Title: DRUNK DRIVING- Deal with it
Post by: Boston77Bruins on March 16, 2014, 03:30:26 PM
Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you know about what has become a Saturday night race event of sorts.

I'm not really sure how it came about.  My friends, who are new to GT, wanted to try online racing with me.  Saturdays fit our schedules the best.  About 5-6 weeks ago we met up and raced for many hours.  We also drank way more than we should have.

We mistakenly made it a public room the first night and we were visited by strangers attracted to the title of the room.  Turns out it wasn't a mistake.  People came in and stayed in.

Fast forward to today.  What started out as a way for me to race my real world friends has bloomed into a weekly race.  People came back week after week.  This shocked the shit out of us.  We now have regulars to Drunk Driving night.  We had a full (16) room last night for quite some time.  People seem to enjoy this.

HOW IT WORKS:
-Usually starts around 7:00 pm PST
-Look for friends or the public room titled DRUNK DRIVING-Deal With It
-We have learned, after many failed drunkin' attempts, to start off in high powered cars and then switch to slower cars as the night goes on.
-Tires grade is unlimited as is the choice of car-just meet the PP spec.
-We run quick races with 5 minutes in between (time to refill beer and enjoy the leaf)
-After running 3 races at a track a vote to change gets put up.

Sportsmanship is required.  Tuna rules apply.
Yes, we are shit faced.  Some bumping is going to happen.  But, that doesn't give anyone the right to punt people.  This gets told to every new person who enters.
We have only had to kick 2 people in 6 weeks.  Not bad considering we are drinking heavily.

If you are bored on a Saturday.  If you are drunk on a Saturday.  If you wanna waste a few hours having some fun, then come drinking with us!

I must add that you can be sober.  you DO NOT need to be drunk, drinking or smoking to enter.  But, it sure helps  (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif)

This may surprise some of you but I have always raced online buzzed. So I should fit in fine when I stop by one evening.

Sometimes, I look for Saturday evening racing, so I will try to remember about you guys, esp now that I am almost finished completing GT6.

this sounds like a really good event actually.  I may if I have some friends locally over to my house on a Sat night, have us take turns on my account.  so there WILL be bumping, but i'll make sure they understand good ettiquette or they won't be using my name or racing with my GT friends.

all in all, a really good idea.  ALso, if someone stays home to drunk drive, that means they are not out on the road.  You're doing society a valuable service :D

Last week I was enjoying Lagunita's  special release "Undercover Shut Down Ale".  I enjoyed 8 of them during the night.  At 9.6% ABV and the tree I hit up, I was hammered.  I think I staggered to bed at bar closing time, 2am.  Had a blast.

If you can find ANY Lagunita's in your area, I would highly recommend picking it up.  I absolutely love everything I have tried from them.  6 varieties so far.  Next one on the list is "Hairy Eye Ball".  But, haven't found it in bottles yet.

This week I am toning the ABV down and drinking Stones IPA.  6.7% if I'm not mistaken.  Very nice bouquet and palatability.

Stone IPA might be the most underrated beer ever.  Absolutely world-class and reasonably cheap.

Spot on Rick.
It's such a hidden gem.  It gets lost in the mountains of new IPAs being made today.

Its in the Sam Adams Boston Lager price range.  It's better than a lot of current IPAs and the quality is consistent batch after batch.

No reason not to pick up a sixer or pallet of it.

Occasionally I can pick up a bomber for $5.50 around here or a sixer for $8.99.  I'm not sure there's a better bargain out there for something so good.

Not sure what the basketball games for tomorrow evening hold, but I might try out your drunkenfest races.

I noticed you said you were racing til 2 AM the other night...that's 4 AM my time so I have no doubts there will still be racing.  Will likely show up.

I'm am sorry I missed this last night. I guess I stayed up way too late and drank way too much at Friday's race. I could not make it to the racing seat.

For sure I will be making it next week so look out.  :laugh

I'm sorry I missed it too.  I knocked down a 750ml bottle of Don De Dieu, then followed that with a couple pale ales.  All I remember is watching the tail end of the late basketball game at about 11:30 and the next thing I remember is waking up at 3:45 in the morning.

I was hammered early on.  I didn't last past 11:30 last night.

Gotta start drinking a little later in the night I think.

Please do show up.  The more drunks the merrier.  (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif)

We've had some good times the past few weeks.  Full 16 player race rooms,  variety of cars chosen, and drunks that are now regularly showing up week after week.

Only had to deal with one dickhead last week who thought he'd bring a hacked Civic to the room.  What a d-bag!  Other than that, it has remained civil, and has been fun.

Tonight's racing is still a go.

But, it will not be starting until closer to 8:00pm P.S.T. today.

FFKowalski and myself have business to attend to before drinking tonight.

Look for me or the Public Room titled  "Drunk Driving Deal with it" (FFKowalski's room) or "Drunk Driving-Clean as possible" (my room)

Thanks, you drunkin' ........ (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif)  Hope to see some of you tonight.

Full room at one point.  good laughs and good fun.

Thanks again gents for coming out and braving the conditions.

It's been a lot of fun lately and full rooms to boot.

I do want to mention fairness.  It is rare that we have issues with people.  But, I cannot witness all the douchebaggery that happens.  Last night we had a guy who liked to block.  I didn't know about that until several races later.  Please, speak up and name the offender so we can deal with it and continue to have fun.

That's what it's all about anyway, FUN.

Thanks guys!

Need to blow off some steam?

Come join us for an evening of drunkin' fun.

I'll be on around 8pm PST, but a room may be opened already by FFKowalski.  Look for Drunk Driving- deal with it or Drunk Driving- clean as possible.

Forget the troubles of the day and close the bars with us.

Thanks Boston and friends for putting this on.  I spent the day cleaning the house and decided to reward myself by moving my PS3 to my wheel and racing online.  If this was drive in, the movie that would best suit the night was The Good the Bad and the Ugly.

The Good
Racing online with friends.  I really miss this aspect of GT.

The Bad
GT6 netcode.  It is seriously bad.  It is probably the worst netcode that I have experienced in any game including GT5P and GT5.   I had the game freeze on me twice, once was bad enough that my PS3 did the three beep reset.  I got disconnected from the room a couple of times and the room completely crashed once.  On track often looked like a slideshow even when no cars were around.

The Ugly
I only had one beer in the house.  A can of Guinness leftover from making Guinness stew.

Hey Soks, Dude and anyone else

I wanted to let you know that we are going to try a "friends only" room  this week for the DD racing.  We want to see how it goes without the public coming in and out.  Plus, I'm tired of giving the damn "speech" to every new person.

FFKowalski or myself will have the room set up.

I have also asked FF to turn down the voice quality to see if it helps your connection issues.  If you have issues with his connection, we'll switch to my room to see if that helps.  We want ya around bud.  It's always a pleasure having you out with us!

I hope to see you tomorrow.

It was fun because I'm not taking things too seriously.  Just a chance to get out for some friendly racing with a beer or two.  There was some rough stuff that I would equate to people having too much to drink but there was also a fair bit of argy bargy.  Quite a few people were just barging their way through to make a pass.

I either was too drunk and forgot I saw you there 11 or you dropped in after. I am hoping for the latter. I would concur with your description though. It is very fun, but it can get a bit frustrating at times. It seems the more shots I have the less I give a shit about any of it and just roll at the rear though. I will add that I can back you up on tires if you chose to run below the max of racing soft. It is fun to go limbo. Sports soft cool, comfort soft. Wow holy cow, lets go.

Sorry guys.

We really do try to keep things civil, clean and respectable.

Some of the newer guys just don't know what we expect out of them.  I can't see all the infractions that occur on track.  I depend on the racers to police themselves.  If however, you guys have a problem with someone, call them out on it or send me a PM.  I WILL DEAL WITH IT, I promise.

Many, many guys have said that they love this room and enjoy coming back week after week.  That is the goal, but not at the expense of the good guys wanting to leave because of someone's error.

Also, all our buzz levels are different.  By the end of the night I'm shitty compared to the guy who just joined.  Just sumpin' to think about.

My hope is, that as time goes by we will have a dedicated group that can enjoy these Saturday drunk races.  We do have full rooms.  It's just a matter of getting the right people in them.

Anyway, I am sorry you didn't have a good time.  I hope it won't spoil it for you in the future.

Don't get me wrong Boston.  It is fun.  I've spent more time in your event over the last couple of weeks than I have spent in any sim over the past few months (sad I know).  I'm just saying there were a few people who weren't driving all that cleanly.  I expect people to misjudge braking and corners after drinking but there were some who were consistently barging into corners and pushing other cars out of the way.  Just something to keep in mind.  I wasn't concerned enough to mention anything while racing but at least one other of the racers was.

Funny thing. I received an Ipad Air today from my folks. There is no way I would have purchased this for myself, it is way too expensive and I did not feel I had any need for such a device. I have only had this useless thing for a few hours and I can see how useful it can be. That is a funny thing.

This racing is exciting and fun, though sometimes I strive for more flintstone tires. Lets have some fun.

Thanks for coming out Dude.  Been a while since we have had the pleasure of you in the room.

We now have a pretty solid group who know what the one damn rule is.  Trendy, J-balls, MoreNorthThanYou are a solid group that have made DD a ritual.

Glad to have them and very happy to see you again.

As far as the tire grades go, well, I want people to stay on the track.  I have found that grippier tires make for happier racers.  I leave it up to you guys to choose what you want to run.

Just have fun!

Soks, we all miss you at DD.

I have thought about how I can help on my end, room wise.  Sadly the room adjustments have not helped.

I hope that the upgrade helps you out, if you do indeed get it.  Like I said, we miss having you out with us.

We skipped last week for the first time since we started this 6 months ago.
I had the annual TT with my friends at my house.  By the end of the night, my G27 clamps were completly sheared off by one of my drunk friends.  Thankfully we had completed the TT and were just effing around in a truck in the dirt.
FFKowalski is machining a set of clamps out of aluminum for the repair.  That should secure the base.  Now they can yank the wheel off. :D

We, I, really do hope to see you Soks!

Hi guys,

Happy to let you know that I still host this each Saturday.  Anybody is welcome!

Phreak,  in no way, shape or form is this night of racing serious in the least.  It's for PURE FUN!  At the end of a long week, I look forward to many laughs and some good times.  These guys provide just that.

I have a few friends that come out only to this because they don't race a lot.  They feel comfortable not having to worry to much about serious racing and the occasional bump.

This is the speech I give to every new guy who enters the room.
"Hi Driver X, welcome to the room.  You saw the title of the room.  We are drinking.  We are driving.  We are trying to do it as clean as possible.  We understand that some bumping and rubbing is going to happen.  We have one rule.  If you bump someone off track, pull over and give the spot back, then continue on racing them.  Also, have a good time.  Cheers."

I usually fire up the room at 7:30-8:00 pm PST and it goes on long after midnight.  The format has stayed the same.  Vote on a track, race it 3 times. Vote for track, I adjust PP levels, race 3 times.   Rinse and repeat.  Drunks like racing tires but I am willing to run weaker tires with folks who want to (Dudetuna).

Come out, stay as long as you like.  Hope to see you guys sometime in the future.  Have a freshly stocked fridge ready :)

I love racing with everyone, but yes, I do tire the racing soft tires. I do plan on making it this Saturday (I think you caught me out a couple of weeks ago, I was ready and you had home TT. Someday I may make that evnet. I hope.) I certainly wouldn't mind a Drunks on Ice 3 race stint, you know some CS tires and low pp, hopefully a world track.

For sure though, I am planning on joining in this Saturday. Bring on the booze and friends.

Dude,

I dunno if I can spring CS tires on these guys.  I think that it's to much for some.   But, I do plan on making them run SS tires for the night.

Ill be on 7:30-8:00pm PST.  Hope to see ya.

I was more joking than anything else, come on Drunks on Ice! And you don't have to force everyone onto SS tires. I usually just throw the sports softs on myself and race around in the back for a few races. Hell I race around in back even with racing soft tires. :)

Wow, did I have a great time Saturday night and well into Sunday morning. Thanks everyone for some very fun racing. I paid a heavy price for so much booze though. I was completely useless all day Sunday.

See you next week. :)

Yes indeed good sir.  I am going to be hosting again.  Look for the room to open between 7:30 and 8:00pm PST.

Last week went surprisingly well.  I thought everyone did great with the sport tires.  It was a nice break from the RS tires.   So much so, that we will be visiting the SS tire warehouse again this week.

Look forward to seeing the usual crowd and some random drunks.

I wasn't aware of the sound issues.  i have only driven the Sierra time thingy since release of 1.12.   I hope it doesn't eff with the gang too much.

This might be a shitty night, but power through I will.

Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the Sierra timed rally. Loads of fun and got in my seat for some long spells.  Good fun.

You've all got alittle work to do though .... including badaboya, who is was at the top of my leaderboard in all 3 challenges.  ;)

I wanted to thank all of the folks who came out Saturday.  It was nice to see so many familiar faces.  Dude, Dakotan, Phreak, Charlie, just to name a few.

PD's new sound update hurt the evening for a few folks.  Hopefully they get that shit fixed ASAP.

Thanks again gents!

Thanks for hosting a fun one. I arrived a bit late for the Sports soft tires. I must have got lucky and did not have a single sound issue Saturday night. I did update my System to 4.65, other then that I didn't change a thing.

I'm not sure it did anything, it my be entirely unrelated. I had sound issues on Friday night did the update Saturday afternoon and had no sound issues Saturday night in Boston's race.

Just read through all the posts, I've been racing in the drunk room with you guys for about 6 weeks now, wish I'd known months ago! I so look forward to these Saturday night races, I can't begin to tell you how much fun I have. When I wake up Sunday afternoon, I usually can't recall any of the actual races, but I remember some of the great laughs we have and how much it hurts when vodka comes out of your nose from said laughter.

Boston is the one who led me here to SupaTunaGT, after speaking so highly of it last week. I'm just starting to check things out, but it looks like I'll fit right in here, and it's great to see a few names I already recognize from the DD room.

Boston, I didn't make it much later than you last week, but I gotta tell you, I will usually stay and keep the room going until there are only a couple of us left, somewhere around 6am EST or so, lol.

Welcome to the Tunaverse mate!

I tried to get in on the drunk racing saturday night, to no avail.  16/16 room at capacity for the entire hour that I tried to get in.  Was a bit frustrating as I had to get myself drunk a second time, just for the racing!  (since I had previously been drunk from noon-4).

So I got myself all drunk and wired (thank you 5 Hour Energy) and couldn't get in!  GD it >:(

Somebody tell me what time I need to show up in order to make it in the room, apparently 12:15 was too late  :(

Hey Wolf,
Sorry that you could not make it into the room.  Drunk Drivin' has become very popular in the past month or so.   Send me a FR when you get the chance.  I will boot a stranger to make room for friends.

I fire up the room around 8pm PST.  I was on for 5 1/2 hours Saturday and good times were had.

Only kicked my 4th or 5th person out Saturday.   After over 6 months of doing this, I think that's a great average. The guy entered and immediately started insulting several of us.  INSTA KICK.  I do not tolerate racism, disrespect, and general douchebaggery.

Always happy to have another solid racer sharing the track with us.  Come on in any time.

Also, thanks Dude, Biebs, Dakotan, FFKowalski, and the regular cast for a great night of racing and laughs.

Hey Guys.

Just joined your message board.

I too am glad I found y'all a few months ago and look forward to racing with y'all every week. As some of you know I also host a drunk room called FriNite Drunks on Fridays starting at 9 pm eastern time. I started it a little while after I met y'all and use the same format and rules as in the Saturday night drunk room but now I keep it friends only.

It has been a great success mostly because of y'all and I want to thank you.

Looking forward to racing tonight, as always. Raced for four hours last night until the ps3 froze, and I find that so frustrating! I had some really great races and wins, and although I lost the stats and all the tuning I did, it was still good times. Somehow the subject of BJs came up and someone said something about getting one while playing video games. I suggested we coin a name for getting a BJ whilst gaming and a few ideas where thrown around, someone said "up, down, up, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Start". While this drew lots of laughter we decided it was too long, so instead we decided it should be called the "Contra".  (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif)

If I remember to do so, we will be running a friends only DD this Saturday.

I need a break from things.  Like, giving the speech out to each new racer.

We have had full rooms the past few weeks and most of  the racers are already on my friends list.

I'll say this once again.  I cannot police the entire event.  I will not sit and watch people race, waiting to point out errors.  I hate the fact that Trendy has left the  room the past 2 weeks for being run off the track.   this disturbs me to no end.  This means I am NOT doing my job and others are not following the one damn rule.

Let's see how friends act together this weekend.

Let's see how friends act together this weekend.
First off, don't be so hard on yourself, you do a fantastic job as host. We were discussing this earlier tonight as a matter of fact.

I was chatting with Trendy and a bunch of the guys tonight, and I think that going to friends only is a good idea. Not only has the room been full to the point of having someone new pop in as soon as a spot is open, but it's also been full of mostly friends anyway.

I was also upset to see Trendy go and I went through all of the replays I saved Saturday night (I hope to get some photos uploaded at some point) just to see if I noticed any major issues with any drivers. I did notice a couple instances of lag issues where the driver lagging didn't know and ended up causing a wreck at the first turn, I know it's a pain in the arse, but the easiest solution for that is to do a quick driver count before each start-anyone who has less than the total should back out and try leaving the room and coming back.

This part I feel needs a disclaimer  (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif)
I am not the type of person to talk behind anyone's back, if I ever have an issue I would handle it with the person directly and privately. That being said, and after watching replays, I think that Klicker needs to go. I have had a few issues on track with him (at least once or twice per race night) and I have brought them up with him, but he still does the same things: making passes at the expense of the lead cars drive line (in situations where the lead car is clearly in the lead and has the line), going off the track and re-entering unsafely in traffic, backing up into traffic after a spin instead of waiting until clear, and of course knocking people off track and not stopping or apologizing (Which is who took Trendy out at Willow Springs). We all know about his loud mic also!!!

Trendy and I both talked about this earlier and we both have removed him from our friends list. As I said before, I have addressed my issues with Klicker directly, on too many occasions now. I am a humble guy, far from perfect and I make my fair share of mistakes, and I believe in giving everyone at least a second chance,, but in this case I do believe this would resolve a lot of the issues on track.

On a lighter note, I planned on getting on yesterday to say what a great time we had Saturday night, but we kept the drunk room going til 5:30am EST and I didn't get much of anything done. I woke up in time to see the Steelers get trounced and went back to bed, lol. Other than Trendy getting run off, which absolutely did suck, it was a really fun night with some good racing throughout. If everyone just remembers to go a little easy through the first few turns, they'll see how much more fun the rest of the race will be for everyone. We've all seen that you can have some really great battles with a full room without even being in contention for the lead. I remember reading through the old posts that you used to do friends only and now that it's getting colder out and more people are on I think this is definitely the way to go. This room is what it is because you're a great host!

Dude, I saw him put you into the wall before the straight at Bathurst on Friday night, and then you left the room after the race. I just assumed that was why you left :( I sat out the Bathurst race b/c of him specifically and I know that wasn't the only time in that race he got into you. Kudos to you for handling it better than I would have, lol, you just said "thanks for the race" and left.

I am with you, I don't like handling anyone that way, but it's just like bathing: unfortunately we have to do it sometimes  (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif)

Thanks for coming out last night gents!

My PS did a hard freeze late on.  Opted to call it a night a little early.  I hope you all had as much fun as I did.

Trendy we will get to race the bus soon.  I just want to make sure everyone has one first.
Buy a VW Samba Bus.  oil change it, paint it, put some pretty wheels on it and slap every part you can on it.  Let's get the message out and we'll do it in a week or two.

I am also considering a 3 car race like we had in GT Prologue.  For example: the Ferrari F430 vs the Chevy Vette vs the Nissan GT-R.  All stock form.  Pick your weapon, and drive with the hope that Ferrari drivers team up with Ferrari drivers, Vette with Vettes, etc.  Which manufacture wins the night?  Details in the future.

Friends room only seemed to work well.  Didn't get the full rooms, but the racing was better.  We'll continue this trend for a couple more weeks.

Cheers

I'm ready and excited for another weekend of drinking and racing, woohoo!

Boston77Bruins, I thought the friends only room went very well indeed. I found out afterwards there were a couple guys who couldn't find the room, but didn't message me b/c they didn't want to be a bother. I told them it's never a bother and to always ask because they are always welcome! I have a keyboard hooked into the ps3 just so I can quickly pm or reply to someone, lol.

TrendyTuna, I don't think I've said it before, but thank you for hosting the Friday night drinking room, I look just as forward to hanging out with the boys on Friday as I do on Saturday, we always have a great time and you do a great job as host!

See you guys on the track this weekend, time to go find some more off the wall cars to buy :)

Thanks to all that came out.  The Sony PS Notwork forced my early retirement.

These hard freezes are really starting to piss me off.  It was very rare that it would happen.  This past week, I have been plagued by them.

Perhaps I pissed FFkowalski off and that's the reason you guys don't see him like you did in the past.  I dunno?  Bomb his mailbox!

Thanks again.

I had intentions of racing with you guys last weekend.  I took care of the multiple downloads on Friday night and worked on the installs overnight.  I never was able to fully install all the downloads because of some error message.  Spend all day and night Saturday trying, resetting the PS3 over and over and over, but it kept getting hung up at roughly the same spot.  Currently, it seems I'm unable to play the game because as soon as I start the game, it wants to finish the install.

I hadn't been online since February and haven't done a back up in too long to remember...is there a way to fix this installation problem?

Okay, I'm drunk and ready. Sorry to hear of your PS3 / GT6 issues Rick. I see You are not alone. Hopefully you get those problems resolved and you can enjoy some growlers with racing tonight.

Bruins game has 2 minutes left in it.  Gonna fire it up soon after.

Runs to grab beer.

Thank you one and all.

Once the Playstation NOTwork  settled itself out, the racing was great.

The rare and elusive FFKowalski was sighted.  Many thought the species went extinct, but new evidence supports the existence of this loner species.  NatGeo has been sent out to document this event.  Some say he's a myth like Bigfoot or Mothman.  Others swear he's real.  All I know is, myth or fact, it was good to race him again.

Sorry I had to leave early.  Work called.  An employees cat was HBC (hit by car) and we went into work to try and save its life.  We failed.  Bless ya Harley cat. :'(

Thank you again for the races and most importantly, the laughs.  I smile a lot on Saturdays!

Public room vs friends only room? Personally I like the two weeks we ran of friends only much better. Like I said a couple weeks ago, I'd rather have 12 people I know racing than have a full room with a couple strangers. I have another reason for being in favor of the friends only room: The connection/visibility issues  >:(

There were three or four people I could not see all night, no matter how many times I leave and clear the cache - it does no good at all if they don't also leave and try the same thing. I was getting very frustrated Saturday night b/c of the Europeans coming in (knowing full well it is early morning for them and are all sober), running one very fast car over and over and winning every race, and to top it off I can't even see them because of their connections and lag time due to being on a different continent. Yes, I know that sounds a little racist, but I had no issues like these the two weeks we ran friends only.

Thanks, Dude! I always enjoy racing and chatting with you, sorry for being such a know-it-all, I think it gets worse when I'm drinking. I know I talk (alot!), but I'm also pretty humble and don't mind being corrected or even told to shut up, lol.

In support of friends only, I have my keyboard connected to the ps3 on Saturday nights and I have no problem messaging folks to come join us and will do whatever it takes to promote the room and get it full as possible (I am not above giving wet willys and indian burns).  :laugh

I agree with Biebs.

Racing Saturday nights in a Friends Only room has been way better. I have stopped having a pubic room for my FriNite Drunks room about 6 weeks ago and the racing has much improved.

I know both rooms were built on being pubic, but when you find a bunch of cool people that are also good clean racers, no need to be pubic anymore.

Public or private?  Each has there advantages.

I credit the public rooms for the 25 plus friends I've added because of DD night.  I filtered through the junk and found a few gems.  Maybe I've been lucky.  Thanks again for joining in and coming back week after week.

I credit the private rooms for the knowledge that I'm gonna get good clean racing from everyone all night long. (L. Richie just popped into my head).  Plus, no speech needs to be given. :)

I'm for keeping it a friends only room for a few weeks.  The room will get full eventually.  And if it doesn't, I'll get drunk enough that I'll see a full grid. :laugh

I have not get gotten things sorted out on my end.  Work and being a dad have kept me busy the last couple weeks (archery might be my new favorite sport).  My 10-year old has an archery tournament on Saturday but after I'll have the day to myself and will try to get back online then.

(http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif) I know what you mean though, if it wasn't for the Saturday night DD room being public, I would have never found you guys. If I do a public room during the week and meet cool people then I try to advertise our Friday and Saturday night rooms. Of course that means they need to FR Boston and Trendy - if this happens I will send you a guys a heads up, like "so and so should be sending you a FR because I told them to".

I just cannot get the downloads to install.  Once I fire up the PS3 and click on the game, it immediately begins the install process.  I cannot click any of the buttons to cancel or stop the install.  It installs for about 15 minutes with the yellow light flickering the whole time like it's supposed to.  Eventually, I get an error message and am unable to click on ok.  The only thing I can do is hit the PS button and quit the game, at which point all I can do is repeat the entire process.

hey Rick, its been suggested doing the updates from the XMB rather than ingame. Just hover over the game icon and press the triangle button to get "options". Some have had more success this way. Good luck

I've tried that and it says I'm current on updates.  If I delete the game from the PS3 and load the disc, will that accomplish anything?

Glad you had a good time, BakedTuna.

What happened Saturday night after Boston opened his drunk room?

I got a chance to race in FFKowalski's pre drunk room with some regulars and it was fun as always, but I was just too tired (From drinking for most of the day long story  :laugh ) to continue to race once Boston opened his room so I have no idea. I did get a PM from Boston on PS3 saying he will not be doing a drunk room for the next few Saturdays but not sure why.

I'll give the brief run down of the haps without naming.

The racing was fine early.  Then, slowly it started to get rougher and rougher.  Close to the end I was taken out twice in one race.  I did not get an "I'm sorry Boston", or the 'pull over give the spot back' response.  Nothing.  After that same race a few talked about the rough racing they had.

I'm a pretty quiet and mello guy but I said something to the effect of "lets not have a fucking repeat of last race.  Remember the one fucking rule I have. You all know it.  It's one fucking rule!"

And what happens next race???  You guessed it, a repeat.  That sent 4 good, long timers out the door for the night.  "Just to rough" they said.  I bid my goodnight shortly after.

I get pissed when 4 great racers leave the room because of the actions of a few who cant or wont respect others.  Unacceptable.  I don't want my room to turn out like that.  It wont turn out like that.

All is well.  I was in a really foul mood on Saturday and I didn't want that to spill over onto you guys.  I chose not to race.

However, I did set up the DD room in the club so anyone could start it up without the host being around.  Maybe the poor showing was the restrictions I put in place.  I asked for street cars only.  No race cars.  Perhaps that's the reason.  I dunno.

I should be ready for some DD this coming Saturday.  Still working on what I want to do to change things up.  I might do the street cars only thing again.

If I don't make it, the club will be set up for anyone to start it.  I set my room up for an 8pm PST start and end it at 3AM PST.  Anyone should be able to jump in and race right???  I'm still trying to figure out what we can and cannot do in these clubs.

I was very close to using your setup in the club, (I even pm'd you about doing such) but using the club setup restricts the track choice to just that one.

I was disappointed it didn't happen, but it's more important we all have fun. :)

Thanks Dude, I still don't know all the in's and out's of the club.  So, we cannot change the track once the room is set up???  That sucks.

Is the best option to use the old way?  Set up a public or private room and race?  Kinda defeats the purpose of the club doesn't it?

Anyway, thank you for the heads up.  I guess I'll just post the event details in the club and race like we always have.

I apologize to the guys who hung out on Saturday. I got shitty by 11:00 and had to bail.  Drinking a sixer of 8.7% will do that to one.

I don't know what to do.

The previous Saturday I had made the room public.  It was the worst night I have had in a very very long time.  I kicked several people out that night.

Last Saturday I made it a friend only room.  My hope was it would allow good times to be had all night.  I guess not :(

If we cannot police ourselves then....well fuck, I don't know.  I guess I'll stop hosting and go look for clean racing elsewhere.

Sorry Trendy.  i never want this to happen to the good guys.  If it continues, the good guys don't show up anymore.  It's a lose lose situation.

I do not normally road rage, but when I do........

Upon further reflection I believe I was rather brutal to someone. It was done as a retaliation for something done to myself and others,  and after I did it I immediately regretted it.

I do hope you will continue to host these Boston.

It's all good, Dude.

Shit happens.

Last night was a good night of racing except for all the server problems we encountered, but that is on Sony.

I will truly be sad if you Boston stopped your Saturday night drunk room. I might get frustrated at times with the way things go, but we all are drinking so shit is going to happen. We all (Including myself) just need to chill out more on Friday and Saturday night drunk racing.

A lot of clean close races.
