I had a chance on Monday to lower the aero and immediately got the times lower. I planned to tackle the gears next. From what I've read over at GTP these cars have gained quite a bit of speed without any aero.

I ran the aero as low as it would go. The car was fine on all racing tires. The soft tires actually seemed too grippy.

Leaf, you were running good competitive times before the update. The aero change has caused a pretty high drop in times.  I also suspect that tire grip has been increased slightly.

I'll check the 905 again tonight and make sure I did not miss any thing.  If it matches up, I won't be making any changes to the balance of the cars except possibly for the XJR-9 which no one has picked yet.  It may get a very small HP boost, maybe 2 or 3 HP. I know that does not seem like much but I've discovered that these cars can be very sensitive to small weight and HP changes.

I want to do some more tire testing. I have an idea that I believe will add another dimesion/prize/bonus point to the race for those wishing to attempt it not to mention it just seems a perfect fit to the originally real world concept of what Group C was supposed to be.  :D.  Long story short I really want to find a way to make all 3 racing tires available in the race.

I will have everything squared away by the end of the week.

After the race last night I took out my Peugeot for a few laps with softs and was consistent 39:7 and up. Always in the upper 39 range. I kind of like the extra speed, i figured about 10 mph. This should be a lot of fun and personally I wouldn't slow them down any more.

We just need a few more people to get a large pack going 230mph.

Come on Tuna's, everyone into the poool.

Maybe in a couple of weeks we could do a 60 lapper to get a taste of the real thing. Open to anyone that wants to try these cars.

Just a thought.

I've already decided to not slow them down. Speeds are up about 10mph but I think even in a mutli-car draft speeds should stay in the 240-250mph range and I'm ok with that.

I have made one tweak.  I gave the XJR-9 a few more HP, it is now set at 744hp. The front post has been amended. I don't know if it was the update or if I wrote something down wrong in testing but after the update it became the slowest car by a little over a tenth of a second.

I'm totally in favor of an open 60 lap test race, maybe even a pair of them. Perhaps the week after Wolf's enduro?

I'm on holiday from Oct. 16th to the 28th. Any other time is good for me.

Race rules are now finalized.  After additional testing I've decided all race tire compounds will be usable.  If anyone manages to complete the race without making a pit stop of any sort will get bonus points and possibly a 1000 ticket.  See the first post for details.

The only items on my list that are left are to figure out how to add the event to the calender. (It's been ages since I last did it) Also, since PD decided to add drafting to free run, I've come up with an idea for NASCAR style single car qualifying. If I can find time over the next too weeks, I'd like to try and get a group of 5 or 6 people together to try it out. I think it is a very workable proposition except it may be too time consuming.  Below is a short description:

1. All drivers "enter course" but do not start driving. (Except for 1/host)
2. One driver/host enters "watch race"
3. The watcher calls/types out each driver one by one down the list.
4. Drivers name is called out and driver procedes to run the designated laps or lap. (example: 1 warm up lap 1 hot lap)
5. At the end of drivers run, driver exits to pit road and next name is called.
6. lather rinse and repeat for each driver.
7. At the end the watcher enters course and makes their qualifying run.
8. Upon completion the race is started

It seems like a lot but if it works it may add a little extra sim feel to some of the oval events that are run. Well as long as it does not take too much time.  :)

Open the post; at the bottom of the page is a "Link to Calendar" button.  Change the date because it defaults to "today"...

I believe if you turn collisions "off" under settings that there is no drafting in free run mode.

Is anyone into a practice race for this or a few shorter ones. I'm thinking Wednesday at 9:00 ET.

Maybe some people who are on the fence about this can check it out to see if they want to enter the series (Hey Turbo wink wink).
