Did anyone else "Hybrid" back in the day?
« on: May 08, 2012, 07:44:40 PM »

There was a program way back when that would let you manipulate Gran Tursimo 3 cars in every possible way.  It was call GT3gEdit.  You could interchange parts between every car in the game, multiply tuning parameters by ridiculous numbers, all sorts of shit.  You could even max out the downforce to some crazy number like 5000 so your car would stick to the road no matter how fast you were going.

Here's some youtube vids I found so y'all can see what I'm talking about...

The Gran Turismo Genome Project

Gran Turismo Hybrid Blitzwagon @ Midfield - 29.410 - Max E.

GT40 Hybrid

Gran Turismo 3 Acura 0-1000m

I had a ZZII that would lap Deep Forest in about 40 seconds.  A Mitsubishi that would top 3000 mph at the test course.  A Toyota set up similar to that last vid which if I recall correctly had around 30,000 horsepower and would get to around 1000 mph in the 1000 meter run.

With no online play back then this was a fun way to enjoy the game for a little while longer after completion.

Watching all the youtube vids I found was a nice trip down memory lane.  :)

So, did anyone else "hybrid"?

Never heard of that before. I do remember there being a funky tune you could put on some cars, that would make them ride a wheelie, and do 1300+mph at the Test Course.

Gran Turismo 3 Acura 0-1000m

In the words of James May: "Buffeting, buffeting"

I've never heard of this. It's insane. As rock solid as GT5 is, I'm kinda surprised we haven't seen similar things now.

It was possible in GT2 & GT4 as well.  Though I think both were a little more restricted with what was possible.

There's a few guys over at GTP that are working on cracking GT5 to make this possible but I don't think they're going to get anywhere.  It's a lot tougher to "crack" the code.  On top of that you'd need to have a jailbroken PS3.

Right now I'm trying to find some of my old memory cards to see if I still have any of my hybrid stuff.

I had to laugh at the Camber on the one car in Vid one, LOL.  I remember that there was a disc you could buy that came along with a mem card called "Action Replay Max" that would allow one to alter all kinds of video games back in the day.  In GT4, you could get all kinds of bonuses and features, including "big wheels" and Massive horsepower.   A friend of mine had one of those game altering discs and we had some fun with his games, but I didn't use it on any of mine.   It's just a different way of amusing one's self I suppose......I have other methods :palm  :nono  wait, I didn't mean to infer.......
