4/8/13 9pm EST - Sign And Drive Event #1
« on: April 05, 2013, 01:33:37 PM »

Ladies and gentlemen,

If you're like me, come Monday, you spent way to much time in the hot tub sipping that fine Courvoisier and pimpin with the ladies.  :jimi:

And now you have to go to work? You KNOWWW that ain't right. So when you get home from a hard day at the office, come home and put on your comfy slippers and join me in the Pubic Lounge (pun intended) for some laid back, easy racin'.

The Time
======

Monday 4/8/13 - 9pm EST / 8pm CST/ 7pm MST / 6PM PST

The Rules
======

We don't need no stinkin' rules. Just be nice to the other drivers (drive clean), especially ... the LADIES.

The Car
=====

'07 NC Mazda Miata (the one from the new dealership).

Modifications
========

Pimp the hell outta her, you know I will. But no performance enhancin' stuff now, cause she comes fly straight from the dealer. (No Mods, tuning will be turned off.)

PP
==

Unlimited PP. Oh yeah, go big or go home. That's how the ladies man does it. Bet my PP's bigger than your PP.  (Ummm, feel free to break it in and give it an oil change, or just buy it brand new and break it in on the track. If it concerns you, BSpec is your friend. But no worries, the car will be competitive straight from the dealer with no changes. Sign the papers at the dealer, drive it to the track and race ... that's why it's called Sign and Drive.)

Tires
===

Now normally I'd put some solid gold 48s on that sled and be pullin' honeys all over town. But money's tight these days. We'll roll with what we got (OEM tires, Comfort Soft).

Tracks
====

1. High Speed Ring / Reverse (Line those ladies four wide into banked turn #1!!)

2. Laguna Seca (Mazda's home turf)

Then basically whatever the ladies want.  8)

That's it. Just grab a car and go. If you don't have one that you haven't modified, they don't cost much. Simply buy a new one for the race, change the oil and sell it if you want when you're done. Or if you have one that you've already broken in, just make sure you set all the settings back to stock and put the Comfort Soft tires on her. Then lets race. (you may want to save your current tuning settings to one of the A, B or C slots.)

Oh, and one comment about the open lounge. I realize this will scare off a few folks, hopefully not all. But I want to assure everyone that I'll be sitting out many of the races to watch the folks we don't already know. If I see any monkey business from any of the non-Tunas, I will boot them immediately. Also, I trust all of you to be fair and objective with incidents on the track. So if you tell me that someone needs to go, there will be no debate about it, they'll be gone. I'll be telling the new guys this over and over so they know what's expected of them and who on the track is a Tuna that they should definitely NOT mess with or risk the boot. If you want someone booted, either tell me over your mic or type "TheirName X" and I'll know what you mean. But remember, we're doing this out in the public lounge to spread the good word about SupaTunaGT.com. So lets try not to be jerks about it, give people the benefit of the doubt.

Hope to see some of you guys on the track on Monday.

The fine folks over at Vorshlag Motorsports got some photos of the Miata coming out of turn 11 onto the front straight:

I want to thank everyone who stopped by for a race or two. Goos times indeed. If there is interest in doing this on a regular basis, I could throw something together for next week, like S2000's at Suzuka / Tsukuba or something? Suggestions welcome.

No sweat Feld, sorry I missed you. I had been up way too late the night before and really needed a good night's sleep, so I rolled out a little early.

I must say, that car on stock tires is not bad. They did a remarkable job of modeling that car. I found most of the night that if I went into a corner to fast it would begin slide but in a predictable way. Then to some degree I could induce oversteer or understeer with throttle adjustments or slight braking very much like the real thing.

As for the open lounge experiment, I give it a B+. We had the room all to ourselves all night long without any issues from other drivers since there were no other drivers. The only negative thing that happened was that Derek from TrackJunkies.org got disconnected and could not get back into the room. Not sure what the problem was there, probably something to do with the PSN stability.
