TuTu August 14 2012 - Bracket Drag Racing
« on: August 09, 2012, 09:33:23 AM »

Bracket racing is back. This time it will be on the drag strip. Details below.

Car: American (or quasi-American) Muscle Cars (list below)

Setup: Unlimited at 515pp

Restrictions:
PP - 515
Tires - Open
Tuning - Open
Lounge: TuTuTuna
Where: Route X

Rules: 1/4 drag races beginning at the 1000m mark on the front stretch (the ones with the pits). Race ends at the 1400m line. I'm not asking people to "sign up" (although it would be super helpful). The bracket stuff begins at 8:30 eastern.. BUT! don't fret West Coasters, these races will take about 10 seconds so even if you can't make 8:30, we will find a place in the order of things when you do show up. This is TuTu and we are accommodating - Arrive And Drive. Also, if you feel like it, you may enter multiple cars... this will be a headache on my end keeping track of it, but whatever. Chances are, once the first bracket has been completed it will turn to hooliganism... which is fine.

Racing will take place in Free Run mode and everyone is expected to be on track for the races (unless you need to switch cars). Those cars not racing will need to be judges. There will be a judge on both sides of the racing lanes. One will be in the far left lane, and the other in the apron area to the right. RACES WILL BE RUN IN THE RIGHT TWO LANES ON TRACK. Straying from your lane will results in a loss. Judges need to be in a position so that they can see the start or finish line. One on each side of each line. Those at the starting line will need to make sure no one is lined up over the line and no one false starts. Those at the finish are required to determine who wins. Even if its really close. There are no prizes, sorry. Start times will be announced when two cars are stages (on the timer in the upper right corner). When it hits that time, go. Winner advances. Loser still gets to race.

Eligible Cars:

1971 Dodge Super Bee 426 Hemi
1971 Ford Mustang Mach I
1971 Plymouth Cuda 440 Six Pack
1970 Chevy Chevelle SS 454
1970 Dodge Challenger R/T
1970 Dodge Charger 440 R/T
1970 Plymouth Superbird
1969 Chevy Camaro SS
1969 Chevy Camaro Z28
1969 Chevy Corvette Convertible
1969 Chevy Corvette Stingray L46 350
1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7
1966 AC 427 S/C
1966 Shelby Cobra 427
1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Chrome Line
1965 Shelby GT350R
1964 Pontiac Tempest Le Mans GTO
1963 Chevy Corvette Coupe

Could I make a request that the Jenson Interceptor be added to the list of cars please?  It's a big, heavy car with a Chrysler (I think) power plant and fits in nicely with the other bigger American muscle cars IMO :).

I thought it was a corvette engine....

Research time.

You are right, that show I strolled through the middle of the other day was wrong.

That last race with the 'Cuda...

I've never seen anything like it with the transmission... the redline was 6000 but if it got over 5500 it would decelerate as the revs increased. I had to shortshift at 5500... which was throwing me.

I knew Nash Bridges couldn't let me down but it did.

I was trying to be as wide (and as annoying) as possible. The top speed was set to 180 something but I could barely do 150... so I knew I was toast on the straight... which was why I was weaving to avoid Grill who could do 170+ sans draft. When I tried to pop in front of him for a boost, he had such a run that my revs shot to to the limit displayed on screen (like 9000 or something) and the car just went balls to the wall and started spinning.

Thanks for the fun you three. I shoulda known that trying something like bracket racing would've backfired... which I'll remember for the next time (which won't exist).
