Last night's killer tornadoes that swept through the South from Alabama to Virginia moved through our area shortly after midnight. We had a ton of rain and some very high winds as the storms moved over us but nothing like the devastation that hit Alabama and parts of Georgia to our south.

Picking up on Dude's comment, I know a lot of people are having a very bad day after a very bad night right now as they inspect the damage left in the wake of the storms.

Things are calm here. The bad weather has moved on and we're expecting 7o-degree sunshine this afternoon.

The winds blew north. I just tried to open a door and nearly got blown away.

|The picture of the sandbagged house reminds us of just how precarious some locations for building homes are.

The lady with one of the sandbagged houses was on the news last night being asked stupid questions by some dumb hussie trying to make a name for herself.  The old lady made mention that she'd done all she could do and it was out of her hands now.  She was just there picking up some things that couldn't be replaced like pictures and other items that were dear to her and when she got her car loaded, she was going to help her neighbor fill up more sandbags. 

Meanwhile, I was stuck in traffic, bitching about being literally stopped in the road while my house at the top of the hill will likely never see the flood waters.

Apparently, there are a lot better people in the world than me.   :'(

We're still getting some pretty strong gusts of wind here too. Yesterday, around 5pm, it started to rain like a sonofabitch, and stopped about ten minutes later.

Today was our best day in over a week.  Mid 60s and sunny.  Then it wasn't sunny.  Then it sprinkled.  Then it was sunny and nice again.

Then the Heavens opened up and I had to pull off the side of the road because I couldn't see.  As soon as I could drive again, my beautiful car got smoked by hail. 

Where I live, the flood stage is 42 feet (the river depth); on Saturday the crest is supposed to hit 47 feet.  Just to our east, there is a smaller, hicker town where the flood stage is 33 feet.  Saturday's crest is supposed to be 52 feet. 

Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny are warmer.  Then more rain on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  I'll put our shit weather up against anyone's.
