Typical Tuna side bar here, my shifter support was plywood recently I made a change to a particle board and it seems to be tons better. Granted it is now an inch thick and has a nice laminate on it as well. It was the top to either a desk or table from a former office building. Will let you know if it becomes a problem. Actually considering doing the steering wheel shelf in the stuff as well.

Thanks Guys!!! here is what my buddy and i have been working on.

nice setup, but what's behind door #2?
(don't tell me if you'd have to kill us)

wish I had some friends locally who play GT.  my only friend who was not a boxhead and got a ps3 after his box died around the same time as mine did, has since given up gaming entirely after getting too serious about Street Fighter type games and not doing much else.

just makes me appreciate digital friends like you guys all the more! 8) :-*

Hahaha, its an odd quirk of the place i am renting, its like a tv/entertainment center box...its just used for storage of crap i don't wanna look at lol.

and awww thx!

If anyone is interested, i have the schematics for the pvc construction including dimensions, and the types of pipe fittings that are needed. We used Schedule 40 PVC, and it feels plenty sturdy.

On a related note: As much as i love driving, in recent years it has been causing me intense, and sometimes unbearable pain in my right knee (most likely tendonitis). I always had a feeling like this was due to my driving setup, but i really had no other options at the time. Since using this rig, i have been able to drive for extended periods of time with little to no aggravation of the knee. I am thoroughly enjoying sim driving again :)
