I downloaded the update last night and ran some laps (and noticed Dude left me another message about not racing).  I didn't notice anything with the FFB, but did notice the tire wear 'fix' that's been implemented.  Kudos to PD for finally (it's only been 22 months) doing something about the crappy tire model.

I did a little testing after getting the 2.08 update, and this....

...is no longer possible from a standing start.

BUT, the same odd ball ride height still yields better rear traction, just not as prominent as it use to be.

With the front slammed and rear all the way up, on RS tires, there is zero spinning, but no wheelie.

Reverse it with the front all the way up, and rear slammed, it'll will spin on launch, same tires.

So it appears they didn't completely fix the ride height issue, just toned it down a bit.

...sounds completely ass backwards to what it should be IMO.  ???

Another interesting side effect of the new suspension type updates is that you can no longer load some fat hookers into the back of your FF car and expect it to handle well :)

I found out tonight at ToC that having the weight in the back now affects FF cars like it probably always should have, in so far as it takes the weight away from the front and makes for less traction.  I forget if having Tawny Gold and Honeydew Melons in the back of my Civic did anything worse / unexpected with the general handling in corners and such but it actually made accelerating quite difficult due to excessive front wheel spinningness!

So remember kids, if you want to tune an FF car now you may want to put just 1 hooker on the passenger seat instead of 2 in the trunk!

I just wish all of the changes would be meticulously documented so that we know wht the fuck is gonig on in this game every time we pick it up.

do they just haphazardly go though and type on teh keyboard to code this game, or is there not a priority list of things to be done for each update?  could we not get that list once the tasks are done?

would it not be prudent to tell us that suspensions are acting differently?  what caused it?  the tire changes? the drag changes?

come on!!!!

(oh, and nice comments in that deathstar thread, Feldynn... the one about "Some Thoughts on PD...."  good to see you pop in there from time to time.)

It is, but not as bad as it use to be.

Does anybody know what the "Change" box is next to the automatic race timer? What does checking it versus unchecking it do?

I think you can use it to reset the clock once set vs moving the slider back and forth.  I will try it out next time I host.

while the obvious criticism of that new button should definitely be "if you enhanced something in the lounge controls, why wouldn't you tell us and explain WTF it does?" I also think we should look at the positive.

They ARE looking at lounge/lobby controls and doing something.

here's to hoping it will continue and go in a direction that gives us much of what we've been asking for.

I hear they are starting to pay closer attention to forum posts...

So then they must know that folks are bored, miffed, and looking for another source to fill their need for a racing fix.

Some folks are even looking at different types of games to fill the void that GT5 creates.

I hadn't bought a new game since last Xmas.  But this week I spent $175+ at GameStomp.  And I may go back and pre-order a couple moar.

It's getting harder to keep things fresh and interesting.  Tracks would help.  Non-Jap cars would be a blessing.  And a livery editor could breathe a lot of life into a game that feels like it is slowly dying...

Hopefully the drive-ins haven't been too lame but Charlie is running out of ideas.

I guess his chickens has dentures...

GT5 is dieing, and I think adding tracks would be the best way to revive it some. DLC cars at this point are meaningless. This past batch was the first time, I didn't buy everything, it just wasn't worth it. Unfortunately, PD seems to either be out of touch, or just don't care what their customers want.  :-\

Excerpt from some planet news.

The game will be running at “4K resolution”, the new video standard which touts four times the 1920×1080 resolution of current HDTVs, and is powered by four PlayStation 3 consoles.

Useless if you ask me.

Button has always been there since they implemented the "auto race start'.  It only resets the clock to the time already chosen.  Watch the box next time you start a lounge.  It is unchecked by default, but becomes checked as soon as you move the slider.
