Good luck. I know how much of a pain it is without power.

Christmas with the in-laws. Power still not on, so there will be 5 adults and 3 children (age 8, 4, 3) in the house tonight. Craziness will ensue.

The temperature has dropped since the 'ice storm', so the ice is still covering everything.

0°F and snowing. I've never seen this in my life. I thought it could get "too cold to snow". Guess not.  :lolz

Also, what is this, Alaska? Grumpy...? LOL.

It is warmer here in Celsius than it is there in Fahrenheit.

It's 7C and raining here.  Our lovely Vancouver winters.

That reminds me.  We are getting one of those outdoor NHL hockey games on March 2.  It will likely be raining and 10C at that time which means the roof on our domed stadium will be closed so we will have an indoor hockey game at a venue completely unsuited for hockey games and they are charging close to $200 for the cheap seats.

Going down to -21C tonight. It was -16 a little while ago.

After the ice storm, I figure a lot of risk has been taken out of the electrical grid. All the new poles, wires and transformers, plus all of the risky trees and branches being down should mean that we are good to go. Unfortunately, our hydro bills will go up, to help recover costs of about $10M.

Yay!!!  Currently 6°F and dropping.  Should be a balmy -5 to -10°F tonight.   :(

Sunny and about 40-45 degrees in Vancouver, WA today.

99% of my family live in New England and upstate NY and they are hating life right now.

To all of you who are dealing with the extreme, stay warm and safe.

Unexpected high today of 0°F (was only supposed to get to -2!) with wind chills down to -40°F tomorrow

It is some kind of stupid outside

We had the freezing rain/snow just before Christmas that knocked out power for hundreds of thousands across the region.  I live near downtown, so we never lose power for more than a milisecond or two.  But this one took three days to get back.

Luckily, that was before the REAL cold started, which was a couple days ago.

Oh, and while this is Michigan and we know all about winter in the "mitten", we usually don't get 15+ inches in a two day span!!!!!!!!!

And then the temp really drops.

We're at -6(F) before the windchill.

I went to my wife's vehicle to look for something, and realized that I still had a brand new bottle of wine in the back.  I picked it up, and the cork had shrunk and loosened.  I got ice-cold wine all over my fingers and if I hadn't run inside to the warm water, it would have begun frostbite within seconds.  Probably the coldest thing I've ever felt.

Then, I tried the boiling water thrown into the air trick.  It works.

Cold again.

-7F (-14C), without the wind chill.

It's 76 right now and tomorrow is supposed to be 80. It is cold at night though, down to a chilly 52. If you send some of your snow to our mountains we may not have to water ration.

Come on, just stick a pipe in the ocean, yours for the taking.

That reminds me.  The fire department in Lion's Bay had to do that the other day.  Lion's Bay is a small community just past West Van on the way up to Whistler.  Apparently, it has very poor water supply.  The original report was that some guy was recharging the battery on his Ferrari when it caught fire.  The fire department completely used up all their water and had to use salt water from the ocean.  They house completely burned down.  The real story wasn't nearly as sad.  The house completely burned down but the car was really a fiero modified to look like a Ferrari.
