SupaTuna GT Presents: The Twenty-fours Tires of Nürburgring

Pick your choice of :

’02 Ford GT (standard)
’05 Ford GT (standard)
’05 Ford GT “no stripe” (standard)
’06 Ford GT (premium)

Any and all tuning is allowed but may not exceed 607pp. Then slap on some Racing tires and you're ready.

Racing will be held in an OPEN Lobby and will start promptly at 5pm EDT. The lobby will open at 4:30pm and Qualifying will begin at 4:45pm. After qualifying do not leave the pit area or you will be placed in the back of the pack instead of your qualifying position.

You can plan on pitting at least 5 times in the race; maybe more based on your driving style, but definitely at least five times. All driving aids will be disabled. False Starts engaged. "Race for Real" mode. Heavy Damage. Heavy penalties.

Still you can expect some very goos times as we race around Nürburgring 24h for 12 laps (186 miles).

Also also, there will be prizes for the podium finishers.

So grab some faulken tires, or any other kind of tires you choose and let's race!

Where: Nürburgring 24h (15.5 miles)
Lobby opens: 4pm EDT
Qualifying: 4:15pm EDT
Race Starts: 5:00pm EDT
Duration: Approximately 2.5 to 3 hours;
The Car(s): Any non-LM/race Ford GT (see list above)
Performance Points: 607pp
Tires: Racing
Tire Wear: VERY Fast
Lap Count: 12 laps -- 186 miles

Other Wrinkles:
"Race for Real" mode
False Starts (hold them brakes down at start)
No Driver Aids at all - this includes TC, ABS, and Driving Line
Heavy Damage
Heavy Penalties

There will be no CAUTIONS or race restarts. And with Heavy Damage and Heavy Penalties in play, Charlie's recommendation is take it easy on lap 1 - especially on turn 1.

Our event participation guidelines are very simple. We ask that all drivers race hard, fast and clean. Participants should control their cars as if they owned them and avoid in-race contact with others. If your actions disturb the forward progress of another driver we ask that you pull over or slow down and allow the other driver to regain his position ahead of you. Have fun!!!

I confused, how is that different from me qualifying?

However, given how long it takes to complete a lap (around 8.5-9 minutes), it will be impossible for anyone to complete a complete qualifying lap.

Given I have altered the start to allow for 45minutes of qualifying; everyone should be able to get at least timed two laps in (though on somewhat worn tires).

warm-up; lap; pit; lap; lap (granted this is if you opt for Racing Hard tires...)

We can also shit-can the qualifying idea and just let folks warm-up and have it set to "fastest first"...

I would like to keep it on very fast also.

I can do one lap on Racing Softs and two on Racing Hards - I have just under half my tiire but would never make another whole lap)

I am going with natural time progession, so it will probably be getting near dusk when we finish. Basically an afternoon cruise thru the German countryside.

I worked myself up from 3nd last and almost got to Cip on the last lap. He made a mistake on the carousel which should have been my opportunity but I went and made a mistake on the carousel. Great race. Great combo.

Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time to practice, and with the set up I used the only practice I had was in the lounge itself immediately before the race :-X With that being said my car suffered from some truly horrible understeer in a few turns on the GP section of the course. I don't think I had a single clean lap, and apologies to a few fellas I inadvertently held up after spin recoveries. I tried to stay outside of the racing line when coming back into the track but it is a tight track so I knew it wasn't easy.

I never quite mastered the ABS-less braking and 1st or 2nd gear snap oversteer infuriated me to no end (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)

Wish I had more free time to set up, but I had a great time and look forward to doing it again, sometime in the future I'm sure ;D

I know i never had a clean lap, and I apologize if i was the cause of the lag wreck in the beginning. My other Ethernet cord broke so i tried a new one the day of the race.
