Title: Raceroom Racing Experience
Post by: Wiz on February 27, 2015, 12:40:55 PM
Have to admit this game looks the part.  Has the best sounds in the business too.

I'm probably going to buy the DTM pack this weekend and I'll post back with my impressions.

don't you have to buy the tracks also? I had it but deleted it a year ago or so. I did purchase a couple cars at that time.

Some of the packs come with both cars & tracks.

For example the $30 DTM 2014 pack comes with the following...

Cars:

Audi DTM
Mercedes GTM
BMW DTM

Tracks:

Zandvoort
Eurospeedway Lausitz
Red Bull Ring
Hungaroring
Moscow Raceway
Hockenheimring
Nurburgring
Norisring
Oschersleben

$30 is a little steep for that but not too outrageous I don't think.

wow that's an impressive video!

something little, but did you notice how detailed the driver hand animations are?  Watch for the subtle thumb movements when he shifts...

Assuming that was a human driver, they had to work hard and be patient for every pass.

The driver you see is a person.  It fooled me at first too.

It's probably one of the best FOV videos I've ever seen.

no kidding!  The lighting from the game is so good, and the lighting they chose for the room was close enough that there was no aesthetic reason to question it was part of the game!

The physics seems pretty close to AC, judging from types of inputs that he had to do...  not that we have Bathurst...

They sometimes do cool shit like this too....   A chance to race with real DTM drivers.

Ok so I'm a little drunk right now so I might change my mind but as of right now I have to say this game kinda sucks.  I bought the DTM 2014 pack and so far I'm not impressed.  The cars & tracks look good, but the FFB and physics feel like shit.

weird that it wouldn't drive better... try again when you are sober and your verdict will probably decide for me...

I notice he said a little drunk he probably had one Shirley Temple and it went straight to his head. You want to see some drunk writing, (I would not call it good) go back to my recent post about you hunting animals. Now that was some drunk writing.   ^-^  (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif)

Every time I glance at this thread I think it says "Restroom Racing Experience" which I'm sure is something entirely different than what y'all are talking about.

With the latest update, you can race 99 cars at the Ring, and 49 cars at Spa...The AI is hopeless at the first turn.. bunching, but a blast once they get sorted.
I only raced 49 cars at both tracks, started at the back with the difficulty factor turned down, just to try overtaking that many cars. :)

It is... especially when the AI are racing each other, taking different lines, overtaking, 2 and 3 wide at times.

This is the best game that nobody is playing.  I've been playing more & more lately.

Have you been playing this Pete?  If so, have you checked out SRS?  http://www.simracingsystem.com/

Online races that go off every hour.

Hey Wiz, I agree, that RRE is the best game as far as variety and adaptive AI.
I jump into the rig now and again for a quick AI race in RRE, AC, but I'm spending more time driving American Truck Sim, and Euro TS, more my speed these days ;)

Do they have VR support? I seem to recall that they had really bad triple screen support. That doesn't matter to me as I don't have my triple screens setup anymore.

It's not a great time to get into pc gaming. People have been using high end graphics cards for cryptocurrency mining and have been driving up prices. Memory prices are also relatively high. Slightly lower end graphics cards such as an Nvidia 1050 don't seem to be as badly priced (they aren't as good at mining cryptocurrency). Surprisingly, gaming laptops have not been hit as hard either. The new nvidia mobile graphics cards are essentially as fast as the desktop equivalent.
