Snow, 32°. :o A kick in the nads as it was 65-70 at the end of last week, and Spring started yesterday. ::)

That's the 2rd blue lobster sighting in the last few days... we might be having a bit of a problem...

Someone keeps forgetting to close the "escape hatch" in the traps.
The thunderstorms that slammed us Monday night (yes, the weatherpeople got it right) opened up with a round of hail. The deck lid on the Honda got peppered pretty badly and I'm calling the insurance company today.
I even pulled it up under the trees trying to get it sheltered just in case we had hail. Still got hit.
We are getting freezing rain today. What happened to spring?

What a yucky Spring we've had.
I have it on good authority that the end of the world will begin in Arizona. So there, Sniper! Or, maybe it's Florida. I forget. :)

Sunday I worked in the yard in shorts and no shirt. Yesterday and today I had to bundle up in a sweatshirt and jacket, and yesterday it rained pretty much all day.

Southern Ontario is under a swirling mass of wet air. It is teeming out there, but it won't last long.
This part of the storm doesn't even show on the radar, but it is wet.
The sun has returned after a week off. ^-^
Well, summer is here in Phoenix,we have an excessive heat warning for the next few days....115* today and tomorrow and it's supposed to "cool off" by Thursday down to a more comfortable 109* :o Honestly, once the thermometer goes above 105 does a couple of degress make any bloody difference at all! :laugh
97 with a heat index of 115 yesterday. Already 92/106 today.
96/113 right now, about three hours shy of the hottest part of the day. Our heat index might hit Sniper territory.
Currently 98/112 out. Not really pleasant out.
I remember being in Vegas a few years ago and finally learning what a 'dry heat' was. It was 105-110 during the days and I rarely worked up a sweat even when walking from casino to casino. My mom was bitching the whole time about me not drinking enough water because it was so hot out and all I drank was beer. Then I told her I hadn't sweated since we got there and she backed off.
The humidity is one of the worst parts about mid-west living. It can be 79 degrees out, but with high humidity you can't see because the sweat burns your eyes.
Hot and humid Continental weather, now.
It has been so long since we have had any rain, we can now see which lawns have sprinklers and which ones don't.

I would have been concerned if you told me you weren't sweating. Not sweating doesn't mean you are cool enough to not sweat. Lack of sweat, in high temps, is a sign of dehydration. Even in a dry heat, you sweat a little, certainly not like places with a lot of humidity, but you still sweat.
I'm pretty sure it's hot as FUCK everywhere. Just read something about how the entire U.S. is under a high pressue system in the atmosphere.

Yeah, it's frickin hot here io Ontario. We're at around 35C (95F) in Oshawa but with the humidity it feels much hotter. They say it feels like 45C (113F) Some cities have already reached record highs, and Toronto might too.

To be honest, it's not bad at all, at least here in AZ. We have a couple of months in the summer that are hot and humid, but during those months we also get monsoons and haboobs to keep things interesting. The rest of the year it's effin great. Low humidity, 70s in the winter, and an occasional cold front that moves in to drop the temps to freezing. Shorts and t-shirts for me most of the year.
Vegas is just about the same as here.
From Wikipedia:
"A haboob (Arabic:"هَبوب", "strong wind") is a type of intense duststorm commonly observed in arid regions throughout the world."
(I didn't know either.) :)
Excuse my ignorance but what the FUCK is a haboob?
Pes. Obama ...
I expect this to fizzle (outside of coastlines), just like all the other "big storms" that come up the East coast in the winter.

I was wondering about your safety. Glad to hear you made out ok.
Well if you live on a rock... you probably have heard of the tornado "outbreak" (WTF? Last time i checked in my area an outbreak was at least 10 tornadoes!!! Not fucking 2!) that hit the Branson area. Well... before i give the NWS report in a different post. Let me give my account. Personally i slept through the whole thing. I was dreaming of... well to put it nicely.. giant stuff and things (like giant humans and anthro dinos/wolves) and when i woke up at 5am, lots of reporters were in two areas: Branson which is 8 miles eastsoutheast of my house and Buffalo which is 75 miles north of my house. Apparently the storm went through when i was first in my dream state of sleep around midnight. We got nothing in my area but the storms really hit hard about 5 miles south of my house in the quiet retirement town of Kimberling City. The local fishing tournament that was scheduled to take place there is now cancelled and Branson as well as Buffalo schools were closed today. Reeds Spring went since the Kimberling City area only encompasses about 45% of the whole district which covers most of Stone County.
That is all.

I live 6 hours east of Zilla (by car). Whatever weather he gets, we get about 2-4 hours later. Normally, I'd have slept through the whole thing, but I have an 8-year old. The little boy came into our room and told us he couldn't sleep with the rain hitting his windows. Odd, I thought, since his windows face east and the rain never hits the windows. Enter tornado-like conditions, and bam, you have rain hitting the windows. I got no sleep.
Fortunately, the winds were strong, but not tornadic (a new word I heard a meteorologist use) and the bad stuff passed over us and hit the little town to the east of us, Newburgh. The next morning, I heard on the radio that you shouldn't bother heading into Newburgh, the police weren't going to let you enter. It's a cute little river town, an historic district and some of the older homes lost their roofs and likely will have to be razed. Can't imagine what it's like to have an investment in an historic home, only to no longer have said investment.
Today, it's sunny, still a bit wet, and warmish.
Pathetic winter inOshawaNH so far. Every time we get our 2 inches of snow, we get no more, and it is melted within a week, due to rainfall and above freezing temperatures. That's the most snow we've had at any time, and we're into March. I don't miss shoveling snow or getting cold, wet feet, but it's still pathetic for anOntarioNH winter.
If we make it through March without real, lasting snowfall, it will be weakest (regarding snowfall) winter I've experienced.
I'm about to go Sniper and rock the damn yard. FUCKING smart

My wife commented the other day about how brown and dead in spots our front lawn is looking right now, I made a joking remark about putting out some redneck lawn ornaments after we saw an old toilet left out on the street for the garbage men to collect.
Now I may put some serious thought into a Zen Redneck Rock Garden! A nice toilet-shaped porcelain planter, some artfully stacked car wheel-shaped planters and other similar items arranged with some decorative rocks / boulders on a nice bed of gravel that I can rake into swirly patterns on a whim.
Hmmm...
Don't forget to mow the brown spots.

If that actually works I'd so get one! What a great way to get two unpleasant things out of the way at once, yardwork and exercise :D.. hmm fit a basket to it and drop in an MP3 player and portable speaker playing bluegrass classics and I'd bet set!

No kidding, that's brilliant. It'd save on gas too. I'd buy one.
Don't forget a beat up old chevy or two sitting on blocks scattered throughout the yard. That's all they're good for anyway. (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/lol1.gif)
80 today, 82 tomorrow, 85 on Wednesday. ??? There have been summers where the temps haven't hit 90 here ( :D ). What the FUCK is going on here? My bet is that it doesn't hit 85 again until mid June.
I wonder where the cold front is?? ^-^

This was me, ten years ago.
Now when it rains, it's rare and nice.
Well the forecast is not any better than yesterday. Woke up to 5 inches of new snow and still putting it down. >:( Think our spring and summer isn't going to show up this year! :'(
Ah, yes, you moved out west, to sunny BC, right?
FUCKING HOT
We're setting records here every day. Indiana summers are always miserable, but this is extreme weather for us. I'm losing about a half an inch of water every day in my pool and I can't keep the bird bath full.
After racing in Gar's thing, I went outside last night at 11 PM to let the dog take a final piss before heading off to bed and it was still 91 out. I live just outside the city limits so I was lucky, it was probably still 95 or so in the city proper.
The said on the news the other night that already this year, there have been over 1000 high temp records set this year in the States.

Don't really hate it Boston, just getting to old! Also people forget how to drive in the snow, from one year to the next. That is what i hate!

Yeah, y'all should come down to the Mid-Atlantic States.....it's FUCKING Haz y, Hot and Humid...in the 90'S (F) with about 72% humidity - relentless afternoon Thunder storms each day that do NOTHING to cool things down. We are stuck in a Bermuda High (Not to be confused with a Mexican High (http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/james_mikel/STGT%20forum/puffpuff.gif) , man!) Yesterday evening, we had a rain storm like no other that I have seen. Two days before Hurricane Hazel, in 1954, I was born. During that storm, Pearson airport had about 120mm of rain dumped on it and the flooding it caused resulted in many deaths. Yesterday, this storm came out of nowhere and dumped 126mm of rain on Pearson, in just a few hours! Needless to say, there was some flooding and power went out here for over six ours because some power transfer points got flooded. A friend still didn't have power this morning.
What I learned from this particular event is that candles produce better light than battery-powered LED garden lights, but the LED lights last longer and are, of course, less dangerous. If you have enough of them, they are quite effective in an emergency. I also learned that a few of my UPS batteries need replacing and we really need a battery-powered radio.

19 days in a row of rain, with more to come. I've never seen it rain as much as it has this year, especially during July. This month and next are usually our hottest and driest. :-\
the indonesian weather bureau has advised that this is an unusually wet "dry' season............. no :shit we haven't had more than 2 days in a row without rain since "dry" season started in april. Also....97% humidity is the norm @ about 28C
We've had highs in the 70's and 80's the last couple days here in Texas. Just plain weird.
It's official, not a drop of rain all July. It's raining today but the sun comes back tomorrow.
Not ready for this!
Blizzard conditions here in SC. :)

It's 76 right now and tomorrow is supposed to be 80. It is cold at night though, down to a chilly 52. If you send some of your snow to our mountains we may not have to water ration.

That reminds me. The fire department in Lion's Bay had to do that the other day. Lion's Bay is a small community just past West Van on the way up to Whistler. Apparently, it has very poor water supply. The original report was that some guy was recharging the battery on his Ferrari when it caught fire. The fire department completely used up all their water and had to use salt water from the ocean. They house completely burned down. The real story wasn't nearly as sad. The house completely burned down but the car was really a fiero modified to look like a Ferrari.
Cold again.
-7F (-14C), without the wind chill.
This morning when I left for work with the wind chill:
-31 degree Celsius = -23.8 degree Fahrenheit
My wife just said that friends in the Philippines are wearing sweaters. :'(
I walked a little bit tonight after leaving school. It didn't take long before I was really shivering, even though I was wearing extra stuff. The down vest worked, but my arms weren't protected by much. Brrr!

Down vest? If you cut off your arms you'll have a jacket. :D

Aren't you in Alaska, Grumpy? :o
Looking back in history, whenever sunspots got this low after a warming period, there were decades of mini-ice ages (known as a Maunder Solar Minimum) that followed, so look out.
Yesterday it was 50 at 9 o'clock in the morning!
Where's all the snow??? If its going to be as cold as it was, the least mother nature could do would be to send some snow my way. :-\

I don't know where you are, but we haven't had much snow this winter, either. It got off to a late start, then went straight into a deep-freeze and has bounced around from silly to down right dangerous ever since.
It's snowing below it pay-grade.

Good luck Chrome. I hope you don't lose any power. :(
Not had any snow down here. Been close a couple of times but it just turned into freezing rain/sleet/ice on roads. Been cold too -- down in the mid 20's last week and week before but today it's been back up in the 50's and 60's.
I'm so ready for summer and the 110 degree days again!
It's been weird here too. In the past couple weeks, we've had temps in the single digits, snow, and then hit upper 60s, low 70s. ^-^
Been snowing since about 6:30am eastern, and is suppose to all day. Tomorrow is supposed to be the bad stuff. Heavy ice/snow mix all day long.
79F today and it feels a bit warmer, I actually prefer it closer to 75. :)
That just screams cookies. Or, doughnuts as some people put it.
Reverse as fast as you can, throw it into neutral, slam the e-brake, crank the wheel, reverse cookies/doughnuts for days, slam it into first and pull out (like my wife says) of the slide. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Mad fun!!!

Try going down an ice-covered runway at 45mph and pulling the ebrake. Just whipping around in circles. Fun stuff... not that I know.
Not fun is attempting to do the same thing as a passenger in an MGB, hitting a patch of dry pavement and launching the thing into a snow bank. At least I wasn't the driver who had to walk back to the office with his tail between his legs and ask for a tow.
Best. Job. Ever.
ITS SNOWING.........FUCKING ash from Mount Kelud 130 miles to the East
:stoopid:ITS SNOWING.........FUCKING ash from Mount Kelud 130 miles to the East
You win. That's definitely worse than anything happening here. Stay away from that shit!
So last week at this time we had 8" of snow on the ground. Today it's 72 degrees. ^-^
Also, there was an earthquake on the southern end of SC last weekend, but it was felt up into NC. It shook my recliner just enough for me to say... "WTF was that!?"
Poor flowers. They just don't know what to do. I saw some trying to sprout around the beginning of February. Then we had a cold spell where it hit -8C. Then it warmed up and the flowers tried to sprout again. Now we've had three days straight of snow. Not a lot of snow but we never get three days straight. Usually it's a morning of snow and an afternoon of rain.
coming soon (http://forecast.weather.gov/images/wtf/medium/tsra100.png)
Don't want to rub it in or anything but it's been 80 degrees all weekend and it's supposed to be like that all week.
:laugh
The good news is that we have had a fair bit of sun during the days over this winter (lately, winters have been gray from November through to about April). However, that comes with a price attached.
"Wind Chill Warning
Wind chills in the minus 30s overnight and Monday morning."
The cross-polar shift from Siberia is making things pretty cold.
That was a very odd atmosphere. It didn't feel like an outdoor game and it didn't feel like an indoor game. I still say they needed to open that roof and play in whatever elements God throws at them. Did you watch the Chicago game in blizzard conditions? That was a great game to watch!
But yeah, -17 is pretty fucking cold! Too cold in fact. Where do you live at?

OI!! I had to drive through freezing rain to work this morning! Course tomorrow it's going to be back up in the 60's but this morning was cold!
I don't experience four seasons in one day but when I do, I'm inTexasNew England.

Aren't the earthquakes you get related to volcanism?
I wonder if this is the type of vulcanism that could make the earth move..

I believe her name may be Lieutenant Spil'Chik ;D

Why yes spillchick version 5 or SpillchickV
This also means we have room for three more spillchicks.
How cold was it this morning? It was so cold that...

Good luck with the job hunting, GT11!
Depending on where the job is, if it is downtown, you can leave home and not even were a winter coat, if you can stay in the underground tunnels - from your condo door to the job's front door.
Up here in Canada we have flowers blooming. I haven't seen snow since November.
6 days of sunshine and 60 degrees. I mowed the yard for the first time. Pruned the trees and picked up the dead winter foliage and readied plants for the coming year. Also, I had a killer BBQ on Sunday.
99% of my family live in New England. They hate me. (http://i.imgur.com/LmjyBgx.gif)
it rained and rained HARD today and, unusually, wind howling too... so hard the bamboo and corrugated tin roofedgaragelean to at the nearby apartment building fell down with some scooters under it. Against my better judgement I went and assisted with the extraction
It's 78 here now and it is supposed to be 89 on Sunday. Guess I'll be turning on the AC this weekend. ^-^
It's snowing again... and again, and again.
I'm cleaning up our garden in a T-shirt, so things are getting back to normal.

Not in my neighbourhood, but... on Saturday, MissGT picks up her first puppy.
Smells around here are going to change. :'(
Oh, yes, I always wear a T-shirt with my kilt.

When I used to go to school in Montreal, before picking up after your dog was a thing, I used to walk by a dog park on my way to school. Let's just say that early spring wasn't a fun thing.
rainy season is over, but more importantly, the humidity has gone waaay down, only 83% this morning. what a relief.....
Also, as a reminder. Not everyone loves fireworks. Consider pets, the elderly and veterans if you partake in blowing shit up.
its 16C (62F?) this morning, I'm fuckin frozen
Also can't go out for lunch because other peoples religion got all the eating places closed till late afternoon
As hot as it's been here, every shirt I wear is a sweat shirt.
We're regularly seeing 100-102* temps, and it hasn't got hot yet. By August people will be bursting into flames.
It's been raining here since last Thursday, and the 6 day forecast is the same.
Chrome, I have been thinking about you and the Mrs. the last 2 days. I hope that you and your family are safe.
let me know if I can do anything to help.
please send rain, its dryer than a popcorn fart here. Lots of people here having trouble getting decent water. Lucky our well still good

true story
well the rain finally got here, 2 months late. While this is good, it has encouraged the fuckin' frogs to start singing at 3.30am. >:(
Where's Winter this year? A few days of cold and that's it.
Just a snow drought and warm weather.
