that I'm leaning towards the Challenger.  I think the Camaro's handling is more sublime, however I've got an e-boner for the challenger's exhaust note ;D

9th it is!!!  Practice at 8:45, Qualifying at 9:00, Race at 9:30PM, all times EST.

Updated first post to centralize all the needed info.

ATTN:  Camaro's horsepower has been reduced (disabled use of Sports Catalytic Converter) to 556hp.  With 570 hp it was still too fast for the Challenger  :-X

Sorry, but I'm out.  My cat thought it would be a good idea to chew through one of the cables on my G27.  It appears I can get a replacement shifter for about $40 on eBay, but I won't have it in time.

I've got another shifter on order, should be here Saturday or Monday.

Also, I've got a cat and a dog and my son has 7 or 8 fish.  If I ever get my freaking rental property finished, I'll have another dog to add to the family.  Been wanting a German Shepherd for about 40 years now, it's time.

And speaking of dogs, I just got a 2nd one on Monday night.  A 7 month old Lhasa Apso, Blue Heeler, Australian Cattle Dog mix.  But I'm not his owner, I'm just fostering him till he is adopted by a loving family  :)

FYI, I've got a little family business to take care of so I may be a little late. I should have no issues making the race I may just miss part of qualifying.  No worries though I like starting in the back... which I'd probably still do even if I do make it in time to qualify.  ;D

I applaud you for fostering an animal.  I simply can't do it.  I get attached and there's no way I could give one back.  My mom did it years ago and it tore her up to see them leave.  Kudos to you for helping and having the balls to give them up.

^thanks for the kind words :)

I'm planning to do a practice race tonight around 9PM EST, to figure out tire longevity and my fuel strategy.  Also gotta dial out a little bit of push on turn in.  If anyone wants to join in just look for my dot!

Out of around 9-10 people that said they would make the race only 4 people showed up (including me).  That being the case we (being everyone that did show up) voted to reschedule the event in hopes that we can get a decent crowd together this time.

Nobody really voiced a complaint about the 16th when I proposed it, so let's try to do this again! ^-^
