No "ABS" Workout!
« on: May 22, 2012, 05:34:58 AM »

That was fun as hell last night guys, especially once I went to 515.  Good idea Allstar!   ::)  We have to do this again some time.  I learned a lot last night and kept improving.

P.S.  Charlie was in love with his car last night.  Almost needed to get his own room.   ;)

Thanks guys...  That was fun!!!

I'm considering throwing that legislation into a short endurance at some point in the future.

I enjoyed the No ABS workout myself. Liked the two race then switch tracks thing as well. And the whole Charlie and his car thing, not sure but did he give it a name last night :laugh Pretty sure I heard him say to the car "I'm going to park you in front of the most extravagant Motel 6 you ever seen"  Where they will keep a dash light on for you! :lolz

First time I've driven without any ABS, fortunately from previous conversations with Allstar I had an idea about how to handle it in terms of setting my brake bias (yes, Allstar actually gave me some useful advice even if it was unintended ;D ), had a blast driving the Lexus IS350 WedsSport car.  Turned out it wasn't nearly as difficult as I was expecting though I think that might have been down to my settings, it did take a bit of time to get used to it but it was a lot of fun!

For anyone that was wondering I had my brake bias set to 3 Front, 1 Rear and it worked quite well using a DS3 controller with thumbsticks.

Expect to see a repeat of last night at a Drive-In in the very near future...   That was :fucking FUN!!!

FYI...  Car was stock.  Brakes were 0/0.  LSD 5/40/40.  Stock gearing (just moved FD).  Moved the engine slider as it gained pp...

Stepper ran a TuTu a couple weeks ago with no ABS, and it was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, very few people attended, so it didn't get the exposure it should have.

I look forward to doing something like that again.

After last nights reception, I have had thoughts of a "Workout Wednesday".  At least until the next Wednesday night series.

The wife has some shows she likes to watch on Wednesdays, so that usually keeps me from racing then. Got to compromise with her. She doesn't give me too much lip, even though I'm racing most of the time at least 4 nights a week.

I took the Leaf out, to do some non-ABS testing.

You have to work the braking sensitivity, but I also need to learn how to use the brake pedal all over again. I either had too much braking (locked up) or I went through the outside.

I did a 35 lap La Sarthe enduro in a Class C car with no ABS. It was surprisingly manageable with some brake bias adjustments and of course new braking points. It only locked up if you pushed the pedal too hard going slow
