Memory question
« on: May 17, 2014, 01:27:57 PM »

My friend TeamFirstKnuckle has a 12gig PS3.  Yesterday when he turned on GT6 he was told to do the update.  He started to and then a message popped up saying he is short of memory.

I have asked him to delete all non GT6 related items and he is still short by almost 200mb.

My question(s) are, does GT6 take that much memory?  What can he do other than upgrading HD's?  Does the PS3 offer cloud where he can store his data in that?

Thanks for the tips/advice.

I wouldn't be surprised.  I think there is an option to not install the game.  He could try that.  I didn't know that they made 12GB PS3s.  Did he make sure that he deleted all videos, playstation home stuff and game data from other games?  I would guess that the 12GB is flash memory.  If it has a HD slot, it should be pretty painless to plop a new 2.5" hdd in there.

This is the first that I have heard of this problem, so I have asked for more help.

I did a quick search and found that you can add an HD but you have to buy Sony's special adaptor.  That sounded scary until I found out that the special adaptor costs $10.  Any 2.5" hd or sd will work.

if he can do a solid state, I'd highly recommend it.  Don't have one for my PS3 but I wish I did...
