Any racing going on tonight?

MS

We've talked about expanding but currently Wednesdays are vacant...   (should be a hump day Evnet, huh?)

I usually am in my lounge on Wednesdays (with my bud, NinjaTuna - unfortunately he's outta town this week).

But I will still be in there HSRing around trying to pick a "street racer" for someone's upcoming Evnet...

Ok then, well that settles it. The HSRR Lounge will be open tonight (if the PSN lets us). I want to give that Delorean a try.   :)

I did some testing in my Lounge and hung out in Reject's open lobby for a while. It was fun. I liked my Supra SZ-R, 330i, 190 Evo II, RX8, and 350Z.

BMW Z4 M FTW! 1:10.5xx clean and 1:09's in the draft.

Also, it's a sexy mofo.

Yeah that Z4 M Coupe was awesome last night, the M Coupe is one of my prefered BMW body styles.  I might have to try out the older model one tonight, see how that goes.

Damn Sniper, the RX8 have me about 1'11.250. Are you talking about the Z4 M Coupe '08, or the lousy Z4 '03? The Supra and 330i got me mid 11s also, but they required more practice. The RX8 gave me good laps almost instantly. Also, concensus is that the 190 Evo II is very good for an older car. It can keep up with my other cars. So can the Nissan 350Z GT4 Ltd Ed, even though hp was pushed down to 250 to make the 450pp limit.

Yeah, the '08 model is the one I ran last night. I didn't expect it to be that fast and it doesn't feel like a rocketship, but the thing can corner great. I never got a chance to run the 135i, so it is next on the list. I have also been wanting to test drive that new Toyota FT-86 (?).

Ditto. I need to try that car. Might be fun one night to have Z4 night, and all come out to the track in our favorite colored Z4.   :)

In the meantime, I think I have my S2000 as competitive as I can get it. It won't pull away from anyone. But it corners well and can hang in the draft waiting for the kill on the final turn with the best of them.

I think that's something I need to do, try and focus on just a few cars and get them really set up properly.  Though I am having fun trying out all the different rides, in a pinch I'd probably say I've narrowed it down to that white Nissan Primera I had out in the last race, the DeLorean and an Alfa Romeo GT something as my current "best" choices though I did take out a lilac / black Mazda Atenza that seems like a good contender too.

For some reason I seem to be heading down the FF route, which is a surprise to me as I used to not like driving them all that much.  I think that's the beauty of this event though, because of the power / weight / pp restrictions it makes all the drivetrains pretty even (besides the few MR cars we found of course) so even some of the gimpy little FF cars I've been running have held up well :).

Yeah, I'll have a go-to car, and a set of options when I want something different.

But before you make the final decision on a primary car, I have a suggestion. Do a thirty lap race in your own Lounge and watch the tire wear. Try your best to control your entry speed into the corners, run clean lines, avoid spins and focus on fast exits. Drive as clean as possible. And look at how your tires do. Because this could potentially be a big liability in a longer race. In the shorter ones, I'm happy to pull out the FF cars. In a longer race, it's probably a good idea to have a car that goes easy on the tires as an option.

Just a thought.

This is a lot of fun. The Z4 M is a sweet ride, I could only manage 1'11.0xx in free run so far though.
Other cars and time to find. :)

I think it just popped up a few hours ago.  Along with a new section specifically for the Drive-In.

Sorry for any confusion...  I thought I left a breadcrumb in the Online Event thread when I moved this post.

I created this area based on a suggestion I received.

Hating empty boards (and remembering this thread), I ran and moved it to here...

This will be a place to put up any match/pickup type races you might set up...

Japan GT Racing cars, like the Castrol Toms Supra or the Arta Garaiya

GT500, have around 500hp and weight around 1100kg: Supra, NSX, GT-R, Z, SC430
GT300, have around 300hp and weight around 1100kg: RX7, Impreza, Garaiya, IS350, Celica, MR-S, Silvia

(link to Brindle's event thread) (http://www.supatunagt.com/smf/index.php?topic=208.0)

But you already found it, so this is useless...to you.

If it means anything, I found it quite useful.

My intention was to find out what the dynamics are of a thread like this because I haven't seen any like it, really. I am glad to see the reaction to reviving this one thread, too.

The forum is made for anyone who wants to experiment, just do a few pick-up races, do personal challenges, or to allow someone to develop interest in a new series. For that matter, you could also run pick-up races from games other than GT, too. That sort of idea.

I am personally struggling to find time to race on-line, so this may help me out, as well.

OK.  The cat's out of the bag...  It was MasterGT's suggestion and a damn good one I thought.
:think

I remember we used to have similar threads for spur of the moment get-together's - didn't Dude have one or two (maybe over at STVM) - and it seemed like a mucho bueno idea.  I figure we can post a thread on days we wanna run some just for the hell of it.  (e.g. "Whoa.  I have the afternoon off today, wonder if anyone's racing?  Let me post and see.")

Just seemed like such a cool and :fuck ing useful idea - plus I couldn't resist having the section title (also inspiration from the Master)...  :2tu
