I'm not sure why I had to restart, but it probably had to do with all the updating and dlc I had just dealt with. I expect that it was a one time thing, and something unique to that situation. That's what I hope anyway.

Some how some people wound up with corrupted cars.

Somehow....

I got a corrupted car because some time ago I reverted GT5 to 1.00. When in 1.00 I switched to a car that was painted a color not available in 1.00. This corrupted the car, because 1.00 didn't understand the car. I have not been able to use that car since, so this is the car I sold for this fix.

Was that also from that dance you had to do to dupe some car or something?

That was exactly it...which was a waste of time, clearly, and I knew that as soon as I did it. (It worked, but not worth the effort) It's more true now though, as its so easy to dupe year and level tickets.

So, is the warning that, if you revert back to a fresh, original install (1.0) you should not try to run it with your latest game save, especially if you messed with the colour of the currently used car?

Or does it not matter what the loaded car is?

It mattered more that it was gold chrome...which didn't exist in 1.00. That's my best guess as to the real root of the problem.

The fix involves reverting and updating to 2.09. I then bought a premium 89 Miata, got in it, and reverted to 1.00 to delete the problem car, a premium RX8.

Clicking around Wikipedia looking at ALMS stuff, I stumbled across this paragraph on the page for Sebring International Raceway...

Quote
Sebring in Gaming

Sebring Raceway is featured in iRacing, Forza Motorsport 2, Forza Motorsport 3, Forza Motorsport 4, Total Immersion Racing, and Sports Car GT. There are also end-user created versions for GTR2, GTR Evolution, GT Legends, rFactor, Grand Prix Legends and NASCAR Racing 2003 Season. It is speculated to appear in Gran Turismo 6.

So I've heard all the Bathurst, Silverstone, and Willow Springs talk, but I've heard nothing about Sebring.  Does anyone know where this rumor comes from?

If Sebring is indeed in GT6, I'll be one happy camper.  Great track.

And yes, I know Wikipedia isn't the best source, just curious if anyone has heard this somewhere.

No idea, off the top of my head. That was not one of the 25 logos found on the GT web site, a few years ago.

Does Wikipedia not list the source? It should, or you can try deleting it enough times that it stays deleted.

I saw somewhere that they were expecting PGR to be a launch title for the xbox and a new racing IP being a launch titile for the ps4.  IIRC it was supposed to be developed by the guys that do motorstorm and some of the wipeout developers (so definitely arcade elements).  Apparently, they wanted to use the gran turismo name (like Forza Horizon) but that got nixed by Japan.  Either way, it makes it sound like GT will not be a launch title for ps4.  which will save me a few bucks.
