GT6 fatal glitch?
« on: September 16, 2014, 03:37:42 PM »

Ok, I'm having a.... very irritating glitch with my copy of GT6. It all started about a couple of weeks ago. I just got done watching my DVD copy of Godzilla vs. Biollante on my PS3. I got bored so I put in GT6. I tried hosting my typical voice chat enabled room and that wouldn't load up. When I discovered it was a voice chat enabled room glitch I first thought "No big deal." but I missed talking so I deleted my game save data and tried reinstalling the updates. Well the XMB updates load up fine, but the GT6 updates.... or hotfixes, give me a failure to update installation process message. I've retried the installation process multiple times. Nothing seems to help.

I fear my copy of GT6 is dead since other games work perfectly on my PS3. Oh & yes, I have a 500 gig super slim PS3. Any advice?

Something tells me you are supposed to delete game install data and keep game save data. Hopefully you have your save data on a thumb drive so you don't have to start all over. I would make sure you have uninstalled game data and try a clean install again.

Unfortunately I tried that on a few occasions thinking the same thing and that didn't work.

Oh & yes I have my GT6 game data on my thumb drive.

Are you downloading updates over WiFi?

I've read that can cause some problems.

I'm on a wired connection.

If you deleting anything, make sure it is the game updates.

Then update through the XMB, not in-game.

I haven't tried that yet since I thought it was essentialy the exact same thing and would thus lead to more fustration & failure

Before 1.12, it seems to make a difference.

From 1.12, it may not necessarilly make any difference.

It didn't make a difference. I tried updating the game through the XMB and the in game installation still fails. I guess I'm stuck with no GT6. :(

Call Sony. This sounds like the case of corrupted data in the system that I have seen on two separate occasions, My brother Fran_Chise had the issue with GT6 and my friend Spiritfighter##sumthin had it with GT5. They will walk you through how to repair the issue.

Huh? How could that be? I restored the system to factory default twice?

*Shrugs and sighs* Did your brother & your friend have to mail in their PS3's to Sony after calling them or is this a case by case basis type thing?

Any progress on this one?

There are some times when a simple delete and install just don't seem to work. I can't explain that and I am not sure of any simple solution.

There are some things that you can try, though.

No progress has been made, but I am interested in trying those things you're hinting at. However if they involve getting into the PS3's safe mode. I have already tried every option in that menu and it didn't fix my issue.

Ok, I have posted various topics asking for help on this issue on every GT related forum I could think of. Hopefully someone between the combined mindpower of my fellow furs, the Tuna, & the rest of the GT community can find a remedy. ;)

No they did not.

Also, for an FYI, one of those consoles was a two week old superslim. Simply resetting to factory is not the solution.
