HAHA, I remember when that happened.  TunaPhreak and someone else spun out around turn 1 and Phreak ended up in the pit out lane.  And instead of just driving through it he turned around and drove out of it.     :lolz    I recall eyeballing that on my map and chuckling a bit.

I had 2 really nasty crashes (one that temporarily killed my engine) but I was lucky enough to not take anyone out with me.  ;D

Thanks guys, that was a fun race and somewhat of a surprise result for me.. I hadn't expected Ex pit that 2rd time around lap 20(?) and almost threw away what lead I then had a couple of times I think :).  DRC has never been a good track for me but I really did enjoy the race and have a much better understanding of the course now too.

Ex, Metal and I had a good few laps at the start racing close and swapping spots until I blew it at the bus stop on Lap 4 and lost what draft I had.  I'll try and get some pictures out of the replay today or tomorrow.

I agree close racing is most fun and I personally don't want to hoard the car that is seen as the fastest.

I had a thought, and it doesn't have to be done in this series, but you might want to consider it for another one (or if you really like the idea, I'm okay with implementing for the rest of these races)

okay idea time: (patent pending) :laugh

2nd place gets the choice of swapping cars with the winner of the previous race.  If the NSX wins, then 2nd place can choose to run it, but the other guy has to change cars too.  This could be done by sending/cloning the car, or by simply changing to an identical car you already own.

this honor would only be given to 2nd place though, to avoid confusion and to keep the field diverse.

If you decide to adopt this, I'd like to start AFTER the next race.  If you don't like the idea, then I'm okay with that too.  Just thought I'd offer up something to shake things up a bit.

Not that I would have a chance to get 1nd, I think it would make more work to "re-learn" a different car for possibly just one race.

I think you got 2st twonce now, so you'd hypothetically be able to grab an NSX and win the next one.

you'd not be forced to switch, but could ify ou wanted to

That was before Metal joined. I would try it just to see.

I know it's 2 weeks away but I just have 1 question.

Does anyone know where the pit is at Laguna Seca

It's over there ----> somewhere I think :)

I do know it's possible to go in too fast and bounce of the walls before autopilot kicks in which can cause you to warp to the start of the pit lane and get the no-stop auto drive-thru penalty so I for one will be practicing entering the pit lane under race conditions just to be safe!

I think that maybe I should practice that as well.

No knuckleheads will be permitted in the next race.

Mind you it may be a bit more difficult but if Phreak wants to enter the pit exit I think that may be OK  ;)

lol, you guys are making me bust out laughing over here at work.   :lolz

exXboxFan, that idea sounds swell with me.  As long as nobody objects to it we can put it into effect after Race #4.

maybe it's just me, but the NSX does not seem to be much different in lap times with the 300zx so far at Laguna Seca.

I think because of the wide-open areas at DRC it favored some cars more than others...  Laguna seems to be a different story.

I'll only limit with additional weight if it seems that I cannot get similar times with another car.

Has anyone done any testing this week. I really believe that it's going to be fun even though I don't care for this track. There should be cars spinning out all over the place.

I will get the ball rolling. When I did manage to keep the car on the track I got a rather sloppy 1:32:250. I have no idea if that is going to be close at all.

I'm having a hard time with some of the gears this week. The stock tranny is tough when you can't adjust anything.

Should be fun.

I think a 1:32 is good.  If I'm remembering right, my best with only a little practice was in the 1:32s.

for sure, sticking to the edge of the track is challenging here.  staying out of the sand is the name of the game.

Funny you should ask LLF!

TunaPhreak and myself did some testing last night.  TurboTuna also joined in on the fun.  Turbo turned a 1:31.007 with the NSX Type S Zero and my best was a high 1:32 using the Supra.  I tried a few others cars for funnzies and was getting mid 1:33s with the R32 and R33 Skyline as well as the S2000.

The cars seemed very lively on this track and more prone to transitional and power on oversteer than on previous tracks.  Could make some vehicles tricky but I actually really enjoyed it in the Supra, which usually has a very planted rear end.

Oh, and I determined the lap count.  30 laps my friends, 30

I think the biggest determining factors (for finishing order) in this race will be staying off the sand and going easy on the tires!
