Title: WRC4
Post by: badaboya1 on September 20, 2014, 01:29:24 PM
I've been thinking of getting this game for awhile after seeing sweeteggs playing it a lot lately.
Was going to ask him about it but I noticed that racing games are on sale this weekend.
Regular price is 40$ but it's on sale for 16$ this weekend. Downloading now.

Just thought I would post this in case anyone is interested and didn't notice the sale.

I've always wondered if these games are any good.  Anyone ever try one?

I had one many years ago. Was absolutely a great teaching tool because if you fucked up a line there was no easy fix so I learned to be more diligent in my efforts.

I enjoyed the shit out of Tourist Trophy back in the day.

I wish PD would release another.

Against my judgment (good or bad), I decided to splurge on WRC4.  I may have to hold off on downloading the game until I know if I have enough bandwidth cap left for the remainder of the month.  Darn it, can't play the game yet.

badaboya, how do you like WRC4?

It seems ok for the little I've played it.
The graphics are a little old fashioned but it 's pretty challenging.
AI strength can be turned up or down for single player.
Some of us are planning to try out the online portion tonight.

Overall I doubt it would take over as anybodies favorite, but for 16$ it's not bad.

Got online with agent & mondo.
It was a lot of fun. Other cars are ghosted and they disappear when you get really close.
Lots of options for setting the rooms up.

Bada got comfortable with the physics  pretty quick ... he was fast.  Mondo and I traded lefts when
we should have been turning right.  ^-^  Trees in the wrong place; boulders laying out at apex's; log piles left too close to the line ---- Felt like I hit every one of them.  :laugh

Host tools for the room seem to be good.  We ran a couple of 10 race WRC Championships.  Weather, damage and format all changeable.  Can only talk in the main lounge tho.  Quite a few options for car setup.  Points for placing, and more points for running green sectors.  Totals are kept when returning to main lounge. Venue and Track choices are plentiful ..... but I hope not to see Finland again.

Good fun .... hope to do it again!

Also .... the option to remove 900 degree steering is priceless. With it ... 4-5 consecutive hairpin turns needs a suicide wheel.  Not to mention a chiropractor to untangle your arms.

Thanks for the updates!  I can't wait to get the game downloaded and installed.  (However, I think my rally car will mostly be wrapping around the trees or swimming in the ditches.)

Finally downloaded the game and started the career.  The game is fun.  So far, my only gripe is that the force feedback is disappointing....Same feeling for tarmac, gravel and snow/ice.  I thought this game came out in 2013/2014?  Even my RC2K from late 90s on PC felt better on different road surface.

In terms of the 900 deg wheel...I disabled it but it did not work, I have to use the specific button sequence to change the lock-to-lock on my G27 to 450 deg.

Have not tried the online multiplayer.  Let me know if you guys are setting up a race sometimes.

Thanks for the invitation.  I had a blast tonight.  The WRC cars are a bit too powerful for this WRC4 noob.   :D

Thanks for coming out Numb! Online can handle to 16 players .... so the more the merrier.  Yeah, the WRC's are real quick .... personally I like the WRC2's.  ;D

Your lucky you didnt have to go to Finland your first time out .... a torturous venue that I never fail to limp across the line with a destroyed car.  :laugh
