SupaTuna GT Presents:    The Twenty-fours Tires of Daytona (Road Course)

Pick your choice of :
'05 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX  GSR (Race Modified)
'05 Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STi  spec C Type RA (Race Modified)

Any and all tuning is allowed but may not exceed 579pp.  Then slap on some Racing Soft tires and you're ready.   

Racing will be held in an OPEN Lobby and will start promptly at 3pm EDT.  The lobby will open at 2:30pm and Qualifying will begin at 2:45pm.  After qualifying do not leave the pit area or you will be placed in the back of the pack instead of your qualifying position.  

You can plan on pitting at least 5 times in the race; maybe more based on your driving style, but definitely at least five times.  All driving aids will be disabled.  False Starts engaged.  "Race for Real" mode.  Heavy Damage.  Heavy penalties.

Still you can expect some very goos times as we race around Daytona Road Course for fifty laps (178 miles).  Also also, there will be prizes for the podium finishers.  

So grab some faulken tires, or any other kind of tires you choose and let's race!

Qualifying:  2:45pm EDT

Duration:  Approximately 2.5 to 3 hours;
The Car(s):  RM 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX  GSR vs RM 2005 Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STi  spec C Type RA     (RM = Race Modified @ GT Auto)
Performance Points: 579pp
Tires:  Racing Soft
Tire Wear: Very Fast
Lap Count: 50 laps --  178 miles

Other Wrinkles:
"Race for Real" mode
False Starts (hold them brakes down at start)
No Driver Aids at all - this includes TC, ABS, and Driving Line
Heavy Damage
Heavy Penalties

There will be no CAUTIONS or race restarts.  

And with Heavy Damage and Heavy Penalties in play, Charlie's recommendation is take it easy on lap 1 - especially on turn 1.

Our event participation guidelines are very simple. We ask that all drivers race hard, fast and clean. Participants should control their cars as if they owned them and avoid in-race contact with others. If your actions disturb the forward progress of another driver we ask that you pull over or slow down and allow the other driver to regain his position ahead of you. Have fun!!!

Kum-ho tires are very nice...  Though I had no idea of that when I first saw them on my RX8.  I thought they were a knock up, er, uh, off or something...

Even tooling around in a set Toyos is acceptable.  They look like they would heat up just fine.

Endurance Racing is part of our original Tuna heritage.   It has been part of Tuna genetics since the very beginning.  I hope you can join us for what promises to be some really goos times.

I would really really really really like to do this but I don't think I can make it happen.  I have a rental house that I've been working on updating since my last tenant moved out.  She was a fucking slob so I'm replacing pretty much everything, new paint throughout, new floors in every room but the kitchen and bathrooms, carpet in the three bedrooms, new kitchen cabinets, and cleaning throughout, not to mention fixing the broken window and everything else that doesn't seem to work quite like it used to.  

My stepdad is helping me, so I'm working on the house at both times when I'm free and when he's free.  I'm currently into my fourth week of dealing with poison oak, that set me back three weeks on the damned house because I couldn't do anything then, so I'm really really really really behind where I want to be and my stepdad wants to get the thing finished.  

So, I have a busy 4-day weekend ahead of me.  I'll be at the rental house each day, but I don't know when I'll be available...and last night was the second time I logged on in two months.  I'm rusty.

To make a long story short, I would like to and I will try to and I'm looking forward to it, but I can't actually commit til the last minute.  And, if I do show up, I'll suck and hit people and run out of gas and miscalculate pit stops and do all kinds of shit that would prevent a good finish.

BTW, y'all...  Feldynn was my original inspiration for this event with his recent "The 2.24 Miles of LeMons".  However, it is worth noting that y'all inspire me with attendance at evnets I put together.  It's why I try thinking of imaginative ways to keep interest going...

This is a truly limited-edition TUNA Evnet.  There will only be 16 slots available for this single race, open lobby event.  So be there promptly or your spot may be inhabited by some 'loper...

 Ya you missed a very fun race there Chrome! Except for getting third place and being lapped by Dude and Bada. Me and waverider was have a race for third until he ran out of fuel. Great race setup there Charlie was fun.

Thanks to Charlie and everyone for the goos race :)

My Evo was a Hoe! It ate tires and drank fuel like one, ran out of Tunoco after my second stop for tires cause pit crew didn't get all the fuel in >:( and lost any chance of finishing on same lap with the leaders but that's racing. :'(

That was exciting and stressful at the same time. I've always liked that Subi and managed to keep it damage free. I can't believe how close a race it was badaboya, even after fifty laps and untold pit stops. Great fun everyone and thank you host Charlie.


I took a look at the replay to see what happened to Ninja. It seems he had damage, went into pits where his pit crew managed to change tires and fill the tank, but somehow did not repair the damage to his car. Very strange.

Sorry I missed this.  Been doing lots of prepping for painting and finally today, some actual painting.  Second coat tomorrow, hopefully get started on painting the trim pieces of doors and windows and shit, and then some flooring.
